"Add my name tot he long list of dissatisfied customers of Mercantila. They make a good ad, and promise good service. But here is my situation: I ordered a set of matching coffee tables. Within a day or two of this order, I received a communication from the company saying they were sorry but the items were no longer available. They'd send a refund. That was nearly one month ago. I have tried repeatedly to get a refund, but all I get are emails saying they are "expediting" my refund. I plan to file with the Better Business Bureau, and every other outlet I can find about this company, DO NOT ORDER FROM MERCANTILA. Read the other reviews and be warned. This company operates SCAMS. They will take your money, hold it, earning the interest due to YOU, and either delay or deny your refund altogether. I have never been treated so poorly by an online company. They get ZERO rating from me. "

"This is the worst place I have ever dealt with for online purchases. They have good prices and so that lures you to buy from them. I guess if you get your product without damage then the review may be different and you could count yourself lucky but if you have to have further dealings with them through their so called customer service.....all I can say is good luck and be prepared to dispute with them through your credit card because they will not help you at all.
I purchased a home bar from them. A beautiful piece of furniture made by Powell. I ordered it on December 17, 2012. They took my money (over $ 1000.00) immediately upon placing the order. I didn't get any tracking information for at least three weeks even though it said ships in 3-4 days. Then finally when it arrived in this area I was told I had to be home to sign for the furniture either on a Tues or a Thursday to sign for it. I asked could they leave the piece in our garage be because if they had to deliver after 6 pm they would have to charge me an additional $100.00 and one of the reason I purchased from them was for the free ship deal. They said they would contact the shipper and allow them to leave it without signature in the garage. They never did and the shipper tried to deliver it when we we not there. Then we tried again but the shipper kept telling me they never got any communication from them so they could not leave it. After getting sick of the back and forth I decided just to take a day off just to receive the furniture. I did. The piece was shipped and received. When we unpacked the bar it was damaged. I took pictures and contacted Mercantila. They said if I kept the item as is they would give me a 20 percent discount. It was not enough to get the damage fixed so I asked them to replace the item. Then they said they would give me a 35 percent discount if I would accept the item as is. Clearly they did not want to give me a replacement despite their guarantee listed on their website. Now mind you this communication took at least 6 weeks back and forth. Why? I certainly cannot tell you. They try to ignore your communications through email so you have to keep dogging them. I have spent hours upon hours trying to get things straightened out but its useless. They are polite but then they just never follow through on ANYTHING they say. Last I heard, now 1 month ago is that the credit request was put into their billing department for partial refund and I would get an email when that was done. Really? So now 1 month later, still no refund and I have to now dispute the whole thing with my credit card......more of my time once again.
Bottom line is I would avoid this merchant like the plague.

"I made order on 12/11/2012 and was told it would take 3-5 business day to ship. A confirmation email from the company told me it would be shipped after Dec. 26. I called the company on 12:19(PST), 12/19 to cancel the order. I was told on an email from the company it would take 1-2 business days. A new email dated on 9:00 pm(PST), 12/21 told me the item was shipped on 6:52pm(PST) 12/21 which was 54 hours after I made cancellation. I call the company on next morning for the cancellation. The promise me will processing the cancellation because I made it before shipped. About 10 emails exchanged between me and the company, finally the company said I should return this item to the company and pay $95 for fee. Even I have not see the item yet.
Conclusion: The company treat customer terribly bad. After they charge money from you credit card they treat you like hostage.
Do not believe any thing they said either on phone or on email. They can change their words any minute.
Do not make any order from the company

"Agree with other comments. Specifically ordered a desk from this site because they confirmed delivery within 5-7 days, as opposed to others we looked at which stated 3-4 weeks. Still awaiting desk and mercantla has no idea when manufacturer will ship it out because of holidays. We've been waiting two weeks already."

"This is the worst internet site you can image. First my order said it will arrive in 2-3 day. Then I got an email that it will not arrive till 12/21. I called to cancel the order as it is suppose to ship two weeks later but they said no. I ended up ordering at another site that arrived on time, but now I will be paying for two burners!!! Don't order from these guys!!!!"

