"Found this website in a video and computer magazine. Prices seemed unbeatable (about 1/3 less than the retail) so I proceeded to place my order on a Sony Camcorder (priced 749.00). Got the email to contact the company which I did. Could not get in contact with the ext 220 which they had instructed to contact so I called just customer service. Woman was very rude and upset that I didn't contact ext 220. She than connected me again with 220 but this time someone picked up. He immediately tried to sell me things I did not need such as a camera bag, extra lenses etc. and at prices that seemed really outrageous. I explained I just wanted the camera. He than told me I needed to buy the extra lenses because without it the video quality won't be good. I've owned a few video cameras and I never had to buy extra lenses. I again said I would just like the Camera. So he asked me if I wanted the Taiwanese version or the American version. Well of course I wanted the american version. The price then went from 749.00 to 1499.00. He said the camera advertised at 749.00 is the taiwanese version and all instructions and display is in taiwanese. Really shady advertisement. I immidiately canceled. Not long after I found this website which gave good reviews on companys and I found that 12 of the 15 other advertisments in that magazines I had were also scams like this one. I found a reputable site and ordered my camera. I guess the saying "If its too good to be true..." is right on the money."
"no email confermation.
phone confirmation was difficult. the saleman was very rude. trying to get me to buy stuff that i didnt want.
in the end sent me what i didnt want and charged me for it."
"I just got off the phone with them. In a very polite, professional manner I asked if the Canon 20D they are selling was a US or Japanese make. The salesperson immediately attacked me with a barrage of questions, and accused me of shopping around too much!!! WOW! He then shot out item after item of things that I should get like lenses and memory cards. When I told him I don't need them, he abruptly told me the camera body was a Japanese model and quickly hung up. DANGER DANGER. Bad vibes from these guys. Shop somewhere else. "
"Yesterday I purchased a Canon EOS D20 (body only) on theirwebsite. The website allowed me to order the camera COD with next day delivery. As the website order instructed I went and got a Cashiers Check for 889.99, (the amount stated my online order confirmation.) I was having it shipped to my work address, so I called them today, because I wanted to confirm a delivery date. After be passed through 4 people, the rep I ended up with said the order would not be shipped unless I paid 10% on a credit card. I tried to explain, I already got the Cashiers Check for the full amount. The Rep became very rude, and said "too bad". At that point I told him to cancel the order. "Done," he replied and hung up. An hour later after I calmed down, I called back, because I wanted to make a complaint. Right off the bat, i spoke to someone who said he was a manager in the department, and he could help me. He said the person I spoke to earlier was wrong, I would not need the 10% on a credit card, but unfortunately the item I wanted was back ordered. I hung up the phone feeling much better, but disappointed I wasn't getting the camera. After getting home this evening, I called back, because the price they were offering was so good, I wondered if they had the 20D in the kit with the lens. The rep's treatment of me was vile (for lack of a better word). He was rude, he was mean. He never left me finish a sentence, would not take a second to answer my questions. I tried to explain the situation to him, and tell him what the previous person I spoke to said. He could not care less. When I said to him, "here is the situation," to try an explain what happened earlier, he said, "I don't want to hear about your situation." This rep said I had to pay the full amount on credit card or send in the check before hand. He said there was no way they would send that camera on a COD. I asked to speak to a his supervisor, and he said he was the supervisor. I said I can't believe how he was talking to someone wanting to make a purchase. His exact words to me at this point was "Get off your high horse, we have people lined up to make purchases." Then he followed that with "Do you want to order the camera or what?"
Just as a side note, he did say they had the camera in stock. Who knows what to believe? I'll shop elsewhere."
"I bought my Canon camera from this company and was extremely pleased. They were not the least expensive listing, but the stores who listed lower prices either didn't have it in stock or said they only had it in stock in a package which was much more expensive. They immediately took no for an answer when they asked me if I needed any accessories. I was able to track my delivery, and the camera arrived a day before schedule. I would definitely buy from them again."
"They send me different things than what I ordered with a different price (higher) and doesnt put the price for each specific item that I buy on the invoice."
"This company is the worst. My sweet husband unsuspectingly bought a Nikon D70 body from them to give me for Chirstmas. When I opened it, I noticed that it was a gray-market camera. I thought this is what he may have ordered, so I said nothing. I was really excited to have the camera. When I tried to use it, the camera didn't work. After discussing the purchase with my husband, I learned that he paid for a US camera and a US warranty. Eventually, Royal sent me another camera, this one working and made for the US market (I called Nikon to verify). The package price my husband paid was higher than what he could have bought it for locally. Like other buyers, my husband was attracted by the low body price and did not realize that Royal was scamming him on the battery and the price of the flash card. It was an incredible hassle to return the non-working gray market camera and get a working US camera. Ronny and his employees were very rude to me. The funny thing is, they would have succeeded at their scam if they had been polite. It was only when they were rude that I started to question my husband about what he bought and how much he paid."
"For me it was a "bait and switch" operation.
I ordered a Nikon D70 w/ nikkor 18-70 lens. The total using Yahoo wallet was $748.99. No email comformation so I called and talked to a guy who told me that that was a "overseas" model not recomended. I stuck to "my guns" and insisted on the origional deal. The tone became rude and said it would take 4-6 weeks for delivery even though I paid $69.99 for 2 day delivery. He said that I will be charged $49 and will get it in 4-6 weeks.
I thought it was a bluff so I said OK. "realy" he said. "enjoy your camera". I called their shipping dept the next day to inquire about delivery conformation. Had to talk to a supervisor. Rony told me that "overseas modle was BO but for $899 he would send me the domestic model in two days.
Going against my instincts I agreed $899 is more than a fair price for that combination. The camera arived as promised but with a Sigma 18-50 instead of the Nikkor 18-70. ( a $200 diffrence) also the "free shipping" was $69. When I called to complain Rony offered me some excessories and an article about why the Signa lens is better than the Nikkor. he also claimed after I kept insisting on what I ordered that I was told about the sigma lens when I ordered. I did get a RMA # from him. He said loudly 3 times that I must return the INTIRE ORDER. Now I am affraid to return the camera not knowing what other charges I might incur (re-stocking fee?) We shall see. I may need to talk to my credit card company in the end.
Update..Called Nikon support and was told " All of our products sold by Royal Camera are grey market". They seemed very familiar with Royal Camera. I sent everything back and I am now in the process of getting the shipping costs ($69) back by dealing with my credit card company. I feel that since they never sent ANYTHING that I ordered that I am within my rights. The FedEx charge on the return I will mark down as a learning expense."
"My comments recorded a few days ago about the poor service for this store were misdirected. The store with which I had problems was INOAX. See my comments about that store. I have never done business with Royal. Sorry for the confusion.

