I tend to buy one generation back in phones to both save money and ensure I'm not getting a buggy device, or worse yet, a fire bomb. :-) The double review system on similar sites work ok, but Swappa goes above and beyond to ensure that you are getting what you are paying for and has certain requirements of sellers to ensure as much. The price graphs of the phones for sale are helpful too. Overall, it is a great experience buying on Swappa."

"I had to replace a lost phone quickly and inexpensively, and a cursory Google search later came across a pretty good deal on eBay. I've only had two phones as long as smartphones have been around, and I didn't buy either of them, so most of a week later I found out the hard way about iCloud locking. Stuck with an expensive paperweight, I called Apple to see if they could contact the original buyer to unlock it, a process I didn't realize took six business days. Eventually I started to get nervous about the unlock ticket in place, gave up and started searching around for another deal on a phone--But not before reading up about buying used phones on Reddit. A lot of people were talking about Swappa, so I checked it out.

I found a seller within a couple minutes of searching that offered two-day shipping, and the phone was guaranteed to be unlocked and in good condition. I went for it, and I'm glad I did. I got an email from Apple the day after I got the new phone up and running saying they didn't like the documentation the former buyer supplied and that they needed more evidence before they'd unlock the phone. By that time it was already in the mail going back for a refund.

Long story short, thanks for existing, Swappa. I know where I'm getting any future used devices."

Swappa, nor the seller, are owing up to the issues and responds to my inquiries unapologetically, also blatantly giving false information, overall a very disappointing experience.
