"Hello Everyone, I don't know whats going on with MusiciansFriend. I have bought from them before as many other people have, always been satisfied until this purchase. In 11/02/06 17:58:47 I purchased a Line6 Spider III 15 Watt... No biggie and as promised it arrived in 5 days..

03/01/10 08:28:56 I Purchased a spider IV 15. There was a small problem with the billing address on my credit, and my shipping address as they are different. Musicians friend sent me a email with a number for me to call. I called it and within minuets the problem was solved, And the money deducted from my card. The customer service rep told me it would be shipped out that day.

On 03/02/10 I called customer service back after noticing from their website they had not shipped my amp yet, Customer service told me that my order was being packaged and would be sent out tomorrow.

I don't like being lied too.. Line6 sells thier amps ready to ship. all one need do is put the ups ticket on it. That was how my Spider III arrived. In the original box line6 has sold it to them. They gave me a tracking number on the 03/03/10. Two full days after my order. Now according to UPS my amp will not arrive until the 8th.. 7 days after my order, and not within the 2 to 5 business days they advertise..

I assume MusiciansFriend must be doing very well in these hard economic times. As such Ill take my future business elsewhere next time. Some company that understands that being honest with their customers is always the best policy..

I understand if a company has a problem. I will work with them when they are honest about it. MusiciansFriend was not honest to me, and procrastinated in filling my order. When they advertize 2 to 5 business days means just that.. If you can't deliver in that time. You had better have a creditable explanation as to why.

"I ordered two JUPITER 611RBSO flute from Musician's Friend last Nov. I got only one flute on Nov 30, 2009. I called their customer service center and confirmed that they only sent out one flute and the second one is in backorder. I got the second flute on Dec 11, 2009. So far, it doesn't look so bad.

My daughters took those two flutes to school band and their band teacher told them that one of those flute is defected. I called customer service center of Musician's Friend and got RTN# RTN100836 for exchanging the defected flute. After that, I had been calling their customer service center again and again but all I got is "We are expecting shipment in next couple days". On 02/10/2010, I really can not stand it anymore. I filed a compliant against Musician's Friend online at http://www.bbb.org/ . On 02/16/2010, Better Business Bureau received a response from Team Lead of Musician's Friend stating that they are expecting to receive a shipment on 2/1 and 2/5 respectively which will fill all backorders and they shall upgrade the shipping method of the exchange order to UPS Next Day Air at no charge. I convinced myself to give them another chance fulfill their promise. Two weeks passed and I still did not get my flute. I sent the Team Lead emails to find out what the situation is at four different days. But, guess what? Not a single response from them. It is very clear that they have no intension of delivering my flute to me. I check web site of Musician's Friend to look for the exact same flute. Guess what? It is marked as available and the price is about $30 - $40 higher than what I purchased before!

At this moment, I am reopening the case against Musician's Friend on Better Business Bureau and waiting for their response.

If you are thinking about purchasing instrument(s), do yourself a BIG favor, avoid this crappy company.

"HORRIBLE. Avoid at all costs. They "promise" to ship by the next day, I ordered on Monday, by Friday they still have not shipped. Part of the items (the "free gifts") went on "backorder" (even though they are still listed "available" if you want to buy them). I am not satisfied, will call again (for the 5th time) and cancel the order. HORRIBLE."

"Wow, these negative reviews are not kidding. I have been a customer of Musicians Friend for 10 years and never had a problem. However, this recent order became such a fiasco and I am out $200 with an issue still unresolved. I am appalled at how disorganized this company is.

Back in May, I ordered an electronic gift certificate for myself (they had a 20% off promotion). There is no expiration date on the certificate so I figured I can use it at anytime. It is a $200 certificate.

I finally get around to using it this month. Placing the order, the gift certificate properly discounted the $200. So I submitted it.

Two days later, no word, not even an initial email confirmation of the order. I call and find out that the gift certificate was rejected. I said it must be a mistake. I bought that gift certificate and I have never used it.

They told me they will correct the mistake and ship out the order ASAP.

Later that afternoon, I call to follow up and they tell me the order is being rejected and that I will get an email to tell me the bad news. I said that it must be a mistake. They say they will look into it.

So I call back later and asked them to cancel the order and refund me the original money I paid for the gift certificate since apparently they are not honoring it. They said they cannot do that, but that the manager is approving the order and will get it out next business day.

