"SkipShady.com is a Wholesale and Drop Ship Supplier of Gear for Musicians, or so they claim. They maintain a web presence that makes them appear as a large company. However, my poor experience with them revealed they are actually quite small and appear to work out of a home somewhere in Greenville, Wisconsin. The following is a chronologically dated account of my experience. Hopefully it will provide valuable insight for others when deciding if they should do business with Skip Shady. Personally I think their name says it all.

02/08/2013: I purchased a discounted Open-Box Sound Mixer and paid through PayPal.

02/11/2013: Three days from the purchase date, Skip Shady updated my account showing my payment as accepted and the order was being processed and should be shipping out within the next 2 business days. So this will make it 5 days to process a simple 1 item order.

02/13/2013: Five days from the purchase date, Skip Shady updated my account showing my order was shipping out and that I would have a tracking number within the next business day.

02/18/2013: Ten days from the purchase date, I had to send Skip Shady an email because they never sent a tracking number as promised, nor had the product arrived.

02/19/2013: Eleven days from the purchase date, Skip Shady replied with an email stating they would be shipping the item today and would provide a tracking number. Keep in mind; they had already updated my account back on 02/13/2013 showing that the package had already shipped. What is funny is they updated my account with a new entry showing it shipped a second time with a new date. Later that evening Skip Shady did send an email with a tracking number. However, a status check with UPS Tracking showed only that a label had been printed, but no actual package had been dropped off, nor was a pick-up requested from UPS. So basically Skip Shady printed a UPS label, which anyone can do, in order to temporarily pacify me. But still, no package had actually been shipped yet.

02/20/2013: Twelve days from the purchase date, another status check with UPS Tracking continued to show that the package had not been picked up or dropped off. By mid-day I emailed Skip Shady and informed them this was completely unacceptable and that I had waited long enough for a simple shipment from within the US. I pointed out their obvious deceit as established by their own entries in my account record. I then informed them that I had a pending transaction with another vendor that will ship the same mixer to me by tomorrow via next-day air for almost the same cost, and it's not even an Open-Box item. I closed by offering Skip Shady one last opportunity to match this same deal or cancel my transaction and refund my payment.

02/21/2013: Thirteen days from the purchase date, another status check with UPS Tracking continued to show that the package had not been picked up or dropped off. There was also no response by Skip Shady to my last email, so I purchased the mixer from another more reputable vendor who shipped it the same day via next-day air. I also filed a complaint against Skip Shady through PayPal requesting a full refund for the goods that were never delivered and forwarded the information to Skip Shady to ensure they knew to cancel the transaction and stop shipment in the event they might actually one day send me something.

02/22/2013: Fourteen days from the purchase date, my new mixer arrived, but not from Skip Shady, instead it was faithfully shipped as promised from the other reputable vendor. I am happy.

02/24/2013: Sixteen days from the purchase date, Skip Shady finally responded with an email informing me the item had finally been shipped and then told me to cancel my PayPal complaint against them. Their excuse for the delay in shipping was that bad weather prevented UPS from making package pick-ups in their area that week. However, a simple call to UPS revealed there were no such delays due to weather in that area. UPS also informed me that this package was never scheduled for pick-up and was instead dropped off at a retail location by the sender. UPS informed me the package is scheduled to arrive on 02/28/2013 which would make it 20 days since I originally purchased the item.

02/26/2013: I contacted PayPal to update my claim by informing them that Skip Shady completely disregarded my cancelation and decided to ship the item anyway and tried to compel me to cancel my complaint. I also sent Skip Shady a final email telling them that they need to recall the package because I had already warned them I would no longer accept anything from them. I further told them that they brought this upon themselves when they disregarded multiple emails from me and PayPal warning them to cancel the transaction.

I am confident PayPal will award me a refund based on Skip Shady’s unethical tactics and would never recommend anyone else do business with them. As I said, I think their name says it all.
