Magazine subscription price nearly triples

"I subscribed to Wine Enthusiast magazine for several years, but they kept raising the annual subscription price by nearly 3X. If you call and complain they will drop the price, but I hate when companies do this, and it's just not worth my time to contact them every year. So I canceled and will not fall prey to their practices again. "

Deceiving practices

"Do not use this company. I just ordered some racks from them after receiving a 10% off discount code as a thank you for going to their site after visiting to view their racks. That discount link took me to their site, where I ordered and applied the promotional code we’d been sent. However the discount was not applied. So I called their customer service and was first told that the discount had been discontinued. When u then explained that we’d just now received it, I was then told that it clearly stated that certain items were excluded. I then asked why then when we were viewing their racks we were sent the promo….and why that link took us to their entire inventory (and clearly stated on the link that the discount applied to “our store”, I was asked to forward the email. After forwarding and a few minutes of researching by their rep, he pointed out that at the very bottom……if you scroll ALL THE WAY to the end of the email….there if very small fine print (so small I had to zoom in to read), it does state the exclusion. Clearly this is a tactic that I do not appreciate and I will not rest until I make sure to call them out on every social media site I can possibly do so on. It’s not at all about the $…..it’s about the principle and unfair retail marketing of this company that I take exception to."

Never delivered my wine cooler now 30 days

"Worst company in regards to customer care which is important to all of us !
I order Sept27 still no delivery no status.
Thought they were tops but no response to my inquiry .
Just another number and they have kept my payment so far!
I buy all over the world and they get an F for service really don’ t know about wine cooler as never received!!!

"My wine cooler experienced electrical damage due to a power surge. I contacted Wine Enthusiast Tech Support for assistance and was connected with Shaun Beam. Shaun has been amazing in his support and work towards resolving my concerns. He has been proactive, professional and easy to work with in resolving my problem. I highly recommend when seeking support you request Shaun as your technical support representative, he will absolutely take care of you."

This company is a disaster

"Please believe the reviews you're reading on this site and elsewhere. Wine Enthusiast is singularly bad, and you, like so many of us, will inevitably regret patronizing their business if you choose not to heed the warnings.

In January, I purchased a N'Finity Diamond Wine Bin from them. The order process was simple, and my shipment arrived within the expected time. That's when the nightmare began. It's a large bin and comes in three boxes. The problem is that one of the boxes was not for the product I ordered. It was a completely different shelf—different style, finish, and capacity. It was a strange error, but things happen, and I was willing to forgive.

When I called customer service to fix the problem, they asked which boxes I had received so they could send a replacement. Interestingly, the only box with any labeling indicating what was inside was the incorrect box! I opened the boxes to inventory their contents and take stock of the components I was missing. I had the outer supporting pieces and the trim, but the shelves were absent, thus rendering the whole thing useless.

I was informed they would work with their inventory team to figure out the correct box and send it. They also scheduled a pickup of the incorrect container.

A week goes by, and nothing. I called them back. They apologized and said they'd immediately send an inquiry to the inventory team.

Two days go by, and nothing. I called again. The customer service rep finally appeared to give up on their inventory team and said they would order all three pieces and then arrange to pick up the items I didn't need. Great! Given the circumstances, I asked if they would provide an update before the end of the day. "We'll try," they replied.

Of course, I did not hear from them before the end of the day.

Around noon the following day, I finally got an email confirming the new order, but it was not for all three pieces. It was for "box 3."

The good news is what they sent contained the units I needed. The bad news is, one of the shelves was cracked in half. Ugh.

So I called them back. Again. And told them the shipment was damaged. Customer Service said they would issue an order to replace the damaged shelving. They also said to dispose of the damaged box, which was irritating on its own. It's a bit of a hike for me to drive out to a material recovery center to dispose of furniture items. But asking your already inconvenienced customer to inconvenience themselves even more to fix the problem they created seems par for the course with Wine Enthusiast.

Another 48 hours go by, and nothing. I called again and shortly thereafter got a shipping confirmation for a replacement.

The new box arrives and...IT'S THE WRONG BOX!!! This time it was the box containing the trim I already had.

I called them again. They "apologized" and said they, again, promised to send all three boxes to avoid confusion.

