"I had to replace a lost phone quickly and inexpensively, and a cursory Google search later came across a pretty good deal on eBay. I've only had two phones as long as smartphones have been around, and I didn't buy either of them, so most of a week later I found out the hard way about iCloud locking. Stuck with an expensive paperweight, I called Apple to see if they could contact the original buyer to unlock it, a process I didn't realize took six business days. Eventually I started to get nervous about the unlock ticket in place, gave up and started searching around for another deal on a phone--But not before reading up about buying used phones on Reddit. A lot of people were talking about Swappa, so I checked it out.

I found a seller within a couple minutes of searching that offered two-day shipping, and the phone was guaranteed to be unlocked and in good condition. I went for it, and I'm glad I did. I got an email from Apple the day after I got the new phone up and running saying they didn't like the documentation the former buyer supplied and that they needed more evidence before they'd unlock the phone. By that time it was already in the mail going back for a refund.

Long story short, thanks for existing, Swappa. I know where I'm getting any future used devices."

"I have used Swappa to purchase a gently used Android on 2 separate occassions now. Both experiences were great. I had started looking into getting a used cell phone last year after my phone broke and I did not have a contract or upgrade, nor did I want to pay full retail for a new phone. I looked into some of the auction and classified sites, but did not feel comfortable with those options. Swappa has a rigorous screening process, and I felt assured that I would be protected in my purchase from sellers affiliated with them.
