"I ordered a 46" LCD Television from an online retailer. The television was shipped from Harrisburg PA to Kansas City KS via Roadway. I was unfamiliar with Roadway, having only used UPS, USPS, and Fedex previously. Here is how I rate Roadway:

Pricing: --> The online retailer has some kind of bulk shipping arrangement with Roadway so pricing on an individual level is impossible to judge. (The online retailer strapped the television upright, in its original packaging, to a skid. The approximate dimensions of the package and skid together were (WxHxD) 36"x40"x51". The approximate weight of the package and skid together was 116 lbs. The online retailer paid $110 for shipping.)

Tracking: 100% --> Their website is well designed and responsive; Finding tracking information is simple and straightforward. (-0%)

Speed: 100% --> Roadway picked up the item on Tuesday, April 3, 2007. The projected delivery date was Monday, April 9, 2007. They actually delivered the item on Friday, April 6, 2007, one business day ahead of schedule. (-0%) (Note that I was aware that delivery would be early; See "Communication" below.)

Handling: 100% --> The package was in excellent condition with no dents, cuts, or scuffs, other than the small pressure marks on the top where the strapping had held the package to the skid. (-0%) The delivery man, Paul, was friendly, polite, considerate, and handled the package with care, bringing it into the room where I wanted the television set up. (-0%) He helped me open the package and inspect the television prior to having me sign the paperwork. (-0%) The television itself was in perfect condition. (-0%)

Communication: 100% --> I called Roadway, as requested on my tracking page, to schedule an ACTUAL delivery date/time and spoke almost immediately with a real person (I'm sorry but I don't remember her name) who arranged the ACTUAL delivery date/time. She was polite, articulate, had no accent, and was easy to understand. (-0%)

Advice when shipping via Roadway: Keep an eye on your tracking information. For residential deliveries, Roadway requires that (1) the recipient call them ahead of the PROJECTED delivery date/time to schedule an ACTUAL delivery date/time and (2) the recipient be present for the ACTUAL delivery.
