"Originally ordered same product through your competitor. Received nothing but terrible service. Never got a confirmation number. Not even a courtesy e-mail to thank me for my order. However, with TheCameraPros, I got a confirmation number at the end of my order. The next day I received and confirmation e-mail and a 'thank you' for doing business with them. I have to tell you, I am so way pleased with the service I received from TheCameraPros that I would not hesitate to do business again with them. In addition, I will not think twice in recommending their services to anyone. Thanks again. "
"I ordered a Panasonic AG-HVX200 camera with the professional package, and one with the intermediate package. I got an email saying to call and confirm the purchase and credit card. I called and talked to a fast talking fellow named Eli. He was very hard to understand. I couldnt tell if it was because english isn't his first language, or if he was just talking too fast. He tried to upgrade the packages. I didn't listen to what the upgrades were, because I just wanted what I ordered. When I told him that, he says "Well how are you going to use your cameras sir? You need a battery charger and an LSD screen" (yes, he called it an LSD screen.) He said the upgrades (which I now needed) would be several thousand more than I had planned on. I told him no thanks, but he said he'd talk to his manager to get me a better deal. He came back and said he could take a thousand dollars off. Still more than I was expecting. I told him I'd call back the next day to tell him how I would like to proceed. Well, no need for me to call him back! He's called me back TWICE already! I canceled the order, he asked for a reason. I told him why and said he could get me an even better deal. I canceled the order and hung up on him. We also canceled the credit card just in case.. DO NOT TRUST THESE GUYS! "
"I thought I did my homework checking out the on line retailers, including thecamerapros.com, for a Panasonic plasma TV including checking the BBB. The price was $2,228 including shipping. This company had 4 claims listed with the BBB which they stated were resolved. Order cancelled due to misrepresentation, bait and switch, lying, is more like it! I was not aware of Resellerratings.com prior to this problem.
5 days after ordering the TV I received an email stating that it was on backorder and would take 6-9 weeks for delivery and I could cancel the order. Seems like they use this same approach frequently since others on this site quoted the same 6-9 week backorder.
So I called as a new customer interested in the same TV and Bob stated that it was in stock for 5-7 days deliveryat the same price. When I mentioned the backorder email he quickly stated that I could have one for $3,100 including an extended warranty. I have reported them to the BBB and will add "company reviews" everywhere possible so others don't experience their unethical behavior. A purchase like this should be a happy experience!
DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER BUYING FROM THIS COMPANY!!!"
"I was in the market for a Sony HC46 Camcorder and after doing some web searching, found it for a very low price on thecamerapros.com. The website stated that it was a new item with the full Sony warranty. I placed the order online. Later I got an email asking to call and verify the order. I called. The guy on the other line was your usual cocky sounding New-Yorker who talked at 75 MPH. He verified my info and I asked him if this item was in stock-- he told me yes and it would ship soon. He then wanted to know if I needed a battery. I told him no, the camera comes with one. But he told me that it had no battery at this price. After hearing this, I knew it was a grey market item. Their website said nothing about it being "just the camera," so it was knowingly misleading. I told him to cancel my order. He did so and hung up quickly.
The next day I got an email from them saying the item is on backorder 6-9 weeks and if I want to cancel the order to reply to the email. Just to be sure, I responded to the email.
I've also had a similar experience with another "retailer" based in Bronx, New York. Lesson learned."