A few hours later, I receive an email saying the order has been cancelled, that the certificate is invalid, and that I am out of luck!

I call back again and they say the gift certificate is invalid and that they will need to do an investigation to see when it was used (hint: never!) and that it can take several days. Now I am stuck waiting and in a hurry to get my order!

This has been an enormously frustrating experience and I still see no resolution coming. Never order from these clowns, despite the good prices.

"I know this is pretty quick to write a review, but I'm not happy already. This is the first time I've made a purchase through Musician's Friend. I should have read these ratings first. Anyway, I placed 2 orders, one on the 20th (a guitar) and one on the 21st (equipment). I received an order confirmation and tracking information for the order I placed on the 21st that day. Wow, I thought, this place is great! But I wondered why I received no confirmation or tracking for the order placed on the 20th. Finally, I received an order confirmation for the 20th order 3 days later. Still no tracking, no updates on the website. I called Customer Service today, gave my order number, guy says oh, it shipped on Friday. I thought, great! But was still concerned that I didn't have a tracking number. DId some research, found this site and got worried. I called back, got a different guy, he says it was held up for verification, "should" ship out tomorrow. What? The order was held up for 6 days for verification, but the second order I placed was shipped, both orders used the same credit card. I told him I was very disappointed. The website states that orders will ship out within 24 hours, if the order is to be verified, that's only 24 hours. Why is it taking them 6 days to ship my order? I've also sent 2 emails to them in the past couple of days, with no response. We'll see what happens when I actually get the items and when I receive them. I can tell you right now that I will NEVER order from this place again. I am an avid internet shopper and this is poor business and customer service. "

"Not a musicians friend - I Ordered a Sound Percussion drum set for my son as a Christmas present. When I went to set it up on Christmas Eve I discovered that the set was packaged with missing, broken and incorrect parts. Very poor quality control from the manufacturer “SOUND PERCUSSION”. One of the floor tom legs was visibly larger than the other two and would not fit into the leg holder. I did not even receive a response from the manufacturer after multiple emails. Only response from Musicians Friend was to send the entire kit back for a replacement even though I only need a few minor correct parts. I ended up shipping the set back only to find out that the drums are now on backorder for several months. Most disappointing thing is that 2 weeks after I sent the drums back, they sent me the parts I needed which are no useless. I will never shop with this retailer again. "

"I have ordered many times from musiciansfriend, I have probably spent almost $10,000 there. Customer service has always been EXCELLENT for me. Even when orders were messed up or were missing items, they always went the extra mile to correct their mistake. I will probably be a lifetime customer for them!"

"DO NOT ORDER e-GIFT CERTIFICATES FROM THIS COMPANY. A month ago I redeemed a previously purchased e-gift certificate and then had some order problems which resulted in the order being cancelled. The order was cancelled--I never got any merchandise-- yet my e-gift certificate's status is "redeemed." It should be a simple call to Musicians Friend to clear this up but it was not.

The customer service rep could not find my order. When he finally did, he said he would "transfer my request to their gift certificate department, which would take 1 to 2 months to resolve"!!!! What a joke, and a scam at that. I am not without my gig equipment, even after multiple phone calls and letters to management.

"Terrible service - this store is to be avoided. I was trying to get a gift certificate in time for Xmas, so ordered an e-certificate on the store's website, to be sent to my email address. The order was processed and my credit card was charged a couple days later. The day after the card was charged I still did not receive the e-certificate. I talked to someone in customer service, who apologized and said it would be sent within 24 hrs.

3 days later (now just after Xmas) I still didn't have it. At this point I had to call again to cancel the order. Now waiting to see if they'll actually refund the money.

"They sent me a defective filthy amplifier. It took me an hour to clean off all the dirt and dust. No power cord supplied so I had to go out and buy one. UPS trashed the crappy shipping box they used (looked like it was used 20 times) so I had to go out and buy a heavy duty box to ship the amp back to them. Even though they paid for return shipping I am still at a net loss because the box cost $15 and the cord cost $5. For a net loss of $20. On top of that I had to borrow an amp for rehearsals and gigs. Their business model is simple. They throw as much junk to the public as they can and see what sticks. They call themselves Musicians Friend? more like Musicians Enemy."

