After receiving the adapter (which arrived on time), I wanted to set it up for use with Linux, but was having trouble connecting to my router (probably because the installation disk didn't include a native Linux driver). I contacted StarTech customer support, and received a very timely reply from one of their technicians who provided me with Linux code needed to compile the network driver for my adapter. I contacted the same technician several times after that, and he was always prompt and courteous. "

"This company was selling a usb infrared adapter on Amazon. The ad made no mention of restrictions regarding operating systems so the implication was it worked with all computers. Even on the box there was nothing that indicated any limitation. It wasn't until I read the instructions inside the box I learned it wouldn't work with my computer and now the company wants to charge me for a return and I have to file a complaint with Amazon to get my money back. They only send me form email responses, nothing personal."
