Awful blouse

"I received a $70 blouse whose colors were very different from the online advertised pic. In addition, it was described as polyester when in fact it was a cheap, thin and like Velcro (sticking onto itself). I contacted customer service for a prepaid return label. I was given instructions on how to mail back the item at my expense or use their label at a $9.99 reduction in my refund IF they agreed it was returnable!! AND it could take them up to 3 weeks!! No. I’ll never order another thing from them. Save yourself the headache. Norm Thompson is not a high end retailer-just high costs without a modicum of customer service. "

Biggest Ripoff pulled on people! How do they get away with it?

"I ordered by phone for first time ever. I’ve never bought anything from them before. I got three items and paid $12.99 for shipping. I normally wear size large, sweaters fit great, cotton shirt seemed to be size x-small, and would not go over my shoulders. I then noticed “ Made in China “ on all the tags; Chinese sizes run smaller than US so I figured they they used their size. I called Nora Thompson order number and spoke to a condescending man who was hesitant about connecting me to a supervisor when he explained in no uncertain terms, I would have to pay $9.99 for postage to return the blouse. Finally, a so called Mr. McMillan came on the line and miraculously, he had the same condescending voice, lightly changed to be a supervisor. He said he would waive the shipping fee for one time and I could order another size. He was very amused with his conversation , I knew he would get the package from me and find a way to keep the blouse and my money.
When I called to initially order for the first time, I should have been told about their return policy. I know they deal with elderly people who don’t want any problems, but how can they get away with charging all this money for shipping when the true sizes are not US sizes? It’s cheaper for me to donate their merchandise to a church.

Poor Quality & Poor Service

" I usually make it a habit not to pay shipping on purchases or return shipping. However, the items I found in the catalog were, what I thought, perfect for my needs as described and as shown in photos. So I paid the shipping, received my items 2 1/2 weeks after I ordered them and then was extremely disappointed with all three items. The items were made of cheap fabric and not at all as described and shown. I called customer service, spoke to a representative and then to her supervisor and got the same rote answer. They said they had no control over waving return shipping or anything else. They also told me that the returns department would make that decision on whether to charge me on return shipping. There is no way I was told to contact the return department so if they did charge me for the return shipping, I would have no recourse. I just got my credit which was minus the return shipping. I canceled my account my email and asked them to take me off of anything they had me on. The supervisor I talked to didn’t say anything but “be glad to”. I will never do business with this company or another like it. Total disregard for the customer and no way to appeal. "

These people are crooks!!!

"I ordered a pair of Jag Jeans, slim leg. They were surely an " irregular", or a "second" because while the waist and hips fit just as the other 9 pairs of Jag jeans in my closet, but the "slim" legs were very wide. Customer service returned my original investment but were not willing to return my shipping which is not standard practice for a good retailer when an item is made incorrectly. The customer service person lied to me saying the Jag company manufactures apparel due to NORM THOMPSON's specifications. WHAT A LIE! i have called the Attorney General's office to report this scam company. Don't buy from this egregious, disrespectful, scam company!!!

Terrible from start to finish!

"I was looking for duck fat and found it on sale at Norm Thompson so I ordered it. All was fine until I wanted to use a different shipping address from my billing address. Billing address is a P. O. Box which I was forced to use as my shipping address. 3 or 4 days later I check the status and it says it is backordered. Ok.....no big deal. A few days later I get a letter saying that they need my physical address as the vender can't ship to a PO box. Duh! So I call them the next business day to give them my physical address and I'm told they cancelled my order......so now she says she will place the order for me but guess what?????? It's now sold out! I will never order from them again!"

"I ordered two silk mock sweaters from Norm Thompson in OCT. I kept one as a CHRISTMAS gift and wore and washed the other. It washed perfectly. Today I washed the second sweater and it ripped apart at the neckline. I called Customer Service and was told to return the item but not to use the USPS label enclosed with the purchase because a charge of 9.99 would be deducted from my refund. Instead I was to mail the item as directed on the back of the form so this $9.99 charge could be avoided. I was then told that I would not get a refund because the purchase was more than 60 days prior. I would receive a merchandise credit. The item was obviously defective and I was quite displeased.
I will not be returning the item and I will not be purchasing from NORM THOMPSON in the future.