"Ordered Pulse Pro drum set with hardware and cymbals on a Cyber-Monday deal. Customer service was good taking the order. Order was shipped in a timely manner. Problem is the shell pack (drums/heads) came in a large box that was very damaged and appeared to have been packed upside down before it shipped based on the UPS label. Box flaps were taped across protruding contents. Contents damage was minimal and delivery was accepted. I believe they may have been returns that were sent back out as new. I expected better packaging."

"I placed an online order for a Yamaha digital piano - the product page said "Ships Free Today!"

Two days later, still waiting for confirmation, I called customer service where a rude phone operator said that verification was running behind. No kidding. No offer to help other than to suggest I call back in a couple of hours.

Thanks to the misleading come-on and the snarky customer service, I canceled the order.

"12/15/09 UPDATE: Yesterday morning, after 45 minutes on the phone, it appears Musician's Friend will now refund all my money. The refunds should appear in my bank account by Friday. Further update by me at that time.

12/14/09 UPDATE: Just returned from the 7 day cruise to find Musician's Friend has refunded me $113.96 when they owe me $589.76! Calling this A.M. to scream again.

The Behringer 802 Xenyx mixer & the Vestax VDA 1000 power amp were ordered by me Wed nite from Musician's Friend to ship UPS 1 day, so they'd arrive Fri, & be on the plane with me Sat to New Orleans, & Sun on a 7 day cruise, to play my gig. Thurs email from Musician's Friend said the Behringer 802 Xenyx was shipped overnight, as requested, and the Vestax VDA 1000 was shipped ground, to arrive the next Tuesday, after I'd already left on the cruise where I needed it. Musician's Friend made me buy another Vestax VDA 1000 & have it shipped overnight to the Ramada Inn in New Orleans, to arrive Sat where I'd be spending the nite. This required me to call my bank & change my home address to the Ramada Inn in New Orleans so the Musician's Friend verification process would work, which is always required by them before shipping. My email this morn included one from Musician's Friend, saying this second purchased Vestax VDA 1000 amp was shipped ground also! They screwed me up twice! So my call this morn to Musician's Friend had me screaming for almost 2 minutes, being put on hold for 4 min, then told it was too late to help me, so they'd have to give me a refund, & file a Return to Sender on all 3 items. I didn't want a refund, I wanted the sound equipment! I told the floor manager at Musician's Friend they were only 40 minutes from the Kanas City airport, & they could get a Vestax VDA 1000 to me air frieght to the Ramada Inn in New Orleans. He told me Musician's Friend didn't do this, which to me is a strong indicator of the Musician's Friend true lack of concern for customer service. Now my bank will get my call to change my address back. What a pain!

"Screwed again by Musician's Friend - I found an excellent deal on a Yamaha Tour Custom drumset online at Musician's Friend the day after Thanksgiving.. so I excitedly purchased it. It came with a rebate for a free Yamaha bass pedal, I couldn't believe the deal I was getting! I paid for the drums with Paypal, and the money was immediately deducted from my Paypal account, but 5 days later I still hadn't received a confirmation email from Musician's Friend, so I called them up,gave them my web purchase confirmation number and all the other information they asked for.. and about 12 minutes later a girl came back on the phone and told me that the drumset was discontinued, and I was sh*t out of luck, basically. No explanation was given as to why they sold me a discontinued, out of stock item, but it wouldn't matter anyway, becuase it was a lie -- they're still selling the exact same kit, only now it costs twice as much money. The girl didn't waste the opportunity to try and sell me another drumset, either - a worthless beginner's kit - and that is bait and switch, people. Deceptive business practices like this have made me realize Musician's Friend is no place to be spending my money, and I'm not shopping there anymore. This wasn't the first time I've gotten burned by them, but it will be the last. I thought I had a new drumset coming my way, so I sat out my next best chance to buy one - Cyber Monday - but it turns out that Musician's Friend lied to me, and now it's too late. -- Buyer beware."

"Poor customer service, ordered std. strat hss on Sunday with a few other accessories. In stock, next day shipping.

Wednesday i get the strap but nothing else... Thursday evening I'm still waiting for the rest of my order, I call and they give me a lame excuse that my order is waiting for a truck. So I'm S**t out of luck for the weekend gig, if they deliver at all. Dont trust them for anything time critical. At best you might get your purchase but dont count on it. Doubt I will shop there again.