"Do NOT order the KidKraft Uptown Espresso Kitchen from this website! On the website it says its in stock & ships today, but when I called because I had yet to receive an order conformation they said it would not be shipped until LATE January 2013. When I asked to cancel the order they said they could do it but my money would not be refunded for 30 days! I'm devastated as money is tight & this was the big Christmas gift & my child would only be getting 3 small gifts with it. "

"I ordered a jogging stroller on October 29, 2012. Shortly afterwards, I received an email that said it wouldn't be shipped until November 12,2012 which was one day after the race that I needed it for. So I immediately called and cancelled the order. On 10/31 I received notification that the order was being processed for cancellation. on 11/8 I received a notification that the order was completely cancelled and a refund was being issued that could take up to 3-5 business days. On 11/16 I submitted a ticket regarding the refund, never heard anything from customer service (within 24-48 hrs they're supposed to get back with you.) Called 11/20 and a representative submitted an "escalated ticket" with the promise that someone would get back to me again within 24-48hrs. No contact. Called again 11/28 and received the same information, I asked to speak with a supervisor, the representative said he was a customer service supervisor... I'm now going through my credit card company to dispute the charges, this is ridiculous!! I don't mind waiting for a refund7-10 business days but I've now been dealing with this for a month. I wish I would have researched this company before ordering."

"I wish I would had read the reviews for Mercantila.com before I made a purchase through their site. I place an order for an exercise bike, and it wasn’t until after I placed the order and my card was charged that I found out it wasn’t going to even ship for another 3 weeks. LAME!! When the ship date came around, I got an email from the company that said they didn’t have a tracking number for me, but should have it within 24 hours. The email was very misleading, in that it was phrased in such a way to make me believe the item had been shipped and they were just waiting for the tracking number from the warehouse. I was wrong! a week after I got that email, I finally emailed the customer support to see what was up. I got an email the next day, only after I escalated my issue to a manager, with a tracking number for my item. It had just shipped that day. A full month after I placed and paid for my item. I week after I had been led to believe it was already shipped. I find it very unprofessional to make a consumer wait 5 weeks to get the product they paid for. Avoid this company, unless you feel like wasting your time chasing after your purchase. "

"Don't even think of buying from these criminals. In my case it was false advertising. The picture showed a kitchen table and 4 chairs and 1 bench. The description clearly stated 5 pc set (1 table, 4 chairs, 1 bench). Received table only and when asked about it they say "it said nothing here about the chairs"."

"CRIMINAL. Mercantila is a horrendously run company and i can't believe that they are still in business. After placing my order and letting 8 WEEKS go by, I still had not recieved my items nor had i recieved any updates on their status. So, I called Mercantila. I was told that the items hadn't even been shipped yet, and that they would "check into it." After several more excruciating weeks of arguing back and forth with the company and still not recieving any of my items, i canceled my order. That was 2 weeks ago. I still have not recieved my refund. I had to file a dispute against them with my credit card company to avoid my money being stolen. Please save yourself a lot of time, money and frusteration and avoid using mercantila AT ALL COSTS."

"REALLY BAD COMPANY!
1) they indicated 5-10 days ship date, so I ordered 2 chairs
2) they charged my card TWICE for a total of 4 chairs, and indicated not 5-10 days, but
4-6 weeks.
3) repeated emails got no response
4) I called, and sat on HOLD for 85 minutes one time, and 50 minutes another time..
5) it took weeks to get credited on the double charge
6) i am still waiting on the chairs....

"Fraud. I've never even been to any of their websites and they charged me $200 out of the blue. While the charge was still pending, I tried to get in touch with someone to cancel it. The person I finally got in touch with over the phone said he couldn't do anything and gave me an email address to contact, tried the email and no-one ever got back to me. Eventually just had to have it resolved through my bank's fraud department."
