"I've had to use my Protectcell plan multiple times over the years for my teenage son and I've been pleased every time. I pay the fee, and it's fast, easy, and hassle free. We love it! Thank you!!"
"I was also disappointed in the "Admin Fee" of $150 as I paid A LOT upfront to have insurance on two phones. I wish I had not been talked in to buying it from the Verizon salesman. My daughter cracked her screen, I took it to a repair shop and had it fixed for the same price as the "Admin Fee". Then it broke again I filed a claim on it this time, paid the fee on a Friday and received her phone on a Monday. So I like the fast service but not the hidden fee. Next time I will NOT buy protection. "
"Omg do not buy this plan .. we bought the best one that was pushed on us by z wireless over the verizon plan.. said no deductible and covers everything.. my phone has been acting up and i finally got through today only to find out its a ripoff .. all that money we paid up front for nothing. a $125 administrative fee aka a replacement fee. DO NOT BUY"
"Terrible! Was never told about the $150 "administration fee". I paid it and when I received my new phone there were no instructions or communication in the box. I called protect cell to find out what the next step was and was rudely told "We don't provide instructions on the next step because we assume it would be obvious. Take it to Verizon and pay to have it activated. " So on top of being made to feel like a fool, the initial fee to purchase protect cell, the admin fee, and the activation fee it would have been much cheaper and less humiliating to purchase a refurbished phone on amazon. When I told customer service that he was rude, that I was dissatisfied and wished to return the phone and cancel my contract, not only was no effort made to keep my business and rectify the situation, the rep became ruder, and said I had had the phone over 15 days, (which I did not, It was less than 24 hours) and that the misunderstanding with the return and admin fees where my fault for not reading the fine print in the contract. When I asked the agent to speak with someone else due to his rudeness I was told that he was a supervisor and my only recourse was to send an e-mail to the corporate office. After 20 minutes he finally agreed to let me return the device . I would NEVER recommend this service. Rude customer service inadequate communication, and hidden fees...Shame on you Protectcell "
"I began this hellish process on 1/5/15 after dropping my new phone (bought within the last 30 days) in water. I called Protectcell about the replacement. I was told to send proof of purchase. I faxed paperwork that proved I had purchased the Protectcell insurance. My fax machine at work , for some reason, could not get through to the fax number they gave me. I had to go back to the Verizon store and had them fax it. A day later I call again to see if they got my fax. They did, but that was not what they needed. I was then told that I had to fax proof that I bought the phone. Well the rep should have been more clear as to "what" he needed proof of. I was told by the rep on day two that they already knew I had the insurance, they needed to know I bought the phone. Well why would I need your damn insurance if I had not bought a phone! So I start the process all over again. Again I cannot fax to Protect cell from my work fax, although it works fine to send faxes to anywhere else. I go back to the Verizon store and have to have them fax my proof of purchase. So on day three, I call again to speak with a rep. Of course they can't help me so I get transferred to the Corporate Office. Finally spoke with someone who did receive my fax and could get approval to send my replacement phone. I was told I would have my phone within 1-2 days. I gave my work address so that FedEx could deliver, as I was told I had to sign for it. I waited for two days and the phone never arrived. So I call again on a Friday to see what the problem was. Again I was routed through several people before getting to someone who could actually help. I was told all my paperwork was there and they didn't know why the phone was not sent yet. I was told by that lady my phone would be there the next day, which was a Saturday. So I gave her my home address, as that was where I would be. I stayed home all day waiting for FedEx. I should have known the lady didn't know what she was talking about. I live in WYOMING, nothing gets here in a day. Do you people own a MAP??? My mistake for believing her. The phone didn't arrive until either Monday or Tuesday of the next week. Of course I was back to work and not at home to sign for the package. I had to leave a note on my door for the Fed Ex person to either leave it at my house or deliver to my work place. Then when I get the phone on 1/12 or 1/13/15, is it the same phone I bought at the Verizon store? Oh no, it is not the same phone at all. So I take my replacement phone to the Verizon store to get it programmed. The lady at the Verizon store said it was a much older and cheaper model of phone that what I originally purchased. I went from a HTC Desire to a HTC DNA. She called Protectcell and was told that was what I got. I had to take it or leave it. When my two year contract with Verizon is up regarding THIS phone, I will cancel my Protectcell and never do business with you again. "
"Protectcell has an aggravating return process for phones with manufacturing defects.
