"I currently have very mixxed feelings about this company. In August I purchased a Soyo DRAGON MB and a 1.33 Ghz Athlon. Orginally ordered the 1.2 processor, but it was out of stock, so Specialty Tech gave me the 1.33 for the same price.
The board and chip arrived quickly, but when I went to install it I noticed a capacitor that had a broken lead. I contacted specialty tech and RMA the board.
Several days later I recived a new board. I installed it with out trouble.
After booting the system up I noticed right away that the soyo and award bios logo were in monochrome colors as was the bios when I entered into it. I thought it might be the videocard I had, but when my new geforce 3 card arrived a week later I noticed the same result. About Every tenth time I start the system it actually starts in color.
This didn't seem like something the board should do, also it just seemed to run slower and be less stable than my other system which has about a third of the processing power.
I also noticed other wierd anomolies that shouldn't be on a completely healthy board.
After a couple of emails about these anomolies and questions about what it could be, I was given excuses instead of solutions.
I've noticed that ever since about the time I purchased this board, specialty tech's rating on this site has dropped of significantly and reviews are much less positive.
Unless they offered me some kind of deal on getting a good working board, I don't think I'll ever buy anything from them again."
"Had a problem with a mainboard - returned
under RMA. No response to repeated
e-mails and US mail. Have written
off the mainboard/CPU. Will not use
for further needs of my clients."