"Ordered a Digital Camera, was shipped a grey market european camera without US warranty. Ordered and paid for a specific 2GB flash card, was shipped 1GB off-brand card. Was charged nearly $250 for a "battery" that never shipped because the battery did not exist. They refused to make the order correct as ordered. Returned everything. Will never do business with them again."
"Beware of this store. Do not buy from them! I was over charged for my items and shipping after I was quoted the final price. They would not return my money and would only give me more product that I did not need. I never received the products I ordered and never received a warrenty card for the camera I purchaced. BEWARE! "
"Professional photographer:
I received the order with 2 items backordered not in stock as stated in the phone conversation.
Shipping costs was $500.00 more than quoted. They did not say shipping is 8% of the total cost.
The extended warrantee was not as promoted and the memory chip was not as represented and the completive price on the memory was $400 less than their cost.
Very shifty dealing with them they do not show break down of costs on invoice.
Be ware of this store.

"I give Royal Camera an overall rating of EXCELLENT. This is due to several aspects of my order placing experience. First, the site was extremely user friendly with simple steps and clear instructions. Next, was the email feedback. I was informed when they received my order, when the order was verified and when the order was shipped (which by the way was the same day it was ordered). Then to my surprise, I received the merchandise two days after shipment and this is with ground shipment from New York to South Dekota. Nice Job. I will be back."
"I was going to order a nikon coolpix 8700 from royal camera, $319 at the time, i figured you cant beat it but i knew there was a catch...well i ordered and got a email from royal camera's at aol.com...informing me to call and conform.
after getting hung up on and very rude service i finally got someone that told me the camera does not come with anything he was forcing me to pay an extra 300 just for the battery and "rapid" charger. After telling him NO several times, he then tells me it will take 4-5 weeks to get the camera, and if i wanted a u.s. model it would be an extra 200 dollars. so thats the catch, grey market products with no warrenty's or anything.
I would advise staying away from this company, it was one of the worst experiences i've ever had, the price is temping but it just might not be what you were hoping for.
needless to say i decided to order from beachcameras instead, even though they're a lil more, you at least get the the "real thing" will all the accessories it SHOULD come with.

"Where to begin....I ordered a Nikon D70 online from Royal Camera. They soon called me and asked if I wanted the battery and software. I told them it should be in the box and they told me it wasn't. I finally said ok. I also asked for three day shipping which was an outrageous price! They called me back the next day saying my charge card would not take to full amount. So they tried 7 times, according to the credit card company, to find an amount that would go on the card...not something a reputable company would do. They were trying to put over $1500 on the card instead of the advertised $909. When they called I told them to cancel my order..at this point I was talking to a manager who said they COULD not cancel it and was VERY rude. I told him I needed sometime to think about my order and I would call him back. He said I HAD to decide right there and that I would not find a better price anywhere (which I have!) He would not even give me his name. Anyway I hung up with him and called back and spoke to a women that said she would cancel my order. Then a few hours later a man called from Royal camera wanting to verify my address. When I told him I canceled my order he said that the shipment had already gone out! Why was he calling to verify my address then??? It arrived at my house two days later. I am sending the order back unopened and I really hope they refund my money! What a scam!!!!...Update:
They refunded all but the shipping fee of $62. I canceled my order before they even shipped it...so I think I should get that back as well! Oh well...lesson learned: Never deal with Royal Camera and always check up on the company BEFORE you order!"
