" I am by no means a computer geek, but I feel I do have enough knowledge to work my way around a computer, and order what I what in a new machine.After having spent a great deal of time researching exactly what I wanted in a custom built computer, I sent inquiry's out to various manufacturers seeking a quote on what I desired. You know, P-4 3.2, I gig memory, two large hard drives, DVD player, DVD writer, card reader, XP-PRO, etc.,etc.,etc. Orpheus Computing out of Baton Rouge , La. responded with the best price.
many companies would not even build one to my specifications, and those that would were out of what I was willing to pay. To my amazement, the owner, himself responded and spent many e-mails answering the various questions that I had concerning the building of this new "Hot Rod". We spent a month or so back and forth with the owner offering information, and then patiently explaining items that I had questions on. Orpheus expected a down payment before building but our previous correspondence instilled such confidence that when we agreed on the final price, I forwarded the entire amount.
When the finished machine arrived, earlier than I had really expected I was amazed at what a fast, hot machine they had built for me. In addition to the hardware installed, there were many programs installed that were used in various stages of building and testing this custom built machine that they had told me in the e-mails were installed and the proper way to use them. As we corresponded during the building stage, I passed on the various e-mails to some of my friends here in upstate New York, who were simply amazed at the knowledge put forth by Orpheus Computing. A couple of them were so impressed that they vow to order their next computer from Orpheus.
Another fact that should be taken into account as well, is the fact that while my machine was being assembled, the South was devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Although the owner filled me in on where the computer status was, he also filled me in on the terrible conditions that he and his family were experiencing in Baton Rouge. I felt no need to push for completion of my computer in light of what was happening down there, as mentioned above, my computer arrived earlier than expected.
Finally, as I took the time necessary to change over from my old machine to the new one, I received daily e-mails from Orpheus making sure that things were operating as they should. Any questions I asked were quickly answered, and follow-up was complete. My association with the owner was not only very pleasing, and favorably financially, but I have come to the point where I consider him a friend.
