"I purchased the Guitar Hero 5 drum and mike bundle on September 29th 2009 partially because of the promise I would get the Van Halen Guitar Hero version for free. I received the bundle but there were no details about the Van Halen version in the box. I thought they would let me know if I had to do something to get the free VH version, but since I heard nothing, I assumed they would just ship it. Since then I’ve read, from other sources, that there should have been a sticker on the box…there was not. The release date came around and still nothing. I contacted them on Dec 28th and customer service passed me off to the “Van Halen Promotion” group. After giving them the confirmation and billing info, this is the response I received:

Good Afternoon,
Thank you for your e-mail. We regret that we are not able to accommodate your request. In the interest of fairness to all of our valued customers, we must process all redemption in accordance with the terms of the offer.
As such, the confirmaton form and sales receipt had to be received and/or post marked by October 31st to be valid for redemption. As stated in the terms of the offer, we assume no responsibility for lost or misdirected mail.
We do hope you enjoy Guitar Hero 5 and the largest selection of music in the history of Guitar Hero as well as great new innovative features like jump in/jump out party play and any selection of instruments you choose.

I would agree with this if they had told (or sent) me the terms of the offer and/or the confirmation form. They did not. “Fairness to all of our valued customers” means to me that they should honor the agreement they sold me. I was a repeat customer but I will not purchase from them again as they do not deliver what they promise, they blame it on the customer, and obviously have no interest in making it right.
Also, upon further research, I see that Red Octane (AKA Guitar Hero Store) has an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau. So, I guess, shame on me for not checking them out ahead of time.

"I purchased guitar hero metallica with guitar and mic on the 28th of dec and everything arrived intact on 1/4/2010. The package really got here on the 30th of dec but with the holidays UPS delivered it a few days later. I would order from this company again."

Guitar Hero Store has 100% REDEEMED itself!!! I have talked to a wonderful customer service rep and awesome manager and they explained that they were virtually shut down after Christmas and that they had very limited customer support staff. They have been absolutely wonderful in resolving my issue. In the end they have demonstrated excellent customer service.
As many others have stated they have excellent prices and very fast shipping.

1/4/10 - I appreicate the response to this negative review, but the problem is that I have tried to contact your customer service number and e-mail with absolutely NO response. You have responded below with "please contact us and we will have someone follow up on this right away". Please advise how I can actually speak to a live person. I have spent many hours since last Monday, 12/28 through today, 1/4, holding on your phone line. I have also sent two e-mails practically begging for someone to call me. This is what happens: I select the option to talk to someone, the recorded message is ALWAYS the same, no matter what time of day, "Your call is important to us, we are currently experiencing high call volumes, etc." Then it reverts back to the main menu automatically. Please see my two e-mails and please have someone call me ASAP. Thank you.

I am extremely frustrated regarding the lack of customer service from Guitar Hero Store! I have tried calling many many times in the last four days without ever speaking to a person. It is just continous recordings and I am convinced that there is not a customer service department. This was a gift from Santa and my daugher is very upset. I also submitted an online request days ago with no response. I was looking forward to ordering many more items from here, but I will not without any customer service. I have NEVER written a negative review about any company in my entire life and am sorry to do so now.

"Great seller, fast shipper, almost completely flawless transaction. Only problem - When the package got to my home the box was ripped so badly that two of the three games in the box were falling out of the box. The only thing that stopped them from coming all the way out was the tape on the box. Not going to place blame, it could have happened in transit, thankfully I received everything I was supposed to."

"ordered item K0522 complete guitar hero world tour plus guitar hero 5, received part of shipment but stated everything shipped on shipping invoice, what a JOKE! guitar hero 5 came but no world tour complete set. box totally too small for rest of it. False advertising about not selling backordered items, don't advertise something to sell if you don't have it. Very dissatisfied with this place!!Very true about no one answering phone , put on speakerphone three times for 3 hours and no answer, bogus company trying to act like a big place but in reality a little place with big ideas and no help. don't buy from them if you really need the item the first time."

"I ordered a complete band set from this website. While I appreciate that the ordering was easy and shipping was prompt, our order was missing an important large item. I can't get through to customer service via the telephone number as it always claims they're receiving a high volume of calls. I first received a boiler plate email response that is more than likely an automatic reply provided by a computer. Since that time, less than 24 hours later, I've been contacted via email by a support person inquiring more specifically about my complaint. I'm hopeful that this will be resolved quickly and in full satisfaction of my initial order.
UPDATE 9/15/09 - I have been assured through an email that the missing item is being shipped and should arrive in 3-5 days. I am encouraged and even a little shocked that the problem was resolved so quickly. Now, I will just await the arrival of the shipment. Thank you Guitar Hero Store for such quick follow-up and action. I will post again upon arrival of the item.
UPDATE 9/18/09 - The missing item arrived as promised. Thank you, Guitar Hero Store, for following through and satisfactorly and promptly responding to my complaint.

"I LOVE purchasing Guitar Hero items through the Guitar Hero store (formerly Red Octane)! The one time that I did have an issue and received an incorrect item, the issue was resolved quickly and very satisfactorily. I almost always receive free shipping and the shipping is extremely FAST!
