"I ordered the Canon ipf6300 printer from these guys on the 19th. I was told it would ship out probably yesterday (the 22nd of Nov) and I would receive an e-mail notification.

No e-mail, so I called to day to find out what was going on. Twice. Finally got a call back from Sam apologizing for the delay in responding to me and uploading the order for the printer.

Bottom line, he tells me the price on their web site, which they Invoiced me for was incorrect and the actual price of the printer would be @ $300.00 more than the $2,399.00 price on their web site. This after I called and spoke with them last week and they again verified the $2,399.00 price. So they can't sell me the printer for the price they have advertised. I checked again this afternoon and they still have the printer listed at $2,399.00 - you can check it out yourself at

http://www.mpex.com/

You have to add the printer to the cart to get the $2,399.95 price (which again is actually not available).

So my advice is to avoid this store.

Since they gave me no option I cancelled the order and ordered from another vendor.

"I was looking for a relatively rare Sigma 17-70mm lens when I chanced upon the mpex website. Unfortunately bhphoto, Amazon etc. did not have the lens in stock, so I took the risk of trying out mpex - very bad judgment.

If you have anything non-standard about the purchase you are making, please stay off them and stick with the guys who have more experience. In my case, the billing and shipping addresses were different. The website clearly accepted such orders, even had a specific checkbox for the same. But after placing the order I was told that "they do that only for big ticket items, and the website doesn't have a filter for the same." Quite frustrating since I was already pressed for time. After a week's discussions on email and phone, they had no workable option to offer, other than shipping to the billing address. Finally concluded on phone that I'd cancel and place another order with the same billing and shipping addresses. To my shock, even that order did not work out, and by now I had run out of time to get the item from anywhere else. What's more, mpex also changed their own listing raising the price by $110 overnight.

While all this was happening, bhphoto and Amazon had already smoothly handled my orders made with the same card. And these guys apparently had some doubts about whether I was a genuine buyer, even after talking to me thrice on phone! Really quite shocking, I think it might be a good physical store, but they certainly don't seem to be very good at etailing.

"I ordered a strobist light kit. Initially the flash was out of stock, but they offered me the choice of shipping the rest of the kit minus the flash or holding the order until it came in. I ended up going into the store and picking the items up. I made some changes to the order and they were happy to help me with that.

A week or two later I brought the flash back because it wouldn't fire when rotated to certain positions. They exchanged it on the spot without any problems at all. I've visited the store a few other times and they've always been knowledgeable and helpful.

"Awesome experience. Ordered the SX4 two light stobist kit (w/o flash) with one of the light stands swapped out for the small and more expensive collapsible ones for $10 more. They shipped it the same day. I later found that the umbrella swivels (Lumopro LP632) are not compatible with my sb-900s. Sam at MPEX asked me to ship the lp632's back and he would swap them out for the633s at no added cost. I paid some $10 for shipping to them which sucked, but no fault of theirs - and they were shipping free back to me so I can't complain. I later called him to let him know I would like to order a softbox III, and if he could ship it when he sends me the new swivels. He asked me to order a new pair of 633's and the SBIII and he will simply refund me the returned LP632 swivels when he receives them.
That order also shipped the same day as well.
Feedback:
1. The LP633 swivel page mentions that the SB900 works only with those swivels. Maybe the LP632 page should mention that the SB-900 isn't compatible.
2. The black straws that came with the Rosco DIY kit are simple narrow bore cocktail stirrers, and not the typical diameter strays. Although there is the advantage of needing less length than typical straws to achieve the same effect as there will be more light loss with the narrower bore, they are not what I thought I was getting. There is probably going to be some trial and error with different lengths to assess their effect and compare them to traditional black straw grids.
3. It took a little under a week for the refund, I wouldn't care if I knew before hand, but since I didn't, I kept thinking something was wrong, and was about to call, when I finally saw the refund on my credit card.
All in all a good experience with them. They were courteous on the phone, made every effort that I was satisfied with my order. They could have put the swivel error on me and made me pay shipping both ways, but offered to swap them out without any added cost.
Would definitely shop with them again, and recommend them highly. They are barely a few $ more than some online only stores, but you get the service you pay for.
BTW they just improved their kits. Damn, I could have got a nice bag for my stands!
