Horrible Buyer Protection

"Reverb's policies don't stand up for the buyer when it really counts. I purchased an item, it was accepted, gave the credit card, the money changed hands fine, and the seller told me that it'd be shipping out shortly. The seller then reneged, and refunded me all in one swoop. I complained to Reverb, but there was no recourse, as the seller had already refunded me. Why Reverb allows a seller to do this (renege on agreement) is beyond me. The seller probably made a side deal and got more money. Another kicker is that I'm not allowed to leave a review for the seller (Bob's Gear Outlet in NH), on the Reverb site, as it was never shipped. I gave 2 stars, because I have bought one guitar on this site, and it went smoothly"

LACK OF SELLERS RIGHTS!!

"REVERB PURCHASING REVIEW:
Bought cymbals with a 30 day refund - to try out these cymbals - requested a refund - seller refused & reverb backing them: this is what the Seller wrote (that I of course, sent to My credit card as a dispute); & to reverb. Gave 1 rep a '1' rating & not sure about the other. Had the audacity & insult to offer $25, then $50 as compensation; this is what the Seller emailed me ( have it in writing:
Situation:
Placed an Order on July 14, 2021 for’ cymbals’ from a: (Name (leaving out while in dispute) Gear Depot);

Requested a refund in 30 days of purchase (NY state has a law, can return anything in 30 days);
Contacted Reverb – Darius(of reverb) August 5th: gave him a ‘1’ rating for deflecting issue:

(have all the below in writing)
Seller says: ‘Definitely wasn’t on my page or listing’ ; yet I have his Order on My email (re above name & address);
Then; says ‘I’m not debating it was my sale:
(tries to recant the truth)
Then says, “I’m taking this to reverb customer service if you don’t stop your threats:
(I’m requesting a refund)
Then; sale was made in PA thru reverb – I do not make enough on these sales
Really – this is business
Lastly – Seller – ‘don’t return the cymbals; You will not be refunded

This is why I warn Purchases - they have 'NO Rights' & be careful purchasing from Reverb.

"yeah - they broke some promises on sales, prices, services, etc.... but honestly, I expected it.
They still do a half-decent job of customer support, and are a lot easier to work with than ebay. Still like them

"Had issues with a seller. When I eventually entered a review, reverb wouldn't allow a two star or three star review. It stated I should resolve my issues with the seller before giving negative feedback. Issue was already resolved. Basically they are filtering out negative reviews so you don't get an honest review of the sellers your are doing business with. "

Awful company, awful customer service...awful everything!

"Sold an expensive guitar. Buyer paid promptly, guitar posted next day and Reverb refuse to pay the money to me claiming they need id. They have my id, they have all my details but use any excuse to hold on to my money. Don't ever buy or sell through this company as their customer service is dreadful, they really don't give a fig. "

Excellent Buyer Protection

"I recently purchased a near new, expensive Yamaha guitar on the Reverb website. The seller was a music store and pawn shop in Gander, Newfoundland, Canada. The guitar was listed as mint condition and looked good in the photos. When it arrived, it had several cracks in the bridge. There were no signs of shipping damage to the shipping box or the hard case. The seller refused to allow a return and did not offer any compensation. Reverb then stepped in and quickly paid for a new bridge.
They are an excellent website to deal with and I recommend them highly.

Terrible practices

"Don’t buy through Reverb. Save your money!
Worst experience purchasing on the internet I’ve ever had. Zero Star review! I purchased a guitar for my son’s birthday. Reverb would not let the seller send me my purchase for the price that I’d already paid and insisted the seller increase the cost by $300. This lifted the guitar out of my price range so the sale was cancelled. When the money I paid for the guitar was refunded by Reverb it returned to me over $100 less than I paid! They refuse to return to me the full amount of money I’ve paid. I reached out to their customer service team to resolve the issue but it remains unresolved. Now they refuse to reply to my communications - I have reached out to them about this issue two more times and have heard nothing back! Very very bad business to deal with. Do not buy using this platform.

Reverb.com **** a ****!!!!!!

"I have been with Reverb since it’s infancy. However now they have lost their damn minds!!
It’s now cheaper to sell music gear on EBay than reverb.
Sold a vintage amp for 1328.00 and ended up with 1,100 after their ripoff processing fees, selling fees, AND including the shipping amount under the total to be FEE’D to death!!!
F**K Reverb.com!! These cons have lost my business for good!!!!