A week goes by, and nothing. I sent them emails. Nothing. I called them back, and they finally admitted the unit was on backorder with the supplier, and they didn't have a timeline for when I could expect my fulfillment.

This is a company that had proven it couldn't be trusted. From my perspective, an indefinite timeline was them just trying to hope the problem goes away. So, I worked through my credit card company to dispute the charge. About a week goes by, and they finally get back to me with a tentative June timeline. I told them that was unacceptable and to issue a return and refund.

And so ended my weeks-long saga. Buyer beware.

"Customer service" cost me money and gained me nothing!

"My Wine Enthusiast cooler failed. Multiple long-hold-time phone calls resulted in recommendation to replace two parts (cost $240, including labor). Issue was then identified as being in sealed compressor system, therefore under warranty (3 yr warranty). To WE, "warranty" means crediting original purchase price ($1326) against replacement. My unit is out of production, and recommended "replacement" was offered at full price of $2899 plus shipping (!). No discount available, even though the identical unit is offered on their website for $2199 including shipping. Despite repeated calls, emails, and finally a letter, company ignored my pleas. Finally, after 2.5 months, I bought another brand unit. Cost me $1450, less than price differential to acquire new WE unit. Their "customer service" cost me $240 and buckets of time, delayed replacement by 2.5 months. NEVER buy anything from these people. I surely won't."

Never Shipped Item, CS gave me the runaround for more than a month and never followed through

"Ordered a Eurocave from them. Item just never shipped. I called every week to check the status of it. Someone would say, we'll look into it and call and/or e-mail you back. Never got a call back. Never got an e-mail back. Had to wait on hold for about an hour every time I tried calling. Really drained my soul. Don't waste the precious hours of your life dealing with this company."

Horrible customer service

"This company is horrible. If I could give 0 stars I would. Stay away. We never received 1 of the 5 boxes of wine glasses purchased (4 glasses in each box). The company says they shipped the 5 boxes in two separate larger boxes. One of the boxes had 3 boxes in it, the other had 1 box... we are still missing the 5th box. The company won't do anything about it as they say they shipped it. The company says they put 2 boxes in the 2nd box, but when it arrived it just had 1 box inside. After almost two hours on hold (literally 2 hours) they basically told me to pound sand... They "completed their investigation" and wouldn’t do anything to help me get the missing box I ordered. I told them I could send pictures of the boxes they sent and prove they only sent 4 out of the 5 boxes, but they didn't want the proof. Said their fulfillment team said their were 2 boxes in the 2nd box so it didn't matter what I told them or what proof I could supply. In addition, they wouldn't let me talk to a supervisor. Just pushed me into a voice mail box.

If this isn't enough, one of the glasses broke after we washed them after taking them out of the box. My husband was drying it and it just shattered in his hands. We have never had that happen with a wine glass before. These glasses are supposed to have a 10 year warranty... if they break they promise to replace them (fushion wine glasses). Company didn't honor the warranty and has not replaced the broken glass.

Seriously, learn from my pain and steer clear of this company. Horrible customer service and crappy quality of glasses. I will never purchase anything from this company again!

Wine enthusiast reneging on 10 year wine glass replacement deal

"In 2016 I signed up for a 10-year replacement for the Infiniti glasses eight of each the Cabernet and the Chardonnay. Over the years I have broken the glasses and called them, I think twice ,maybe three times at most to get replacements for which they charged a reasonable shipping fee. No questions asked and great customer service. Come today September 2nd 2022, I called for replacements. I asked for six of one and four of the other because they broke over the last several years and I'm slow to ask for replacements and I've limited room to store them. They wanted to charge me $99.99 and they're saying they are now needing to recoup the the expense of the glasses. So in other words, and I tried to get them to make this clear, they're reneging on my deal. Even if that's half the price of the glass that they sell now that's not what was agreed upon 10 years ago. Needless to say I'm not spending $99 for glasses from them even if they are worth it. I feel that this company is being completely dishonorable. I suppose it's possible when I signed up for it 10 years ago there may have been a clause that said the agreement was subject to change, but like I said, I've had two or three replacements, no questions asked, great customer service, for just the cost of shipping, so I really think this is wrong. I encourage people not to sign up for these kinds of deals with wine enthusiast, maybe they changed ownership? who knows? Not okay."

Bad product. Worse customer service.

