"Robinson's Antiques has been my worst purchasing experience EVER!! I ordered and paid for a hardware item (20s-40s-H-38, ORDER NUMBER 13942) in their catalogue on APRIL 15, 2021 and have not received it yet, 10 months later!. I have tried calling and their phone is either busy or nobody answers. I have sent several e mails and have gotten an automatic reply every time, no matter what I write as "subject". I think they are simply dishonest or run a terrible business."
"Buyer beware.
Before I ordered from Robinson's, I sent an email asking a few basic question -- including, "do you have the item pictured." After 2 days, I got an email stating that they did. In spite of my apprehension over the dodgy looking website and the fact that their physical location on google maps is an abandoned, residential duplex, I felt somewhat reassured and placed the order. I wish I had not.
Robinson's Antiques takes its "no returns" policy very seriously. So seriously that if they ship the wrong item, you are stuck with it. I ordered a cast iron register and received a cast iron register; however, not the one I ordered. I sent them 2 polite emails -- neither was returned. A few days after the last email, I called -- no answer.
This is taken from their website, "Once an antique piece has been bought, it is non-returnable, non-refundable, and all sales are final. This is a standard policy with antique items, and there are no exceptions." You can go ahead and add to that, "We reserve the right to peremptory substitutions."
If they have some piece of rare hardware you have been looking for and really want to give them a shot... ask them to send you a photo of the actual item they will be shipping. Also, make sure you use a credit card with good buyers' insurance program if you make the purchase.
