"Overall purchase of the furniture from the Rooms and Things was a good experience. The furniture was reasonably priced. I researched the items I bought on other websites and I found the prices reasonable. While I don't agree with the Shipping methods/prices the furniture prices makes up for it. Now on to the shipping. Rooms and things were very accomodating. My husband had to go outta town suddenly (he is military) and they did not ship the items from the warehouse until he returned. However, here is where the nightmare begins. The first time the freight company attempted to deliver they did not call to give a two hour window after stressing that they would and after telling my husband that they deliver late in my area. My husband assumed he could go to work and leave when they called. So when no called had been made by late afternoon we called to check the status and were told delivery had already been attempted. So we rescheduled. Second delivery day no call nor delivery and my husband stayed home all day. When we called again that afternoon we were told our shipment was lost and it could take up to 10 days for us to receive it. Again no call. This was a Friday. So I had to be mad all weekend. On Monday I was told that it was not lost but misplaced and we can reschedule delivery. I stated I did not want to reschedule until shipment was found since my husband was not able to take another day off work ( I am presently overseas). I was told to call back in the afternoon for status. So after calling rooms and things who were very nice and helpful (they immediately contacted the freight company) my husband received a call from rooms and things saying that they were told by freight company we had delivery scheduled for the next day. Talk about imcompetence! So long story short...Called Tuesday for status after getting the run around on Monday and was told that delivery was going to be at 11 a.m. It was 10 a.m. Again no two hr window call. Luckily my husband was able to go home; however he did have to cancel an appt. Rooms and Things would be awesome if they had an adequate shipping company. I still have more furniture to buy for my house. Unfortunately, it will not be with them because of the shipping fiasco. If you are willing to stay home all day from 9-6 waiting then this is for you. But my bad experience was one to many. Good Luck!"

"I could not be more pleased. I was nervous about ordering something online from a store I did not know, but took a chance because the price was 30% less than a local store for the same items. The communications were great from day one and I received my office furniture in less than 2 weeks. Everything was packed perfectly without damage. The shipper rolled the pallet into my garage where he waited while I inspected everything. I will definitely tell my friends about Rooms and Things and will not hesitate to order from them again."

"We ordered two sleep chairs from Rooms & Things to accommodate visitors arriving in June. We received our receipt and updates on our order status. A date was set for delivery and we were happy with the way things had gone with this transaction. Then the delivery arrived. Only one chair was delivered. It came on a pallet wrapped and banded in cardboard and shrinkwrap. The wrapping was undisturbed in any way. When we unwrapped it there was only one chair. We contacted them by email immediately. When we had not heard back the next day I called. They say they shipped two chairs on one pallet. I spoke to the shipper who says they picked up one pallet. We received one pallet.

It seems clear to us that they only shipped one chair, a simple mistake that can be rectified but we expected some accommodation given our circumstances. Customer service has been very short with me and unwilling to do anything out of the ordinary to help. They blame the shipper for losing the chair but it doesn't fit with everything we have learned. They say they will ship another chair in a week or so. That doesn't help us. I asked if they could ship it today or expedite the shipping and they said that would be "impossible." They are willing to cancel the second chair and refund half my money but what use is that.

Many people have had good results with this company and I am sure that is the rule, but if something goes wrong do not expect them to be helpful or to take responsibility."

"Excellent overall experience with Rooms and Things. The communication was good and each time I called to check on the order status I always got the information I was looking for at the time.

I was very impressed with the quality of care the shipping included. I was worried about leather couches being shipped on a freight truck, but everything arrived in perfect condition. However, the delivery required me to assist the truck driver at my home. I had to physically help with lifting the couches off the truck.

The order arrived 1 week later than originally quoted, but but I was made aware of that well in advance. Very satisfied with the quality of the product and the price was impossible to beat."

Well the only complaint I have is how long it took to actually get here...Shipping took about a week, but waiting for the Ashley Manufacturer took about 2 months. The furniture was delivered curbside, actually in front of our garage, so we could bring it in from there. It was nicely packaged in plastic wrap and cardboard and know wear from shipping. It does have a new fabric smell thats pretty potent when you first open it...its been a few days and the smell is less but still there. Some of the recliners are harder to shut than other recliners, but not enough that causes any kind of strains! "Do not order from this company. I placed an order on 1/07/2011 for a set of 2 Ashley Furniture Kendall bar stools and when I received my order there were no front legs for either chair. After speaking with customer service they told me I would have to wait over 2 months to receive the legs. I reluctantly waited and when I emailed them to see see where my parts were they informed me that it would take another month for the legs to arrive. I sent them 2 emails and a voice mail asking them for a refund because I simply cannot afford to wait any longer and have received no response. It's been 3 months since I placed my order and I still having nothing to sit on except my hands. There are numerous website retailers to choose from to accept this type of service.