Gives customers false information; no concern over informing giver that recipient returned gift

"My daughter received a gift from Norm Thompson, which she didn't like. I called customer service to see exactly how to exchange it for something else, and was told that I shouldn't exchange the item, that it'd be better to return it for a refund, then use the money to order something else. Falsehood #1

So, I filled out the return form, which had a choice of two boxes to check: refund to original purchase method, or mail a refund check to the recipient (my daughter). Falsehood #2

I chose the refund check to my daughter. I was very careful to fill it out correctly because I didn't want my mother-in-law to know her granddaughter didn't like her gift. After two months and no check received, I called, and was told legally they cannot send a refund check to my daughter, it must be credited to the credit card used to purchase it. My mother-in-law. Who now knows my daughter didn't like the gift she gave her, because she unexpectedly received a refund credit.

All the customer service supervisor could tell me was "they should change that form because legally, we have to refund the purchaser". Ya think? She also told me I could have avoided this by doing an exchange. Which I was told not to do. I told her, "YES, you SHOULD change the form, and you should also train your customer service reps not to tell customers not to do exchanges. (Although to be honest, there was literally nothing my daughter (or I) liked in the same price range as the original gift.)

Horrible customer service. Will never do business with them again.

"If you were a fan of this company 25 years ago and haven't ordered from them recently, I have a serious suggestion for you...DON'T! I used to love the men's shorty tricot pajamas, and recently decided to replace 3 pair of torn and tattered ones from many years ago. Not only have they cheapened the fabric, but they've shrunk the sizes while increasing the price! It also took Norm Thompson 10 DAYS to ship, despite the items being in stock! When I called to find out why my order hadn't been sent, I was told "we can't seem to find your order, sir." My reply..."well, you'd better, you charged our credit card 6 days ago." I will not shop here again, nor do I recommend you do!"

"Customer service for this company is non-existent. I recently returned an item for a size exchange using the prepaid label. After two weeks, I called to check the status of the return and (after being on hold for more than 5 minutes) was told that it often takes up to 3 weeks to process, to give it another week. They would not even try to track the item. I was told that I'd get an email when the exchange was processed. If I don't hear from them, I'll have to repeat the phone call and long wait, and still not sure if I'll ever get the item or even a refund if it isn't available. I do NOT recommend this company!"

"Norm Thompson used to be a very good company, but I can't say that any more. I placed an order online. They didn't like the address, which was a perfectly good address. Did they call me? No. Did they email me? No. Two weeks later I received a postcard telling me to call them about the order. Two weeks! I called and told them it was a good address and two days later they finally shipped it. I have been a customer for many years, but they will no longer be getting my business."

"I bought a nightgown from them. First they shipped me the wrong size. I shipped it back via my own carrier and they still charged me $9.99 shipping to send it back. Then I got the correct size and the it tore in 1 night. I sent it back again via my own carrier and again they charged me shipping of $9.99. I did not use their label and even wrote on the slip not to charge me shipping, but they did anyway - Twice! Will never buy from them again."

"norm Thompson shipped an item even though I cancelled the item by two emails two months ago. When I called their customer service, to protest, they said well you should have called us. And no, we won't send you a prepaid mailing label to return item! Lousy attitude and lousy customer service "

"Terrible company. I placed an order and a month later had not received it. I found out that because one item was not available they had put the whole order on hold. When I emailed to ask about it, they cancelled that one item and emailed back that they were sending the rest. Even though it was within 20 minutes of receiving the email that I sent one back asking to cancel the whole order, I was told that it was "too late" and that the order would be processed. What a bunch of jerks. I am still fighting with them by email to try to cancel it. "

"This is the rudest spamming company that does not respect it's customers and their requests! I've requested to be removed from your catalog list 7 (seven) times since February, filed 2 complaints and called in person at least twice. A representative of your company, Vicky, assured me that I will not be getting more catalogs. And today here it is, your catalog, again. I do not understand why your company is so rude and shameless and ignoring multiple requests to stop spamming and waste paper! I do not want your products! It's just plain rude, unprofessional, and does not help your brand at all. I really had enough. Buyer beware: this company does not respect it's customers."
