"I had two Apple Mac Books sitting around our house, and I used PowerOn to recycle. Prompt service, easy to use and mail the items, and received quoted price in a form of an Apple gift certificate within two weeks. Very happy and pleased with the service and glad to see at least the machines are being recycled. Would use their service again."
"BEWARE! I turned in a computer & received a gift card, which was then compromised, & they wouldn't do anything about it. I am just out $800"
"I got a $55 quote to buy my old PC from Power-On. It was in perfect working condition and looked great. When Power-On received it, they sent me a pic with a small ding on the case - I doubt it was there when I sent it to them, but I guess it could have happened during shipping. Still, even in the pic it was hardly noticeable. They told me that, due to the ding, the PC was WORTHLESS. I'm guessing they scam people to give them their old PCs for free, then re-sell the parts. So, buying from them is probably ok, but if you ship them your PC, expect that they won't give you anything for it. Apple should prevent Power-On from advertising on their sites!!!"
"Very, very, very, very, disappointed with PowerOn. My only hope is that anyone thinking about doing business with them reads my post along with some of the others before sending in your computer. I assumed they were a branch of Apple so had high confidence. I received a decent quote for a barely used computer but when they " audited" my computer, they reduced their offer to $80.00. Based on other posts, I am making an assumption that their goal is to get your unit, then low ball you and hope you simply take the low quote to avoid the extra hassle of having it shipped back and trying to sell it. Please understand that this will probably happen to you as well. Save yourself some time, effort, and anxiety. Do not use PowerOn under any circumstances."
"Do not use PowerOn as to recycle/trade in your pc/laptop.
I was quoted a good $360 on an i5 laptop with excellent condition, after two weeks the audit came back with a "broken hinge" and it was rated "poor" and the quotation was reduced to $80. It didn't looked like a "broken hinge" but more like "opened hinge". From the picture of the audit, it seemed like the fastener on the hinge was opened up intentionally to mimic a flaw.
Please think twice before sending your computer."
"I recently sold an old MacBook to PowerOn's recycling program and was excited to put the amount towards a new MacBook Air. I filled out all the information PowerOn asked for: Does it start up successfully? Yes. What is the cosmetic condition? Good. Does its internal hardware function properly? Yes. The item has a working battery? Yes. What is the display's condition. Good. I have: removed all passwords, supplied the power adapter, included the operating disc system. Yes, yes, and yes (including a brand new power adapter I had recently purchased to replace my original one).
I was quoted, and was sent all of the packing materials to send my laptop to them, which seemed pretty great. Free shipping and they sent me the materials to pack my computer. I was excited to be quoted for $300, which would more than help with the cost of a new laptop. Several weeks later I got an email telling me that my quote had been finished and I would only be getting $80 because apparently I lied about the quality of my laptop, which was no better than "Poor" all around. Included in the email were several attachments of blurry pictures indicating 1 pixel (literally ONE pixel) that had gone dead on the screen. Go figure that one pixel is worth $220!
Don't even bother with their Apple recycling program. They deliberately quote you outrageously high by asking you vague questions and failing to mention the criteria with which they judge your electronics in order to get your business. Then, once they have your product, they make a point to casually inform you that they're taking 70% off your quote. I will NEVER use this service again, and I would strongly encourage you to look at other options for recycling your electronics. EBay probably would have been a better choice for me, but PowerOn gave an incredibly reasonable (yet misleading) quote. Stay far, far away. They're crooks."
"I've ordered from them a bunch of times. I consider it one of the best websites to order a replacement power supply. I've always had a good shopping experiences."
"They sent me a used battery and didn't take it back!
How would you feel if someone sent you a used item that even a 4 year old can say it's used and insist in it being a new item?
I placed an order for a "new" D400 battery but despite what the item description claimed in bold letters, the battery they sent me was not new. There were several "very obvious" usage marks on the item including scratches, a small dent, a faded label. I contacted them right away. They failed to acknowledge the fact and simply suggested I returned the item through RMA (they have a 30 day money back). Obviously, I had to pay for the shipping both ways (Thay'd charged me about $6.78 for shipping such a small item).
I'm the least bit happy with the way they conducted this business. It was a waste of time and money for me."
"I was pleased to find a replacement power supply for my Gateway PC at power-on.com. Less than half for the same power supply from Gateway sales. Fast shipping and great communication."
"fair pricing, great stock, FAST response and shipping. I ordered a replacement power supply for a client's 3 year old HP Pavilion PC. They had the right part, in stock, and got it out to me very quickly. The partly was shiny new, and worked perfectly. They were quick with email updates and tracking info. I will *definitely* use Power-On again. "
"Ordered a Dell Computer/Monitor special they had. I had a VERY good experience with them. The product came promptly, the product was VERY well packaged, and it looked like they went 'all-out' and even bought custom foam to hold the computer in place. I was very impressed with the quality of the components and I will not hesitate again to purchase another setup. The only downside is that they gave me no email confirmation to tell me the product had shipped. I couldn't find a way to determine what the tracking number was from their online store. I was hoping of some sort of tracking info so I could schedule my day around the delivery.
Aside from that, it was a great purchase, a great value, and a great product. "
"I ordered a Dell Celeron 466 mini system from these guys on August 31st on the last day of their $70 deal on 'em ($40 if you had a coupon). I used the cheapest shipping option but lo and behold the thing showed up 2 days later! Perhaps this is props that should go to UPS but I think PowerON probably has worked to make sure UPS gets their stuff there ASAP. The system arrived in pretty good shape: it was a little dirty but some rubbing alcohol cleaned off all of the marks on it. Nothing inside or outside appears to be broken or even remotely damaged aside from some normal wear-and-tear stuff on the case you'd expect to see on any old system like this. I haven't been able to test out the performance of the machine yet but if it's anything like the rest of it I should be very happy.
UPDATE: I've been using the system now for about a month as a router/firewall. Works great, though unfortunately the CD-ROM has issues. (It makes loud noises whenever you access anything from the disk) Anyway, very happy."
"Ordered from the company, got an ack e-mail. Another e-mail when they shipped. Although they listed the supply as replacement for another, there were issues with the supply fitting in the case. Took a grinder to the plate and took care of that. This company is great..."
"Great products, great price and awesome service. I ordered a power supply on Christmas Eve, and it was in my mailbox on New Years Eve!! And that was mailing it to an APO in Germany. If you need a power supply, this is the place to go."
"Good Service and fast response. They had trouble billing my credit card because I was shipping to a different address but they fix it. The product is of good quality."
