"In October 2005, I purchased a Swissbit Swiss Army Knife that comes integrated with a 1GB USB Memory Drive. The Drive failed in May 2006. The product comes with a 2 year Warranty, but must be returned to Switzerland for repair. I paid $99.95 for the item through Tigerdirect.Com. After corresponding with the Swissbit Service Technicians, they agreed that the part was defective and told me to call the dealer where it was purchased. I did this and TigerDirect told me that I needed to work through Swissbit since it had been oever 30 days (which is fair in my opinion).
I correspondend with Swissbit once again and was told to process the RMA using their online Website. I began the procedure of requesting an RMA and discovered they were charging a $120 shipping & handling fee for replacement under the Warranty!
I wrote Swissbit complaining about the fee which was $21 over the retail price of the item. Their response was "We are truly sorry for this situation, but these are the terms of the RMA procedure." I plan to write Victorinox whom they partnered with in development of the Swissbit Swiss Army knife to let them know about Swissbit's business practices.
Purchase items from Swissbit at your own risk. If the item is, or becomes defective, you are basically out of luck! "
