"I am a reptile rescuer and rehabilitator. I contacted Pet Blvd. several weeks ago with an inquiry about a TRex brand Active UV Heat UVB mercury vapor reptile lamp they were selling. They showed only one left in stock, and I inquired about the batch code on the lamp, which is found stamped on the base of the bulb.

The reason? Because a great many of those lamps were recalled long ago for manufacturing defects caused by glass that was actually too clear, and caused harmful levels of UV radiation to escape, causing injury and death in pet reptiles.

My reason was two fold by contacting their customer service. One - if the batch code showed it was just a never sold surplus lamp...I would buy it, because they aren't available anywhere right now. Second - if it was from the affected batch codes, my intent was to inform them they they had a proven dangerous product on their shelf which should be removed from advertisement on the web.

Pet Blvd. was less than concerned. Typical of daft customer service reps these days, who have zero use for providing an accurate or helpful answer, the rep. advised me that their warehouse manager said to contact TRex with any product inquiries!

These people are useless. TRex would NOT be able to tell me the actual batch code of the lamp sitting on their shelf, and as they only have ONE in stock, it shouldn't be a difficult task to find the thing and fire off an email with the batch code; thus, potentially making a sale, or alternatively removing a dangerous product from the shelf that should have been returned in the recall over a year ago!

There has been no follow up response from them in over 3 weeks, indicating that they take this concern seriously. From what I can tell, they will simply sell it, dangerous or not, if they can. For this one reason alone, I will never do business with them in any capacity. This willingness to sell the product is all I need to know about this company's priorities."

"I have made several purchase from Pet Boulevard over the past couple years. Their site design does not inspire confidence that this is an up and up company, but based on orders and talking with them, they are.

I get nearly all of my cichlid supplies from them. I find they have the best price and selection of any web site or store. I also look at the expiration dates on product I receive from them and the products are fresh meaning they have a big turnover there.

I have had excellent service. Most times the product arrives in 2 business days of order. I purchase food, cleaning fluids, chemical fluids, air stones, and filters from them. Always very satisfied."

Two balls I received (the same type) were defective, but customer support was very kind about it and I ended up receiving a refund since the balls were discontinued by the manufacturer. also, to clarify, I was just unlucky because I chose an item that was defective. it was the manufacturer's fault, not pet blvd.
