"NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS WEBSITE!!! This seller is too suspicious to deal with. I ordered Sony Cybershot online only because their price was the best. Next day, I received an email from them saying my order had been cancelled because the item was backordered and would be out of stock for 6-8 weeks. However, the item is always posted there as an in-stock item and has never been out of stock on their website. So I replied to the email asking if they were trying to steal my credit card information. They never reply. I regret that I did not check their reputation first before ordering online. Other reviews clearly show that they are a scam. They have no will to sell their items at the prices put down on their website. Not an honest business, and everybody should stay away from this seller. Today, the item's price has been revised even lower on the website. Please do not see the cheap prices only. This is a bait."
"I ordered a GPS system from Techondigital based on the best price comparison I found. Although I received an immediate confirmation, there were instructions to call a number to confirm the order. This seemed like an unusual procedure, but I let it pass. Before I could make the call, TechonDigital called me to confirm the next day. After about one or two business-like sentences from the man, the conversation went downhill, as he tried to convince me that the Garmin device I wanted required a memory card. He interrupted my questions and became very rude in his responses. For example, he tried to tell me all Garmin GPS systems require memory cards. When I differed (my son has a Garmin, so I know), he immediately changed the subject and soon asked if I wanted the device without memory card. I said no, that I wanted to cancel the order. He mumbled a quick compliance and hung up on me. As other reviewers have stated, I, too, soon had an email that the order was cancelled, with the reason being that the GPS was out of stock! I interpret this email "cancellation" as some kind of legal "rear covering" for potential follow-on consumer complaints. Judging by the volume of like reviews of this online retailer, I conclude that it is not credible, honest, or scrupulous. I feel compelled to periodically check my credit card account to make sure that my account does not get billed for the canceled order."
"Another scam story for you .. much similar to the others, which indicates a clear business practice. Ordered the Garmin 760 online. A few days later I received an email asking me to call them to confirm the order... so I did. They wanted to sell me extended warranties and accessorties... I politely said " no thank you" . A few days later I received another email advising the item was on backorder for 6-8 weeks and they were cancelling my order. They get around this by stating on their web site that the item usually ships in 2-3 days... they don't ever show you that the item is " in stock" What a scam. So I guess if you actually want them to ship the item you purchased, you better buy the expensive accessories. Had the exact same experience with 86th Street Photo Video."
"I am so glad I found this site before I order from these scammers. After reading what was posted I decided to call them to place my order and check availability first. I was told that the camera was in stock so I said I'd like to order it. I was then told that I should buy a back up battery bacause the one from the mfr would only last 15 minutes!! I said I will wait until I get the camera and then decide. He said that it would then cost me double. I said I didn't see that on their website. I said I just want the camera. He then said that the camera was a "gray" camera. Which meant it was coming from another country the instructions would not be in English and that there would be no warranty. I told him that I had read that this was a scam company. He said that this was all written in the company policy and that people should read it before ordering.
STAY CLEAR FROM THESE GUYS!!!!!"
"Not a very good experience with Techon Digital, dba as The Camera Whiz Inc. I ordered a Garmin Nuvi 660. As other people mentioned, I received a call the next day from Techon Digital with the express purpose of padding the sale. To say it was high pressure would be an understatement. He pushed a 2GB SD card that sold for $299.00, yes $299.00. I questioned if the card was necessary and was assured that it was. (In fact, the GPS works just fine without it. You only need it if you want to use the Audible or a MP3 player function.) When I pushed the salesman on the need for the card he read something so fast and with such a bored attitude and in a Brooklyn accent that I decided to cancel the entire order. Well, you should have seen the price come down. Then he started adding extras such as a hard GPS case, a lens cleaning kit and screen protector.
We finally agreed on an additional $59.00 for the card and the extras.
The next morning I checked on prices for a 2GB SD cards and found the same card for $19.99. I called to cancel the order and was told that the order had shipped. A lie.
It shipped three days later. The invoice showed everything as one price, a value package so you could not return any one item but had to return everything, in the same packing material including the same foam peanuts. The impression I got was that if you had torn the plastic to get an item out it would not be accepted back as a return.
While not the fault of Techon Digital, UPS lost the package for more than four days at their Secaucus facility and it arrived ten days after the order was placed. Techon Digital has a seven day return policy which I was reminded of when I called back. I would not, under any circumstances, do business with Techon Digital or The Camera Whiz Inc.
I fell for the lowest price. By the way, I love the Garmin.

"RIPOFFF!!!!!!!
Super low price on a Canon Powershot SD990, but when you don't order the incredibly overpriced accessories, they email a couple of days later and say its "out of stock" and not to re-order.
If the price seems too good to be true, it probably is."
"DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM TECHON DIGITAL!!! Bait and switch routine and a waste of your time to even look at for buying anything from them. Sony Cybershot DSC-T700 $245.00 - NOT!!!
Rude, liars, crooks, Etc. Got heavily preasured to buy accessories. When I declined, I was informed that this was not a USA model and that the USA model would run $350. Canceled my order. Contacted customer service and got hung up on twice within the first 15 seconds. Called a thrid time and was told to call back later to talk to a manager. Called back the next morning to talk to a manager. I can't tell you how rude and stupid these people are. Tell you what, give them a call at ***-***-**** and see for yourself."
