"Well, it pains me to write this review...I ordered an Asus W2V notebook assembled for over $2700, so it's not a cheapie.
Have had problems with the DVD drive (Matshita UJ-845S). First, a DVD got stuck in it...would not eject. I emailed tech support, then phone. Not much help...said they would have to contact Asus and will call me back. A couple days pass...no word. So with that I have to take things into my own hands....and gently get the DVD out of the drive using hands and a small screwdriver (the Asus does not have a logical, easy-to-see/figure out panel for its DVD mounting and the manual has no schematic.
Next, problem with the drive is that it cannot read data DVDs. Movies are OK, but no data DVD read (.doc and .pdf files, .tif and .jpg file).
Contacted StarPC again...this time after a couple days I get an email to contact Asus.
So much for customer support and service.
Pretty dismissive...especially since it may be something that the reseller did in configuring."