"I purchased an N'Finity S Beverage Center (Order 225142) and put into use in remodeled kitchen / custom cabinets. It looks nice, but it stopped working in under one year of use. Do not buy one of these and here is why:

1) N'Finity is not a big manufacturer (like Wolf, Kitchenaid, GE, etc.) so residential appliance repair technicians will not come to service or diagnose problems. You will need to convince a commercial service to come look and will pay accordingly.

2) Wine Enthusiast customer service will not return emails beyond the automated "we received your email" initial reply. The customer service reps also will not call you back. You will need to call them. Call the 800 number and use extension 8003.

3) I was told that they would replace the unit if it was a control board or a compressor causing my issues, but only if a certified technician certified the issue in writing. This was difficult (see #1), but I did this at considerable expense. I supplied this information to WE and they subsequently declined to replace the unit. I was told one thing in a friendly conversation, paid a technician a lot to come look at the unit based on this promise. Wine Enthusiast failed to follow through on their promise. (BTW - I did not misunderstand the initial promise. I owned a very successful ecommerce business for 15 years and am clear on these types of promises.)

Do not buy this unit and do not buy anything from Wine Enthusiast that you might want serviced later.

THE ABSOLUTE WORST OF THE WORST

"Stay as far away as you can from this company. Their customer service is virtually nonexistent. And, if you can somehow get through to their customer service, they are worthless. I purchased a very expensive Legacy corkscrew from Wine Enthusiast. The corkscrew was defective. After many hours of trying to contact Wine Enthusiast, I got through to their so-called customer service (I call it customer disservice) and my defective corkscrew was replaced under warranty. The replacement was defective. Despite the fact that my corkscrew was still under warranty, Wine Enthusiast refused to repair or replace the second defective corkscrew. It is my individual, personal, subjective opinion, belief, and interpretation that I was ripped off by this company.  It is my individual, personal, subjective opinion, belief, and interpretation that the company is incompetent, dishonest, and/or unethical.  The foregoing review solely provides my individual, personal, subjective opinions, beliefs, and interpretations. Don't Buy From Them

"Worst company ever. Their so called "Product of the Year" the Electric Blue Omega All-In-One Automatic Wine Opener/Preserver and Dispenser/Aerator 6-Piece Set stopped working in less than 16 months. Customer Service is awful. All they would do is offer 15% off to rebuy it. Why would I buy the same junk? Anyway, my experience was like many others so I recommend you save your money and stay away from The Wine Enthusiast. "

They are crooks

"I bought a very expensive wine Vintage Double Half Barrel Bar. It never came and after a month I canceled the order and it never came. Now I have been trying to get a refund of my approx $2500 and cant. They don't pick up their phone, when you finally get someone on the phone they keep you on hold for over one hr telling you that they are waiting for accounts to respond which never comes. They cut off the phone and you have to do it all over again.

Terrible Service and Poor Product Quality

"My wife ordered a Spirits Vault cabinet for my Christmas present. The cabinet was delivered on 24 Nov 21 and the handle was broken. My wife told the driver she would not except the cabinet, which prompted him to call the Wine Enthusiast representative. The representative assured my wife that they would replace the handle immediately. It is now 15 Jan 22 and after multiple emails and a phone call, wine enthusiast has still not replaced the handle. Their promises are worthless and I strongly recommend that you do not buy anything from them. The cabinet handle was broken in shipping, so either the product is of poor quality or the packaging is substandard. Also, we paid $199 for the white glove service. This was a rip off, do not buy it. The delivery team were contract drivers that didn't even know how to setup or operate the cabinet. If you are expecting a delivery, do not except if it is damaged in any way. We assumed Wine Enthusiast was a reputable company, but it is not."

Terrible customer service

"Said on their website and right on my completed on my order "Delivery in 1-2 Weeks". I paid $100 for delivery. Now they are saying it won't even be at the receiving hub until 4 weeks after I ordered, and then it has to be scheduled for home delivery. I have emailed twice, I have been on hold on the phone for over an hour for them to tell me someone will have to call me back. I have been in their Chat function for almost 2 hours. So far there have been no call backs, and no followup by email or text. It has been a week. I will never order from them again, despite the fact that they are spamming my email in-box at least 6 times A DAY to buy more from them. Not a chance. "