"Unlike many of the posters here, I did not get a call from these guys after I placed an order on-line for a Garmin NUVI 680 gps. I simply received an e-mail not more than 10 mins. after I placed the order that the unit was not in stock and that my order was canceled. These guys are classic bait and switch rip-off artists and should be put out of business. The saying, "If its too good to be true, most likely it is" applies here %100!!"
"I should have read all of the negative reviews PRIOR to ordering from these scam artists! I also should have known when I got the messages (on both cell and home) trying to VERIFY my order. When I called back and spoke to William, he turned extremely RUDE when I told him I did not need the accessories he was pushing me to buy but to just send the Nuvi 750. Then, low and behold, I got the same bullsh*t message that they send to everyone who does not buy their high priced accessories about the item being out of stock for 7-8 weeks and that the order was cancelled. I too cancelled my credit card because if these people are such low lifes, I hate to think nof them with my credit card number. RUN as fast as you can if you are thinking of ordering from them. Why can't these guys be put in jail!??? "
"Through Everyprice, I contacted TechonDigital, to buy a new Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5A for the great price of $175. The company page showed that it was "available now", and that there were over 4000 reviews (scanning quickly through the first pages, I saw that they were glowing reviews).
After placing the order, I received an answerphone message asking me to contact "James" about "confirmation". It was not convenient for me to phone back. Later a friend warned that this is a typical ruse from companies seeking to sell accessories. So I did not answer the three calls over the next few days.
Today I phoned them to check that the camera had been despatched. Someone with a thick accent offered to help, after telling me that "James was on the other phone". I courteously interrupted his sweet spiel as to how wonderful the camera is, to seek clarification whether it had been despatched. The guy got very grumpy, and said that "the camera was backordered"; "7-8 weeks"; "are you phoning to cancel the order?"; "well, are you going to wait 7-8 weeks, or not?" When I asked to speak with James, I was told he was not in today. When I said that he has just told me James was on the other phone, he replied "Right. You are cancelling your order", and put the phone down.
Great service!
Do not touch them with a disinfected bargepole!

"Great starting price, but TECHONdigital pushes add-ons via a telephone call to bring up the overall price. My experience included two add-ons that I agreed to over the phone, but the sales slip did not itemize those items and prices...it just gave a new total price. One of the two add-ons was a software upgrade and it was not itemized, the product was not upgraded, but was included in my overall new charge. Company refused to accept responsibility for their oversight. I'm appealing through my credit card company. Before I received my first product, I ordered another very low-priced item that their website said was available. When I would not agree to any add-ons via their phone call to me, I was told the product was back-ordered for 4 - 6 weeks. BEWARE of this company's marketing tricks. "
"I ordered a Garmin 760 last night. This morning I got a call trying to sell me a SD card and I declined. Then they tried to sell me a 2 or 4 year warranty and I declined. William then said enjoy your GPS and hung up. A little later I got a email telling me my order was cancelled. Sounds like everyone else that has dealings with this company."
"Techondigital.com are scam artists. I ordered a Garmin 260W first by phone. I was told I had to buy a 2008 map upgrade. When I told him that this model had only been out a few months, he hung up the phone. I then ordered on line to this company. within 3 minutes I received a phone call telling me that I had to order a SC memory card. When I pressed him by asking him if the unit needed the memory card to operate, he replied yes, then after further questioning, he admitted that it was only for mp3 players. This company is a bunch of crooks. do not do business with them any under circumstances"
"I fell for the cheap prices too! After ordering the camera, I received a call and an e-mail telling me to call them to confirm my order. Upon my conversation with William (seems many of you have delt with him), I learned that I was ordering the Japanese version of the camera, and for only $30 more, I could get the English version. I told him "no", and when he said he would sell it to me for $20, I knew something was fishy! I cancelled my order, and after reading all these horrible reviews, I'm really scared about my credit card. So far, so good! I did check back on the website, and NO WHERE does it say these cameras are the Japanese version."
"My experience 9-19-2008...
Since TECHONdigital.com had the best price ($175.00 + shipping) for the Garmin Nuvi 260W GPS, I ordered one from them last night. After the order was completed, I was sent an email instructing me to call them on their 800 number to confirm the order. This morning when I called the representative (William @ X205),he told me I needed to buy an SD memory card for this GPS to work properly. This is not truthful. I have a Garmin Nuvi 260W, and it works fine without an SD memory card. The SD card is only required if you want to store and view pictures with it. I told him I had plenty of SD memory cards already and didn't need to buy his. Next He tried to sell me one of the extended warranties. I said "no thanks". Next he told me it comes with 2005 maps and if I wanted 2008 maps it would be an additional $50.00. At this point I told him to cancel the order, which he did.
Only after calling back to speak with a supervisor, did I learn that these Nuvi 260W's they're selling for $175.00 are leftover 2005 models that were originally sold in Japan before the Nuvi 260W was introduced here in the U.S. They represent them in their web ad as "brand new factory sealed units" without mentioning that they have old maps from 2005 in them. When you call to confirm your order, you get the high pressure slick pitch from them. If you deal with them you will be sorry!"