"I placed an order for a JVC GY-HD100U ("with USA Warranty") based on the Web pricing (order number 4812) and immediately received an email stating I had to call them to confirm. When I did so, a sales agent named "Robert" attempted to sell standard parts of the package (battery, microphone, cables) as extra-cost options (the standard contents of the package are listed at http://pro.jvc.com/prof/attributes/specs.jsp?model_id=MDL101539&feature_id=03 and it is unlawful to break that package apart and sell the included accessories separately). When I politely declined and asked that they simply ship "whatever the manufacturer provides as standard" for the advertised price, I received a followup email stating that the item was on a six to nine week backorder (yet four days later the item still shows as "IN STOCK" on their website and the web price continues to fluctuate on a daily basis as though it is available). JVC's main office confirmed this camera is in ready supply and there is no backorder. When I called TheCameraPros and pointed that out, another sales agent who would not provide his name called me "stupid" and "an idiot" and swore at me before hanging up (clearly another tactic to provoke cancellation of the order, since they probably cannot actually sell at the advertised price without "options" and still make money). Some investigating revealed that TheCameraPros.com is a DBA for AllStar Camera Inc. of 1151 McDonald Avenue in Brooklyn (see http://sheddingsomelight.com/buy-cameras/list/dealers-allstarfam.html for the full list of aliases this company uses). I have physically been to and photographed both addresses listed on the website; one is the storefront of AllStar Camera and the other is a house at 1006 Avenue P (near the corner of 10th). I can confirm that these are the same locations that appear on Don Wiss's excellent collection of photos of scamming Brooklyn stores (see http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/). WARNING: this company purchases sponsored links on a number of sites that lead to potentially phony "satisfied customer" messages ON THEIR OWN SITE (look carefully -- you're being steered to TheCameraPros.com/Reviews - those are reviews that they have created/posted themselves). Be warned! Do a web search on their names: "thecamerapros" and "AllStar Camera" and read the REAL opinion sites, NOT what they post themselves. Check out http://www.resellerratings.com/seller_info.pl?seller_id=11495 for TheCameraPros and http://www.resellerratings.com/seller2252.html for AllStar Camera (the latter are older reviews from when they used their real name on the web). Review after review demonstrates that this is their pattern: they'll sucker you in with a low price, then try to defraud you. If you fall for it, you won't get what you expected and they'll weasel out of refunding your money; if you DON'T fall for it, they'll never ship your order. RUN AWAY. These people are crooks.
REVISION on 6/4/2006 - I've had no further contact from TheCameraPros.com despite sending several emails. I note that the posted price remained the same for several days, then suddenly went from $3999 to $5499, then to $4499 where it is today. My order remains "backordered," although throughout the entire period, including today, the item shows as "in stock" on the website.
REVISION on 6/13/2006 - The company has changed their website so one has to click on a "view price" gadget instead of seeing the price on the main page. The price is currently given as $4399.00. My order, placed on 5/22, is still supposedly in a "backorder" status, though the item has shown as "in stock" on the website every day since then."
"I placed and order for a Cannon EOS30D. The price was very good and I was hopeful. A short time later I received an email saying that I had to call to confirm the order. The next morning I called and a in a strong Brooklyn accent I got "Yeah, gimme the security number off the back of the card." When I asked why he would need those I was promptly called an idiot. I asked for the order to be cancelled and hung up.
It's a scam."
"They said I had to pay extra for a battery and charger. Their price was $478. When I asked why the battery and charger were extra, they stated that since they were not listed on the web page, they were considered optional. Sort of like saying that since the gas tank isn't listed on the window sticker that the tank is optional and extra cost."
"The CameraPros offer a Nikon D2X body only with a US warranty for $2,800.00. The problem is they can't deliver the body only, they tell you the camera is on back order and they don't when it is coming in. They then will try to sell you the Nikon D2X in a kit for $3,800.00 which is the price of the camera. In addition to them not being able to deliver the advertised product, they now have your credit card information."
"Do not order from this company. They slammed me on the phone. The bill came with no itemized receipt included so I had no idea what prices they actually charged me except for "package deal". They sold me a battery and charger that was no more than the one included in the package--in other words, they broke apart the package and sold items separately. When I called and asked for the itemized amounts, they did not know them. They were not forthcoming with a return authorization number without putting me on hold for a long period of time and then finally calling me back with it, and also reminding me that they have AT LEAST a 10% to 25% restocking fee. On a $2795 purchase that is exorbitant. Every price they quoted me was inflated so that the "sale" price I got was actually still higher than any other website. "
"Watch out for this store. I enquired about the Nikon D50 they claim a us warrenty. It is a grey market camera. It comes without battery and then they try to sell you the battery at an inflated price."
