"On 11/11/2016 I purchased Nagkesar from the Big Indian Store. The Nagkesar that arrived smelled like mothballs. I did not know what Nagkesar was supposed to smell like, because I never bought it before, so I did not think anything of it at first. After all, there are herbs in the world that have a pungent smell, like Epazote and Eucaliptus. Epazote is well-known in Mexico and Latin America, and Eucaliptus is well known in North Ameria, Europe, and Australia. On 12/3/2016 I purchased Rampatri from the Big Indian Store, and it arrived at my location in the United States yesterday, 12/31/2016. The Rampatri smells like mothballs. For those of you who are not professional chemists, here is a quick course on chemicals: when something has a particular smell, it means that the chemical producing the smell is actually physically present in the product. The mothballs do not need to be mixed together with the product for this to happen. In fact, tiny amounts of the mothballs ingredients pass from the mothballs to the product in the air, just by sitting very close to each other. Mothballs smell the way they do because they contain 1 or 2 specific chemicals: naphthalene and dichlorobenzene. These 2 chemicals evaporate quickly, and they easily pass through plastic, and land on the product. This explains why a product might smell like mothballs. When we cook with spices, we use them in order to give the food a specific aroma. And if you cook with spices that smell like mothballs, then that means you are adding very small amounts of dichlorobenzene or naphthalene to your food, and giving the food a little bit of mothball flavor. One more important note: The Rampatri that I received had a few very small dead beetles in there, and many tiny tiny eggs that the beetles must have laid on the Rampatri pieces. Here is another quick course in spices: Rampatri is known as Wild Mace (Wild Nutmeg). In the spice industry, "BWP grade" (meaning Broken, Wormy and Punky) nutmegs are legally used only for distillation of oil and extraction of oleoresins used for flavoring alcoholic beverages and foods. So spices which are of the BWP grade, are not used in the United States for regular cooking purposes because this presents a danger of molds and aflatoxin poisoning. Based on the observations of the product that I received, with dead beetles and many tiny eggs, I am guessing that I might have received Rampatri which is of BWP quality. But this does not really matter now, because it smells so very strong like mothballs, that it cannot even be used as a spice for cooking. I am very disappointed in the spices from the Big Indian Store. When I had attempted to email unrelated questions to a store representative (via their email address), I was ignored, and did not receive a response. So when I saw that I was not receiving email responses for some days, I realized there is no point in trying to complain to the Big Indian Store that I received spices that smell very strongly like mothballs, and that they contain dead beetles. I had hoped that the Big Indian Store would provide Nagkesar and Rampatri, which are 2 spices that are extremely difficult to find outside of India, but all I got instead was products which give the flavor of mothballs. If the Big Indian Store would like to provide me with a refund, or better yet -- replace the defective spice products with spices of good quality -- then I would be happy to write another review which reflects any news in my case. Happy new 2017 year everyone!"
"Chet from the service department was proactive and helped me choose the quantity of holi powder as needed. Made the ordering quite easy. The actual colors were good. No stains. All and all, good place to go to. Will buy in future."
"I purchased utensils worth 2251 usd from this store and I must say the experience was lovely.

"I have had a bad experience purchasing a brass baby Krishna statue from this store. I live in the USA and I received the statue which has defect on the face area. I asked for an exchange or refund by sending an email to the store owner. The owner Jyoti Ladhe requested for the defect statue pictures and I have sent the pictures via email 5 days ago but she never responded back. I called her and sent emails as well but she never cared to speak or respond to my concern. Very poor customer service and they sell poor quality product! Please do not purchase things from this on-line store."