When my Galaxy S4 screen digitizer failed during normal use, I called protectcell to request a replacement. The customer service rep politely informed me that I can either pay a refundable 300 dollars and have them ship a phone out asap; or, I could print out a label and send in my phone for an examination to determine that it was indeed a defect. I chose to FedEx my phone to them because the rep said it would only take a few days to get my new phone.
TWO WEEKS later I called to see what the hold up was, only to be told that they never received the phone! After telling the representative that I had a shipping reciept, she quickly back-peddled and said, "Oh, oops! It looks like we actually approved your phone for replacement weeks ago but never marked it as recieved!" Seriously? Apparently someone farther up the totem pole then rushed out the order, and I opened it only to find that they shipped me a phone in the wrong color with a broken screen!
I do not recommend Protectcell unless you have a spare cell phone to use when yours bites the dust. On the bright side, for lost or stolen phone replacement, Protectcell is decent and only charges 150 dollars to replace premium tier phones. So if you decide to use them, just hope that your phone is annihilated in a blaze of glory and does not leave you with a carcass from manufacturer defects. Otherwise, prepare to be without a phone for WEEKS!"
"Fast and easy service. Received my phone a few days after putting in the request for a replacement. I even asked for a different color phone then I originally had and got it! Thanks ProtectCELL!"
"Unsatisfied with buyback grace period. Protectcell gives a 30 day grace period after your contract ends, and mine was a little over. I called and spoke with a buyback representative, who was friendly but unable to help, and a corporate representative, who was both unfriendly and unhelpful. Bad customer service."
"Protectcell replaced my Samsung Galaxy s4 after I cracked the screen. I was unaware of a $150 processing fee, but I blame the store that sold me the insurance for not telling me this detail. I give Protectcell 5 stars for excellent and quick service. My replacement phone is in perfect condition! "
"Feel like I'm beating the same drum.
Called ProtectCell to request a replacement for the black, yes black, Samsung S4 I had dropped on the pavement. Seemed simple enough. Paid the $150 and two days later received the replacement FedEx. Hurray!
Opened the box to find a white, yes white, Samsung S4. Ooppsss, must be a mistake. Called customer service to be told, "sorry, we send you what we have in the warehouse." Seems like a good idea to buy insurance with your new phone, right? Really, I bought insurance for this?
I feel like I've been taken advantage of by another fly-by-night shyster. I'm confident somewhere in this insurance policy I purchased it gives them this right, but no doubt in the dark recesses of the policy in 4 font.
We all know this: read any contract before you sign it. They know: we rarely do.
Think you might find a black Samsung S4 in your warehouse?"
"Replacement phone came VERY fast and was ready to use when I took it out of the box. Everything was easy to do, no hassle. Same color phone came and everything I needed was on the box. "
"I, for one am very happy with how easy it was to put in my claim for a replacement. Although I didn't get the same type of phone back, because my model was no longer available, they sent me the upgrade and I couldn't be happier. Keep up the good work Protectcell, so glad you were able to help me! "
"I recently had to call in a claim on my smashed iPhone 5s. I didn't have any trouble like all of these other posts/reviews. The only issue I had was that there was no place to verify my shipping address when I filed my claim on the app. That caused a slight issue and delay in receiving my new device because it was sent to the wrong address, my previous address. When I saw that if was marked delivered, to my old town, I called up customer service immediately. They then overnighted me a new device to my current address and all is well in my life again. Thank you Protectcell for the prompt service."
"The service was very fast and easy however I am VERY dissapoitnted that I didn't receive the same color phone...I was never informed of this and it wasnt even mentioned to me that they can't guarantee the color of the phone when the customer service lady asked me what color my damaged phone was. I had a gold and white phone and was sent a black and grey. I called back opened a new claim in which the manager at the cooperate office assured me that the new claim went through and a new white and gold was being sent out...I never received the phone and called to find out none of that was true and I was stuck with the black and grey phone unless I wanted to send it back and be phoneless for up to 2 weeks. I owe a business and can't operate without a phone. I'm Very dissapoitnted about this...I thought insurance replaced your product not whatever is close to your product that they have instock. This would have been good to know because I would have waited the extra few days tell they got more white and gold phones in. "
"The service was easy and fast. I had my new phone in a day and I was back on with my life."
