"SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE, LYING, SHOUTING AND THEN HANG UP ON YOU
This is turning into a nightmare company for me.
I moved into a flat for a 9 month tenancy agreement in September last year and signed up to Talk Talk having spoken to them first. They informed me that I would be on a 12 month contract, to which I would be in the property for 9 months. I was told at the time of signing up that I could contact them at the end of my tenancy to cancel my 12 month contract and that I would just have to pay HALF the amount of money I would owe them for the last 3 months of the incomplete contract. I agreed to those terms.
Roll on 8 months...
I contacted them to tell them I would be moving out in 1 month and to take the necessary steps to close my account in and pay up my dues in the next month.
I was told that if I do this now, I would lose my phone and Internet with immediate effect so it would be best to contact them the day before I move out and cancel the contract then.
Roll on 1 more month...
I phoned them when I was moving out of my flat to cancel my contract.
Naturally they wanted me to set up the contract to my new address, but I would be moving back to my parents house for a month first and they already have phone and Internet with Sky so I couldn't change their service.
The woman on the phone had no interest in what I had been told both at the start of my contract or a month ago regarding cancelling my contract.
She said I needed to give a month's notice to cancel the contract, despite what I had been advised a month earlier.
In addition she said I would still have to pay the full amount due for the last 3 months.
She gave me the option of cancelling now and paying up the rest of the contract in full OR put my account on hold - which would still require me to pay in full each month even though I would no longer have an address, but was told that when I move into my new address in 1 month I could transfer everything to the new address and no extra cost other than what I was already paying.
Since I would need Internet in my next place in 1 month I put my account on hold and continued to pay them and would inform them when I knew my new address.
One month later I am about to move into the new property and phoned Talk Talk to transfer my account to the new property.
Every time I phoned them, I got a recorded voice telling me to pay up my balance - which was 0.00!!! I had nothing to pay, but I could not continue in the phone call unless I gave them a payment.
Eventually I got through to someone.
Honestly it sounded like I had got through to a family home in China with a Chinese woman shouting down the phone at me due to all the background noise which sounded like people (including kids) shouting in god only knows what language.
She had trouble understanding me and what I was trying to explain about my situation... I just wanted to reactivate my account for the new address.
Then she started telling me that I need to start a NEW 18 month contract!!!
I absolutely cannot do this as I will only be at the new address for 6 months. I had been previously told that I would be moving my existing contract over to the new address, which is basically what they had offered me when I was moving back into my parents home. But now they have changed their mind and are telling me (no, shouting at me down the phone) that I need to go to a new 18 month contract.
Then the Chinese woman abruptly told me to call back tomorrow and hung up on me.
Meanwhile, they continue to take money out of my account even though I'm not getting any service whatsoever from them.
Unbelievably poor customer service.
Now I really want to cancel and be done with it.
Talk Talk give misleading information which basically amounts to lying."
