"I recently bought a talking toaster oven and microwave. I was disappointed that the two devices were hard to use with odd buttons and poor quality speech output. I could not get the microwave to work, so I called MaxiAides and they told me that they would NOT take it back and that I should contact the manufacturer. They gave me an authorization number to send back the talking toaster oven but then NEVER issued a refud. I'm sure small inexpensive items are okay but I would not by any tech from them at all as you cannot get any help if you have a problem. DON'T DO IT"
"Absolutely terrible customer service. "
"The Atlanta VA Medical center order my dad 2 items. The package only came with one of the items. I called and was told I would get a call after she spoke with her supervisor. Three weeks later never heard a thing. Called back to follow up and the same lady could not find the order. She was useless. She put some guy on the phone who she did not up give an update to what this call was about before. He was totally lost until I informed him. He accused me of saying I was calling from the VA, when I clearl5told him the order was placed by the VA. He then said the order was sent out and I would need to follow up with the VA. So I told him the VA has already paid for the item and if I received a 70 dollar razor why would I be calling about an 18 dollar clock if we had received it. I told him your employees must not have packed the clocked like the invoice indicated because we received the razor and not the clock. He then told me again I would need to contact the VA. I guess they want the VA to pay for the clock again and never send it. SCAMMERS AND THE VA need to CUT ties!!!! New Yokers are the worse to deal with!!! Easy fix would to just send the damn clock!!!"
"Mid-November I ordered a phone for Christmas for my visually impaired 95 yr old mother. Order received approx 1 week later (7 days). Box first opened on Christmas day (day 32). My mother returned home after New Years (approx day 35). Family was going to set the phone up, but discovered that due to my mother's circumstance and abilities, it would not work for her has we had hoped.
I called Maxiaids on January 15 (aprox day 61). They said it was past 30 days, so no return, exchange, or credit. Apparently, your 30 day "warranty" starts the minute you order. I told them it wasn't a warranty issue, the phone was fine, but wouldn't work for my mother. Doesn't matter. The phone was over $234.
I even spoke to a supervisor with the same result. It's unacceptable that the phone's return "window" was closed before the box was even opened.
DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU ARE ABSOLUTELUY SURE YOU WILL NEVER NEED TO CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

"I'm very disappointed with what MaxiAids sent to me. When I received it by UPS, I opened the box and noticed that the clock had something rattling around inside of it. Upon closer look, I've noticed that it did not have a volume control dial. So that's probably what's rattling around inside of it. Go figure, it's made in China! "
"I ordered a cane for my visually impaired husband. It is a foldable cane. N less than 4 months, while using the cane to walk, it snaps apart. Maxi Aids claims out of warranty- and basically invites to make another purchase. I would not buy any other product from the company ever and suggest anyone research carefully before making a purchase-quality seems very inferior."
"I have ordered numerous times from them and the merchandise had been satisfactory. But my most recent order turned out to not be the same product that I previously order. When I talked to them about returning them, they said that I had them over 30 days and that exceeded their return policy. I am legally blind and can not read their return policy. These pens are still in the bag they were shipped in. I am stuck with 2 dozen pens that are unsatisfactory. I have shared my catalogs and recommended this company before, but with this experience I will never do it again unless the correct this situation."
"Bought a Reizen 1-button talking watch product from Maxi-Aids. It broke shortly after the one year warranty period. Paid Maxi-Aids $17.50 to repair it plus another $9.00 to ship it to them to repair. The repair only lasted 45 days. Returned it to Maxi-Aids for another $10 in shipping charges for them to fix their repair work under the warranty they had for their repair. They sent me a new watch but it stopped working in less than a week! In specific, the watch would the correct time but the talking function never would keep the correct time (it would start losing time after an hour), making this product totally useless for my 92-year old mother who is blind. Too bad I spent $36.50 , which is the cost of a new talking watch, trying to get the one I bought from Maxi-Aids repaired."
"I ordered a pouch for my mobility cane. I was sent a USPS tracking # and confirmation via email. However, the package was never received. I tracked via USPS and it showed a delivery. I emailed MaxiAids twice for them to trace the package since I didn't receive. No reply ever sent via email. I finally called and the customer service representative said she would have to talk to a supervisor and call me back. Though she did call back a couple of minutes later, and said she would resubmit the order for replacement, she was very rude advising that "if this one isn't received, we can't do another order." as if this was my fault the US Post Office did not deliver correctly order or that someone was stealing my mail. I am here every day when my mail is received and even received a package from another institution the same day via mail so that is not the case. Very poor customer service and customer relations skills. I will definitely find another provider for future supplies orders. Would have ordered through AmbuTech directly, but they now require a minimum $50 order before they will ship."
"I want to say thank you for being the only company I could find who carries hearing a pocket pro with head phones. My father a Korean war and Vietnam war vet has lost the out side of his ears to agent orange. Therefore cannot wear ear buds. With these head phones he can hear his family and is not isolated from the world around him. I just would love to see the head phones be a little bigger on the ear part. For comfort. Thank you again! Just bought our second set."
"I purchased two magnifiers from Maxi-Aids through Amazon. The magnifiers were different strengths since I wasn't sure which would be best. I purchased the items in October for a Christmas gift. I tried to return one after Christmas and received the response from Maxi-Aids that it was too late. Very poor customer service, don't buy from them."
"Very poor customer service. Ordered a watch on Dec 9, no call about a CC issue until Dec 17. Not resolved until Dec 19th. Wouldn't expedite so that I could get it by Christmas. No repeat customer here! Potential customer find another source."
"8-20-12-- Opening this #8845UT Talking Tel Timer two months after receiving it, I found that none of the functions worked. The 72-hour limit to report it was expired, but it still qualified for the one-year manufacturer warranty. However Maxi-Aids said it would be too hard to contact the manufacturer and wanted me to pay for repairs and shipping. They could not provide any cost estimate, nor did they offer to take it back to see if it was even worth fixing before demanding more money from me (purchase price was $17.65 including shipping). Not wanting to throw good money after bad, I told them I was sorry but I could not recommend their company or their merchandise."
"A nightmare of incompetence. Not only have they shipped the wrong package for my mothers Christmas gift they are unable to correct the issue 3 weeks later. They have sent my watch purchase all
over the country and still can not properly send a mailer label to return the rummy tile game they sent her by accident. Not even an apology for their poor customer service. Can't judge the product...it still has not arrived!"
"I have the honor of being the first to review Maxi-Aids.
I discovered them on Amazon while looking for a Royal Blue Lanyard.
Got two day delivery from Long Island, NY to Southern California and the product was first class.
I highly recommend these folks."
