"Not sure why others have seemed to have such a hard time with ShipSound, that certainly was not my experience. I am also sure that there are two sides to each story and that some of these people are probably just idiots and have embelished the facts, I have seen that also.

My short story: I ordered an NEW HK AVR-354 HT receiver for a very good price from them, when it arrived it was both damaged (something heavy dropped on it denting the top case badly) and also looked to be a return or demo because of wear marks and scratches around the volume knob and beat up box. I emailed them and complained and they emailed me back the next day apologizing and offered a full refund including shipping. I told them that I really wanted this receiver and if possible could send a replacement to which they said yes as soon as they could get another from HK. They sent UPS back to me to pick up the old receiver and in about a week they send a BRAND NEW un-opened receiver.
All the while they answered each of my emails politely and withen 24 hrs. each time and kept me informed the whole time.

Can't ask for too much more then that. Their customer service was perfect and they delivered 100% on their committment.NDR

"I ATTEMPTED to order an electronic item from this merchant through Amazon.com- upon adding the item to the shopping cart, a message popped up stating the merchant does not deliver to this state. Contacted Amazon, they couldn't resolve the issue, suggested contacting this merchant directly. Sent an email, it is now three days later and have received no response. Their website claims to make deliveries to all 50 states. After reading the other reviews, I should consider myself lucky for not being able to complete my order.
UPDATE: it is now 1/229/09- STILL no response from ShipSound.

"I bought from them because they had the best price while still having a 30-day full refund return policy. I received prompt and friendly email responses. "HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I have tried to return an item within their 30 day period and have sent 6 e-mails. They say they will send me the RA number and never do. There is no phone number to call. What good is a 30 day return policy if they wont send you the information to send in the return iwthin 30 days. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER."

"I ordered a Nissan iPod interface for my Maxima because they had one of the best prices online for it at the time. Thinking it would be brand new, it led to my disappointment that when I received the item, it was an opened item with it's packaging showing the scissor slits on it. Not wanting to spend all that money on an install at a stereoshop only to find out that it might not work since it was used, I wanted to return it. I requested an RMA and I got a reply saying "Despite packaging condition, the actual product you received was shipped to you in new/unused condition." plus I'd have to pay a 15% restocking fee. On an opened item !! That's nuts. That means they are making money on this item at least more than once without even actually selling it. I took my chances and had it installed instead of losing 15% of my money. Let's say I was lucky and it worked. Bottom line, their products are not always new and customer service is below average at best. Once again, you get what you pay for."

"I ordered a Sirius Stiletto 100 for my girlfriend for Christmas on 11/6/2006. Knowing it was a popular item, I decided to try to get one sooner rather than later. I bought it from ShipSound because it was a few bucks cheaper and it seemed like the product was in stock. After waiting five weeks, I finally got the unit on 12/13/2006. That's right - five weeks.

I gave the gift to her on Christmas, thinking that she would be able to listen to Sirius on her above-ground train ride to and from work, but alas, the Stiletto still needs line-of-sight to the satellites. No reception whatsoever.

Since it didn't work for our intended purpose, we decided to return it. I sent an email on 1/1/2007 asking for an RMA number. I received a reply on 1/4/2007 (after sending a second email that day) stating that it's too late to return it. This is 6 days after Christmas. What kind of retailer doesn't make exceptions for Christmas gifts? (The bad kind.)

They also said that since it was opened they wouldn't accept it anyway. No restocking fee option... simply no returns. How is it possible to evaluate a product if you can't open the packaging? This is a huge flaw of Internet shopping.

After several attempts to convince them that I should be given an extension because I had to wait 5 weeks for delivery, they wouldn't budge and now I'm stuck with a $350 hunk of plastic. Do yourself a favor and go to a local retailer with a good return policy. It's much harder to argue a return via email than in person (where other customers can hear you if you need to take it up a notch). Sadly, I'd have to recommend someone like Microcenter or Amazon.com over this and most other small retailers. The customer service is just better.

My biggest mistake was picking the cheapest retailer. Remember, you ALWAYS get what you pay for.

"Overall, I was very happy with the price and prompt delivery. For a company with no reviews... I was a bit tenative. The pay by paypal was also a little disconcerting, but it allowed for one time, credit card use, and did not have to sign up or use an existing paypal account. The process was fairly straight forward. To date I'm exceptionally happy with the excellent price, prompt service, and reassuring notifications. The compay sent simple emails letting me know my order status as it went through processing, shipping, and out to UPS (along with the tracking number). I received the expected package on December 26th. Everything appears to be as advertised. I haven't had to use any returns, etc.... so no comments there, but in my experience, I had no issue getting the right produce, for a good price and in a timely fashion."
