"I was sold over $200,000 of bad phones "
"What a scam PaceButler is! Do yourself a favor and save some headaches, don’t send anything to PaceButler. PaceButler will come up with all types of excuses to not pay you. You will have to remind them that you sent devices. They will postpone paying as long as possible. I had to send many follow up emails, even though they stated they would get back to me. I often sell old devices when upgrading company devices. I was always given better pricing from other companies that I usually go through, and others pay what they state they will pay. I told PaceButler that I have better pricing and I was told that the owner of PaceButler gave ‘special’ permission to match. I decided to go with them, however my gut told me not to. I wanted to give them a try. What a mistake. I should only have sent about 25 phones not over 200 to see what they would do with them. All iPhones were charged and removed from our systems. I physically handled all these devices and damaged devices were not sent. PaceButler came up with all types of excuses to not pay on devices. Reducing the ‘special pricing’ that I was given to almost zero dollars on most of the devices. Housing-Bent, Housing-Scratched, LCD-Screen Burn, LCD-Burned, Bad Battery, Broken Glass, ESN-Lost or Stolen, were a few of the excuses used. Remember I charged each device, powered on, and removed all from Apple Business Manager and our Mobile Device Management, cleaned each one and packed each device well from damage as I normally do. No other company I have sent to has ever told me that I sent broken devices, bad batteries, nor LCD-screen burned. Do yourself a favor and do not deal with PaceButler. PaceButler constantly bugged me for devices for years. Amazingly once I sent over 200 devices to them, all communication stopped for weeks. I ended up contacting them to find out what the status was. An email came back with thousands of dollars removed as they stated many were damaged or not working as described above. My company now has been scammed out of thousands of dollars, and they will not return any devices including the many they deemed zero dollars. I would recommend not using PaceButler at all. The only positive reviews I saw were made from PaceButler employees. Don’t be scammed out of money like I was, use someone else to sell your old devices too!"
"Sent 5 iPhones and an iPad. Weeks later nothing but crickets from PB. Many emails later and FedEx proof of delivery and promises a check in the mail, still nothing from them. Based on their rates, I should be due just over $200. Never again. "
"Do not do business with even when you send in working devices (45 pounds of them) we got $13. HUGE WASTE OF TIME!!"
"I am the founder of Pacebutler my name is Tom Pace. We buy cell phones from businesses and individuals in the United States. We have been in business for over 32 years. I am proud of all of the people that work here. Our company vision is to build great lives. I believe in a win-win relationship or no deal. We started in 1987 buying used IBM mainframes."
"The employees are amazing friendly people, They also make sure they are not only in touch with their customers, but they have relationships with the customers. At PaceButler they are not just some company they try to better peoples lives at work and off duty! Wonderful place!"
"Sent my phones in and a rep called me to have fedex pick up the phones. I sent them and then got a check for 35 bucks.... I was going to throw them away. "
"Very unpleased sent 9 phones received 0 dollars and cents!!!!"
"I sent 2 IPhone 5s to Pacebutler, They stayed in communication with me through the whole process I was impressed with how fast i received my check and how nice the people were i got $550 in 6 days. I love what they do as a company donating books and stuff I will definitely be using them again"
"I sent in 5 very nice used android razors. One had cracked glass. Pacebutler told me that 3 out of the five were damaged
or software was curropt. I know that they were fine when I sent them in....What a waste of time. there has got to be someone else more honest than these people."
"I sent in two phones to PaceButler. I charged both phones and cleared their memory before sending them in. For as old as the phones were, they were in pretty good condition. I mailed my phones in expecting to get $2 for each phone. I got a letter back saying that 1 phone was defective for "water damage" and the other was defective for "housing damage". Well, neither phone has ever been near a body of water, so the water damage was just false. The other phone had a minor crack due to wear and tear so I might have let that slide if they accepted the other phone. To make a long story short, if you send a phone in, expect for PaceButler to come up with some lame excuse as to why they cannot pay you anything.
(Update 10/19/2012: After I sent a strong worded e-mail of feedback to PaceButler, someone from PaceButler called me back and explained that a "water damage sensor" was activated inside the phone which is not necessarily triggered by water (i.e. it could be condensation or high humidity that triggers that). Since I live in a city with high humidity, I can understand that. Also, that phone was not technically on their list as it just had a similar naming convention as another phone. Since PaceButler made the effort to call me back and even offered to pay me for the other phone with the crack in the housing, I don’t think that they are a scam as I mentioned earlier)."
"I sold a total of 27 phones to pacebutler. I checked the buy list and made sure that most of my phones were being bought. at at $2-$5 per phone i figured i'd get at least $50. i got the check for $4 from them. They gave me the breakdown and there was phones on the list that they said they no longet buy anymore and recycled them for free. 1 phone had water damage and another had a broken keypad. ALL of the other phones had been recycled for free because of "case damage". i suppose if there are scratches on a phone then it's no good. Do yourself a favor and do not get your money taken from you and look elsewhere. Pacebutler will not give you the amount that it appears."
"What a ripoff do not use this site unless you want $1.50 for a Blackberry Curve that was ready to use -empty...They are really a BS Co. Make themselves Holy. Don't go there."
"I should have read the reviews before I sent in my phones. Of the 5 phones that i sent them, they only paid me $5 for 1 of them. They said that there was keypad damage, LCD damage and water damage on 3 of them. Nonsense. I charged all of them up and removed all of my phone info in each data base. They worked well. I can understand not getting money for 1 of them because it was quite old. I wold not deal with this company in the future. "
"I submitted 3 cell phones to PaceButler and was provided a list of cell phone purchase prices. I looked up my cell phones to see what they were worth. My cell phones were a bit outdated but were in working order and were on their buy back list. I called to find out why I hadn't heard anything back, a manager by the name of Beth Nelson told me that all of the cell phones were damaged. This was an outright lie. I was outraged and demanded to have my cell phones returned to me. Beth Nelson indicated it was not possible to get them back because they were put in for recycling. I am in the process of reporting them to the BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU! THIS COMPANY IS AN OUTRIGHT SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!! BEWARE AND STAY CLEAR AWAY FROM THIS CORRUPT COMPANY. AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION WILL BE FOLLOWED ON THEM....."
