First time buyer

"My wife has been doing Art Quilts for over six years and during that time I have heard her talk about long-arm machines. I decided to semi-surprise her with a new long-arm (semi because without her input I would have purchased the wrong machine). I found Sewing Machines Plus while searching the WEB. Once the decision was made about which machine to order, I still had a few questions about accessories. That's when Pam came to the rescue, she was well informed and very helpful. Payment was simple, shipping was prompt and the machine was as described. I will use your company in the future and highly recommend you to anyone looking for quality produces and service."

"The purchasing process was very easy and no stress at all with applying for financing during the purchase process. It was easy and convenient to do all online. The problem I did have however, was the shipping and customer service I received when inquiring about the shipping. When a representative called me to confirm my order I was given a certain date it would ship by and receive a shipping confirmation/tracking email. When that date passed and I didn't receive the tracking I called and this is where I started to get frustrated because I was getting a run-around with SMP and the manufacturer and neither of them could give me an answer and kept referring me to the other. I almost cancelled my order, if they had such a hard time answering and finding my order I didn't want to have the same kind of service later on when I needed help with my machine especially with a large purchase such as mine being over $3,000. Granted, my shipping was free but it is not hard to tell a customer when something would ship and that doesn't mean that service should be cheap. I guess it's easier to just pass it off to someone else and leave the customer in the dark. By my 3rd phone call to sewing machine plus I was told they would email me by the end of the day which never happened. The next day I received a shipping tracking with an estimated delivery date 3 days later. Nothing ever updated on the shipping tracking site (as in the package was travelling) and out of the blue on the third day the package arrived at my door. The tracking site still only showed the label created and not beginning it's route. Luckily I was home when it was dropped off, we have had a couple thieves following the delivery trucks in our neighborhood and stealing delivered items, hence the reason it would have been beneficial to use the shipping tracking. And I also might add that there was no shipping insurance on the package, for such a large purchase one would think this would be an option especially in my situation, however shipping was free so I guess that was a risk passed on to me. Luckily the initial purchasing and financing process was so easy and the machine showed up not long after expected in good shape so I can't be too disappointed. A couple of sewing groups that I belong to had very nice things to say with their experiences with SMP so I decided to let the shipping issue slide. I have a very high standard when it comes to customer service as that is what we practice with the highest integrity where I work, so it is very hard to be on the negative end of that standard when it comes to communication. "

Supposedly new machine with 8 year old parts

"I ordered a king quilter in June/July 2016, began using it in January 2017, and after less than 40 hours of use the machine died. When I purchased it, the warranty was for 5 years, but now they are saying the warranty expired after a year. They wanted me to ship the item to them to check what was wrong with it, at my expense ($750 just for shipping it), so I took it to a local repair shop instead. The head of the machine is a 2016 as it was supposed to be, but all the internal components that Sewing Machines Plus installed are from 2009. I called customer service to complain about this and was told it was impossible and that I would have to deal with the service department (who've I've been dealing with for almost 2 months already trying to get this fixed), and the service technician admitted that they do use old parts "they're new, but they are older - we use all different ages of parts, but I mean they're still new, so it should be fine". So they're selling new machines with old, crap, parts. At the least this is unethical, and at its worst, its fraud. They changed the warranty without notification, altered the warranty without notification, sold a new machine with old parts, and refuse to handle this in a customer service manner where it can be resolved, instead forcing me to keep calling the service tech (who you can't actually call, you can only leave your name and number and wait for the return call - there is NO phone line into the service dept, they can only call out). "

Advertising as new, selling used merchandise

"I ordered a new foot pedal for my Bernina Sewing machine. When it arrived it showed marks of definitely having been used, rather than new. When I contacted them to return the item, even though they advertised free shipping, since I was returning it, they charged me for the original cost of shipping the item to me, plus the cost of my shipping the item back to them. This is grossly unfair since they are trying to sell used items as though they were new."

"The sewing machine is a replacement for my old one, that broke and could not be fixed, it was 20+ years old. Bought this one because I like to quilt and thought it would be great for that. I have used it for simple project and it worked great."
