"Modchip.com, has the poorest shipping times and customer service I have ever encountered. They lie about shipping times, 4-6 days is really more like 4-6 weeks. I would definitely suggest another company. I did get my slidecard, although it took quite a while, approximately 5 weeks."

"I ordered a mod chip from these lamers on February 19th, now almost a month later after being promised 3-6 days for shipping the order still has not arrived. They tell me there is no way to track the order and as everyone else has stated they said they will "start an investigation", then they never contact you back. They will take your money, you will not get your order, and they'll mess with you until they can hold on to your money long enough that they think you'll forget about it. I have demanded they reimburse my credit card, and I am starting the dispute process with my credit card company.

1) They were fairly quick to recognize the order, I received a confirmation email promising 3-6 days shipping delay.
2) After that time was up, I emailed them and they replied that they would "start an investigation" and that they had no tracking number available. They asked that I give them 10 more days.
3) After the 10 days have come and gone, still no package from them. I have demanded they refund my money and am going to dispute the order with my credit card company.

Moral of the story, this site must be a scam. DO NOT under any circumstances consider buying from these people. They only charge $3 shipping, that should have been my first clue. Maybe they ship using some third world guy and a llama? Rediculous.

Update: The mod chip finally showed up in the mail on March 17th. This is AFTER they had finally promised to refund my card almost a week ago. Of course they didn't refund my card the mod chip showed up (with no contact from them). My guess, they finally took my demands for a refund seriously and finally mailed out the chip. There isn't a shipping company in the world that I know of that takes that long to deliver a package. I'd say these guys shipped it a week or so before it showed up only after I whined and complained to them for a month. Anyway, they can keep the money, the chip showed up and in good shape. I will NEVER order from them again, unless they start offering COD UPS shipping."

It is now March 3 05 and i still have not received it. i emailed them 2 days ago and got a reply today saying it was lost in transit and will be shipped within 12 hours to be received in 4-6 business days. They almost immediatelly responded, telling me my order has been shipped on Feb. 16 and that it generally takes 4-6 workdays. "I placed an order with modchip.com and did not even get an invoice. No email confirmation either. After not getting confirmation from them, I sent an email this morning asking about the status of my order. Still have not heard anything from them.

Do yourself a favor and don't even think about ordering anything from this site. They don't even have a phone number for customers to call in. Why do business with them when they don't even care about their customers. Absolutely the worst place to buy anything from."

"I meant to place an order through mod-chip.com, but messed up and left the "-" hyphen out of the url and wound up in the modchip.com web site. Big mistake on my part. I tried to go back and cancel my order, but there are no phone numbers to call, no customer service, no means to cancel via their website. I got no response to my emails, even after I threatened with contacting the police. I contacted my VISA card folks, and modchip.com had within hours of ordering charged my account for the price of a modchip +shipping. The VISA folks claim they are helpless and cannot help me, telling me to wait a reasonable amount of time for the item to arrive. Then to file a dispute claim with them if it does not.

Modchip.com has not emailed a confirmation, has not responded to any or my later emails, yet they were pretty quick to charg my account. It worries me that I may not get my merchandise at all, and that I'll be out the money. I definitely do not get a warm and fuzzy feeling about this order.

I am going to take whatever steps necessary to complain to as many services as I can regarding modchip.com. These folks are definitely poor business. NOT RECOMMENDED!

After numerous emails with no repsonse I finally got an answer to one. The first portion of the email reads:

They don't give a time for reimbursement. So I called my credit card company. This how payments to merchants are made:

1) Merchant scans,swipes, or types in your credit card no. for preauthorization to dispense money from your account. Money is "set aside" in suspense pending disbursement.

2) Money is held in suspense for 5-10 days during which time the merchant takes action to have money disbursed to them, ie. after goods are shipped. When exactly withing this 5-10 day period the preauthorizarion expires if goods are not shipped is determined by the software system your VISA uses, and the customer service person was unable to tell me what triggers the system to cancel this preauthorization to expire more sooner, or later.

3) If money is not disbursed with 5-10 days the preauthorization expires and no money is no longer authorized to be disbursed to this company, and merchant would have to refile for preauthorization all over again.

Presently I am the beginning of this this 5-10 day window, which means that within the next 5 days this preauthorization against my acct by modchip.com will expire.

Whew! All I can say is DO NOT order from these people. Obviously there is a language barrier, it is very hard to communicate with these folks. Then there is the distance involved - excessively long shipping times. AVIOD THESE FOLKS!!

Contacted credit card company to see the status of modchip.com's "refund" to my account. Not only did they not cancel my order, they charged my account $37. Of ocurse I blew up on the visa customer service guy since I have been complaining since last week that modcip.com is a fraud - they still went ahead and let them charge my account. Modchip.com suxs. Visa says they'll remiburse the money - just all the trouble I am having to go through....
