"I have now bought three cameras and 5 lenses from McBains. The first camera was a replacement for one that drowned on a canoe trip. (Couldn't swim...) I deliberately went in on a week day, and spent close to two hours talking with a staff member, picking up and holding cameras. My fingers fell in love with a Nikon.

Since then I've replaced that camera (another water accident) and have bought several lenses.

Most of the time since, I knew exactly what I wanted, so didn't take up a salesman's time. In this day of the internet they will match any advertised price. Bring a copy of the ad in.

I've been dealing primarily with their main store in Edmonton. The expertise isn't as deep (but still good) at their satellite stores in the mall.
