"Purchased a few Solar Lights for Home
Simply put, Silicon Solar Sucks in a big way.
I ordered my lights going on 4 months ago and haven't received them. The company seems to be comprised of thieves, ignorants or theiving ignorants.
"Matt" who we know an love can't give a straight answer. You call for status, and they give you a machine to talk to. The customer support isn't there at all! They actually said my lights shipped on 2 separate occassions but I haven't seen them or received a UPS tracking number to confirm they did. I'm filing a small claims suit to get my $77.00+- back.
DO NOT DEAL WITH SILICON SOLAR AT ALL - BE WARNED"
"I placed an order with these guys on the web on sunday, April 6, 2003. After not having received back any email from them I called them up on Tuesday and the guy I spoke with (never gave a name) said that the shipment was going out that day. Now I forgot to order the motors I needed on my web order but I did send them an email on that sunday immediately afterwards notifying them of this. When I told the guy I spoke with on tuesday about this he commented on it as if it was the 1st time he heard about it (guess they all don't check emails and very low employee corespondance), and said he added the motors to the order.
Wed. I get my first real email reply, (content was also totally unrelated to the call I made, like they're all oblivious to eachother) from "Matt" saying:
I printed out a copy of your invoice yesterday and sent it down to be shipped out today for 2nd delivery. However for some reason I am unable to locate your invoice number or any reference of you in order to find tracking number. Embarrasingly enough could you send me your invoice number so I can get the tracking number for you, thank you and i apologize for the error on my part.
He refers to today as "tuesday" when he sent me the email on wed., adding to more confusion. I sent the invoice # and no reply to my email, send more throughout the week since I didn't receive a package nor a tracking # and Mon. the 15th, I finally get a reply to my email since I was finally really PO'd and "Matt" claimed he never got the invoice I resent. Finally I get the tracking # from them and it shows the package wasn't shipped until the previous friday! First off I was told it was tuesday, then Matt claims it was either tuesday or wed. (depending on what his "today" meant) and upgraded to 2-day shipping. Get the package today, a week later, and it was of course sent 3-day shipping, and they didn't even include those damn motors I had requested. I sent my final email to them about how disgusted I was with this whole situation and I at least was given a reply that the 2 motors were sent to me for free, and I was thanked for using up Matt's "time and patience". Some of the solar cells had chipped edges too, but they have an insane policy where you need to purchase EXTRA insurance (on top of what UPS already provides) to get anything replaced.
Oh it turns out that if you send an email to the "sales@" and "info@" siliconsolar.com email address you'll get it bumped back to you because their inbox quotas were already full. That sure tells you something. Adam Farrell is apparently the guy who took my call, lied to me, forgot to add my motors, and apparently is the "executive sales manager".
It wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't for the fact that I needed the parts by the weekend after I placed the order to assemble everything for our lab project in one of my senior college courses. If they shipped them when they said they would have I would have received them before the weekend. Now I have to rush, and I don't even get my motors for the hardware portion of lab checkoff, oh well, maybe I can show my Prof. to this site and he'll let us slide with just the solar cells.
If you're not worried about time, or receiving orders seperately after receiving one, you probably won't have a problem but you would never get this service from any top 50 or probably top 100 resellerratings.com resellers."
