"I purchased a high-performance gaming computer from Planet Computers in March 2005 with a 12 month on-site warranty. It developed performance problems within 2 days of set up. They don't honor their warranty, instead they have the customer ship it back for repairs. (It weights 34 lbs.)

I've done that twice and it still doesn't work. I disputed it through my credit card company and the most Planet Computers will do is refund a part of the purchase price if the computer is in condition to resell, which it isn't because it doesn't work.

Read the warranty terms and conditions before you even look at the products or place an order. You can't cancel an order or return merchandise without paying them to do so. Note: if you want to contact the BBB about them their name is "PlanetComputer.com Inc" not Planet Computers. Also, you will find a 4-minute form if you search "consumer fraud reporting" which notifies the FTC of business performance failures. Please use it since their legal page claims to take away our rights to file class-action litigation.

This bad experience will stop me from purchasing through internet only companies in the future. It isn't worth it!"

"Purchased a gaming pc from this company and did not receive the speakers that I paid for with the order. After four calls to customer service to try to resolve issue, they referred me to the company CEO. He informed me he would resolve the issue but am still waiting after 8 weeks, and now the CEO does not even answer or return calls. This has been an experience of extremely poor customer service, and now I am concerned with product warranty service as a whole. I am still trying to get the speakers or a refund for amount paid for the speakers."

"I placed an order with this company via their web site. When the package arrived, I found that the invoice did not match what I had ordered. Among the discrepancies, I was sent Cyber Acoustics 3090 3-piece speakers, when I had ordered and paid for Cyber Acoustics 5640 6.1 surround sound speakers. In addition, the Iiyama Pro Lite E433-B 17" monitor that I ordered and paid for was not shipped. I e-mailed and called the company multiple times. After first being told that the monitor should have arrived, then being told that it had not been shipped but would be sent overnight mail once it arrived, then being told it was unavailable and they would try to find me an equivalent monitor, I was finally told last week that my account would be credited for the price of the monitor. But I was told they only do credits on Mondays. As of this writing (Tuesday) the credit has not shown up. As to the speakers, I was told that they would be shipped right away. Then I was told they would be shipped when the memory they were sending to replace the inferior memory they had installed (but that's another story) was shipped. Then they told me that I would receive the speakers and memory last Thursday. Then on Friday they said they'd track the package for me, but didn't get back to me. On Monday, the company president told me he was too busy to speak with me, and I should call when he got in at 9 am on Tuesday. But when I called, he was too busy to speak with me. The company president says he has e-mailed me multiple times, although I have yet to receive an e-mail from him, so I can only communicate with him via telephone. However, another of his staff members was able to send to me without trouble. All I want is for the company to talk to me and bring this transaction to closure."

"I was looking for a Media Center PC and came across Planet Computers web site. After exhausting research and going through other media center web sites I decided too purchase the HDX700 Media Center PC. I made my purchase on the 12/14/04 with the promise from Planet Computers to get the PC built and delivered before Christmas. The PC arrived on 12/23/04, one day before the day they promised. I was exstatic and open the box only to find a problem which required a new PC to be built and re shipped. Working with Adam(CEO), Brad(Systems Engineer) and Will(Sales) from Planet Computers they made up for the mistake with an upgraded PC and rush to deliver the new PC in mid January. The PC arrived and is incredible. Planet Computers is a customer friendly company to work with and would recommend purchasing a computer from them in the future. They went up and above the call of duty by configuring the dual 300 gig SATA drive in an Intel Matrix RAID configuration, recovering from a shipping problem and making it right for the customer. I enjoyed calling Planet Computers an talking directly to the people building the computer and talking directly to the right people without going through a switchboard or FAQS.

PS - If you don't see what your looking for on their web site, call them because that is where this company excels. They work with their customers to provide a solution that makes everybody happy!"

"Planet Computers is great in everything I have had to do with them. From the moment, I called and placed the order, and to all the help along the way, they have been great!

I am a typical gamer who wants speed and the must powerful computer I can find and afford, so like everyone else I went to Dell and got the Dimension XPS Gen3. However, after receiving and hooking it all up, I soon realized that I had a lemon. Yes, the power and speed was there, but it was a very “loud” PC, to have a normal conversation in the room was not possible – you would have to shout (NOT a way to have a friendly gaming environment). Therefore, I called Dell’s support (located in India, not USA) and they said that they only had a few PCs with this problem and their “tech” people were working on it, and then they sent out someone to fix it. Well after two repair people and still not working, it went back. That is a hassle in a different “story” (whoever said that Dell has great customer service has either lied or never had to deal with them). To receive the refund after sending it back, took even longer than they did to make the “noisy” product.

After getting the refund I was looking for a new gaming PC, doing a research on Google I came across “Planet Computers” (which was located in the San Diego region, in my state). I ordered the Game X7 and customized it up to what I wanted (this was on 12/7/04) and received it on 12/17 with a few problems, mostly due to shipping with UPS (which they dropped and went with FedEx) and some due to bad manufacturing parts. I had to ship it back to replace the bad parts and they promised to have it fix before Christmas. On 12/23, I received the new computer and set it up – it worked flawlessly.

It is now about a month from whence I received and started using this machine and it is fast, quiet, and powerful. The spec’s on this machine is P4 (570J) 3.8Ghz, 1Gig memory, with ATI Radeon X800 XT and the bus is PCI Express, the hard drives are all Serialized.
So wanted to put it through its paces, tested with some of my games that I new on my other PC would heat it up, and make the fans whirl. This new PC never produced any more noise than the standard background hum and the internal temperatures never went over 85 degrees Fahrenheit (not Celsius either) – that is very cool. That much power without the noise from the fans, this was the PC of my dreams and I got it from a great place with the greatest crew and staff.

I cannot say enough for these people, they have bent over backwards for me, as I believe they do for all the customers. I would especially like to thank Adam and Brad for all that they have done for me. Planet Computers is the company for me!