Never received purchased item out $$$

"Ordered a used electronic drum hi-hat. I should've known to buy, price was too good to be true. I received tracking number which showed item was delivered, but I never got it. Contacted Reverb who in turn told me to contact buyer. Buyer had a "oh well" attitude and said nothing he can do, and check USPS. Post office was useless. I felt like I was robbed. I stay away from Reverb. Used it once and that's the last time I'll ever use them. "

REVERB has been sold, and now, the Customer Service is useless

"August 2019, Reverb was sold to Etsy, for an approximate $275 Million - according to Wikipedia.

I wouldn't have an opinion about that, except the Customer Service has become hopeless.

I have used Reverb to buy & sell for years. Everything has been predictable, easy and solid. Just recently, I sold a piece of gear on Reverb, and found out they'd be holding my money, until the item arrived (in another country no less) at the purchaser's address. Supposedly, this is because of the NEW rules and policies, as Reverb will no longer deposit funds into your PayPal account - they deposit them to your bank account. Presumably, this is part of the changes that have transpired since the sale of the company.
This holdback of funds, only happens to your First Sale, under the new Reverb Payment system.
• First of all - frustrating that you have to ship your item, and pay for shipping 'Out of your own pocket', instead of getting at least that money refunded.
It was frustrating enough that they deducted taxes, plus their commission fee.....
• They've also raised their fees from 3.5% to 5%
• But now, I have waited ONE MONTH, and the funds are still not in my account.
I have had repeated emails from 'Sandra'/Customer Service, yet she has NOT been able to find and resolve the problem. I keep getting emails suggesting that I had to "Select a Pay Out Balance" or "Request a Bank Transfer"..........I try this, then send Sandra the Screen Grab, indicating that I have Zero Balance, that is already HAS been paid out.

I don't know what to do. The item arrived and the purchaser was thrilled. He paid instantly, yet 30 days later, I have not seen one dollar.

• Furthermore, I can't get anyone on the phone or Live Chat. I can only send an email. A few weeks ago, I COULD do a 'Live Chat', although when I asked to speak to a Supervisor, he brushed me off, without answering my questions, and ended the Chat.

I'm sad to see this once great buying/selling resource go so badly wrong.

.....and as of this writing (March 20201) I'm still out hundreds of dollars.....

Beware!

"Avoid it! I have sent back a not as described guitar what is already for sale again. I have sent several photos (with serial number) to the customer service asked to delete the listing but nothing happened. Somebody will buy again this expensive instrument from an dishonest seller and it seems they are supporting that. Shame..."

Fees are not transparent

"They claim to only charge five percent but on my one item that I sold they charged nearly sixteen percent. A total of $205 on a $1299 sale and had I known that to be the case I would have just sold locally. Between their fees and shipping it cost me 320 dollars to sell an 1100 dollar item."

They will not help if you have an issue

"Reverb is the absolute worst when it comes to service as a seller unless you buy the expensive insurance from them they won't help with shipping issues. What they don't tell you is UPS considers them the shipper and wont return your merchandise or work with you as a seller if there is a shipping issue. I lost $1000 bucks this way and they told me to bad so sad and would not intervene."

BUYERS BEWARE / NO PROTECTION FROM SUPPORT / RIP-OFF

"Where sites like eBay often differs sometimes too much to the buyer Reverb doesn't respect buyers at all! I've bought and sold on Reverb and the rarer occasions there was an issue sellers took care of the matter. Recently however, I had a seller not cooperate When I explained an amplifier I purchased had an issue. When I exhausted the road with the seller I escalated to Reverb support. They were throwing the burden of proof upon me asking I video the intermittent issue the amplifier was doing. How am I supposed to prove an intermittent issue with an amplifier being disabled and not technically evolved enough to video? I don't own that kind of equipment, I'm older and disabled.

I certainly didn't purchase this amplifier so I could turn around and have to repack it and send it back. This isn't a high volume seller by any means I have more feedback than they do. He must be related to somebody at Chicago Music Exchange/Reverb or something. This is why Reverb divorced itself from buyers using PayPal because you have that road to go and they've taken that away from buyers. I ignore that and use it for most purchases but happened to choose Affirm so I could spread out the payments on this purchase. Apparently I will have to go to Better Business Bureau and beyond since there's no support in the support department at Reverb. With Guitar Center filing Chapter 11 you would think Reverb/Chicago Music Exchange would be more buyer friendly.
