"Yeeeeah. I ordered a PowerPAK based on a friend's purchase. Here is the outcome. I am out almost $200 (PowerPAK, 2GB CF Card, + Shipping)
Retrozone uses First Class Mail. When one hears "First Class" that sounds awesome. It's not. It's the worst possible shipping method on the planet. Your package has a great chance of being lost in the mail void, which happened to me. After several contacts back and forth between RetroZone and USPS. USPS says it's Retrozone's fault for shotty shipping label work. RetroZone blames USPS for manhandling the shipping label.
After one more email to Retrozone asking what to do about this situation, because they have a lot of my money, I was told this:
"I am very sorry but the shipping method that was selected on your order,
first class, does not have any type of insurance coverage. Unfortunately
the age of the shipment is well outside of a time frame where anything
could be done."
So there you go. Order at your own risk."
"Good communication on AIM. Quick shipping. Product works great!"
"Bought SNES PowerPak, works great! Shipped quickly, was sent by priority so it appeared in only a couple days. Will be getting more games from there soon"
"I have purchased pretty much every NES game this guy has ever put out and have not once EVER had a single problem with him. Orders have always been shipped very quickly and I've never had any issues with any of them.
The one time I did get a game that wasn't working I shipped it back to him (he reimbursed me for shipping) and replaced the game immediately with no questions asked and no hassle at all."
"I have made several purchases from RetroZone, and I couldn't be more pleased. One game I purchased had some problems in my NES (which happens with these items), contacted the site through the channels mentioned on the site, and received a replacement very quickly. "
"Excellent site.. Received order confirmation email, then I received an email when my purchase had shipped.. Great site, would buy from again.. "
"Wow, looks like I got lucky. Ordered a USB to NES controller adapter, received it in about two weeks with no pressing problems.
You better believe that I will be using EXTREME caution if I purchase from them again, as my buddy Roth and his show NES Tips put in the good word about them, and if they start screwing people over, he'll get the word out on THAT, too.
Screwing customers over is unacceptable, even at those really freakin high prices and horrible shipping costs! They charged $6 shipping for a USB to NES controller port."
"Slow order fulfillment, no customer service, no return/exchange (so far) and very poor communication. If you can't live without one of the usb controller or powerpak products, let the buyer beware!"
"Pleased with purchase of NES controller. Shipped promptly."
"stay away from this merchant. he is lazy, irresponsible, and incompetent. if he sends you a nonworking controller, he will not take responsibility for it."
"I purchased two Coleco to USB chips and one worked for three days, I've emailed them on three seperate occasions in a two week period trying to get an RMA or anything as to replace it and get no reponse.
The Chip does what is advertised but very poorly, most button register as other due to the unique makeup of coleco controllers.
I would avoid this seller until he get's his act together, this is no way to run a business. I am the customer, he got the money and I'm stuck without a second working unit.
"
"Cool products, but unfortunately, customer service is horrid/non-existent. It took them nearly 1-month to reply to my e-mail and ship my item. Horrible."
