The only shipping options available for Alaska are Fedex ($70) and UPS ($95). Fedex gets transferred to USPS parcel post in Seattle or Anchorage before it comes to my town and usually takes WEEKS. UPS does come to my location but typically takes as long or longer than priority mail.
I contacted a service rep by phone, he said the best thing to do for people in Alaska is to send to someone in the lower 48 and have it forwarded.
Lame.
Now I'm paying $15 fedex ground (cheapest option) plus $5 Oregon tax to get it to someone who can get it to the post office.
They are aware of the issue but apparently don't feel the Alaska market is large enough to bother providing decent service.

"Took me three weeks (3 phone calls and 2 e-mails) to finally get a response on the status of my order. SkyGeek would cancel it unless I doubled my $1,029 order to $2,058 (plus shipping of course). They certainly did not hesitate in taking my payment, but sure took their time to engage with me. This was a normal catalog item with a list price, with nothing mentioned about minimum order. This would not have been as bad but I was promised 2x that the order would ship to me in 6 days. I left my customers hanging based on a promise from SkyGeek. My advice, look elsewhere.
