"In Syracuse, my friends and I went to the ThinkGeek store. They were so helpful to us and was an incredible sales guy. When you want to get more geeky stuff, I will certainly go there."
"Got my Hunter X Hunter Pops! MARGIE RULES!!!!"
"Love how they are so nice and helpful"
"Was shopping at Greenwood store with my grandkids and Jordan and Donnie were amazing! They checked on us regularly, they checked prices for us, they told us about a pre-order opportunity and were so great. They are both knowledgeable and super friendly. Loved having their help. "
"I am trying to see if there are enough people wanting to pursue a class action against Thinkgeek. Not only are there mispriced customs issues which increases costs 5 fold, the horrible customer service and product shipping quality had my daughter in tears on her birthday. I have spent 20 hours on the phone, chat, or e-mail resolving issues, and it still isn't fully resolved.... then, the biggest insult, is where... due to delay from customer service taking over a week to respond... several items that were broken or missing went "out of stock", but suddenly are "in stock" with GameStop... I am not sure if any of these are completely illegal or compelling enough to look at litigation, but it has been harmful to me emotionally and mentally, and the stress has actually created several incidents of hives, so it has become a physical harm as well... all which has been documented both by my Physician and Therapist. Whereas one person would stand no chance in actually bringing this to court, a multitude of us could make it happen.... with the average review of Thinkgeek over the past few years being 1 star, I can't be alone in thinking something needs to happen.... They have treated us like absolute garbage and then just stop responding as if they actually provided any level of service. What are your thoughts... am I an idiot or truly just dreaming, or could we make this happen?"
"I had a great experience Shawn was great and aswesome, he went out of his way to get the item I wanted and shipped to my house and I just received on 8/4/19, I would go back and shop there again"
"Always helpful and knowledgeable "
"Everyone at the store was very helpful and nice. Especially Akeem. We went to the gamestop at Broadway and 33rd to buy 2 games and the people were helpful and there was no issue with the transaction."
"I always have an awesome experience at think geek palisades mall in West Nyack, the manager cara is wonderful!!!!!!! She is always helpful and courteous and she knows her customers and what we like and makes sure every shopping experience is great. Cara is also great with kids including my 10 year old son who loves her as well. Cara is a total asset to the company and we will continue to shop with the company because of her and her amazing staff "
"I never received my package, was hung up on by apparently the head of the company (Jeff in customer service) and after paying taxes, now ups has "lost" the package. Thinkgeek does not care at all about customers. Will never buy anything from them or gamestop based on this horrific experience."
"Hi, my cashyear was Desiree she was very sweet and helpful, all the staff at the thinkgeek I went too was very nice had a great experience!
"
"ONE OF THE WORST ONLINE RETAILERS I HAVE DEALT WITH. I brought item for 60.00 instead of 250.00 on customs forms they ALWAYS out the MSRP rather than what you have paid thus making customs OVERCHARGE you. They have had 15.00 bed sets then customs form put item through as 100.00!!!! I am expected to pay £80 in customs instead of £20 because of there screw up. When contacted they basically said if I refuse delivery item will go back to them and then they not refund me. That IS THEFT! TRULY HORRIBLE JOKE OF A COMPANY. Every year we go Orlando and spend £400 in the shops I WONT EVER buy from them again! You have been warned!"
"I got an add for 50% off "clearance" on thinkgeek.com, so I chose some items I liked to purchase. I followed size charts on the product listings to ensure I was purchasing the correct size. It said I was a 3XL when normally I am a L or XL. I ordered 2 XL just to be on the small side of the size charts since it's a weird range. According to the size chart, the waist and bust would be .5-1 inch small. When the dresses and shirts came in, they were HUGE. The size chart was completely wrong. It claims the measurements are taken from the garmet itself, but when I measure the garmet, the size chart was off by a good 4-5 inches for every measurement. I contacted customer support to do an exchange and it looked like they would accommodate me, but surprise surprise. Some of the items were out of stock, which makes sense for clearance items except... the listings were all back to normal retail price and no longer listed as clearance?!
Here's what I was told to do to exchange:
***Please place a new order for the items in your desired size, style, or color. Once you have your new order number, please email us back at ****@**** or reply to this email with your original order number and new order number. Once your new order has shipped, a refund of the shipping charges paid will be processed, as well any promotional price difference. I see some of the items (I believe two) are not available in that desired size so just do what you can for the exchange. ****
So the problem there is "so just do what you can for the exchange." I asked multiple people (because it takes 2-3 days to get a response from thinkgeek and I had a trip to prepare for so I didn't feel like waiting), and they agreed it sounded like "pick similar items and we'll make it work." That's how I would handle such an issue with the company I run, but thinkgeek MEANT "We will only refund the promotional difference on the exact same items that were on your first order." The entire time I was speaking with customer service, there was never ownership of the issue. The sales rep deflected and blamed the clothing vendors (plural, yes) for the inaccurate size charts, and refused to acknowledge that her phrasing was bad. She dropped the age old passive aggressive "as per my last email," on me and I lost my sh**. This is the worst customer service experience I've had in a long while. Combine that with the fact that their shipping is so god awfully slow (it took 4-5 days for my order to ship, and another 4 days to arrive), I can get things for half the price from china in almost the same time.
This was an absurd experience, and the quality of the products are no better than what you can get from aliexpress or ebay. Save yourself money, headache, time, and just order from chinese sellers. At least then you're not paying a premium and you expect poor english language from customer service.
Backstory about me: I have worked in tech support and customer service for over 10 years for AT&T, Apple, and other fortune 500 companies at senior roles. I now run two companies one of which deals direct with customers. I handle customer service for that company, and we'd be driven out of business in a few months if we treated people this way. "
"I ordered a floor mat on this site, and got emailed a receipt which stated $35. This seemed like a reasonable price. However, what I did not know is that this was $35 USD and this price was not converted, even after I entered my shipping information, to CAD. So, the mat came to $49. While this was pricey, I wasnt overly upset... HOWEVER, I was quite infuriated when I received at $17 customs fee! So a mat that I thought I was spending $35 on ends up being $76???!! This is completely unacceptable and overpriced; had I known that there were these hidden charges I would NEVER have spent that amount on a freaking floor mat. "
"My new daughter in law had the Harry Potter tea set from ThinkGeek on her wedding registry. At $149.99 she did not receive the gift. When I saw 50% off on Black Friday ($75) I thought hell yes, great Christmas gift for her. When it arrived I could tell the box had been previously opened and most likely returned once. One of the saucers had a chip and a crack in it. I went online and read the return policy which sounded good but the time it would take to ship back and get a replacement was too tight for Christmas. So I ordered another set but this time the price was ($105). I figured I would return one at the $105 price point. But no, I was too honest when explaining to customer service what I had done and they insisted they would only refund me the $75. I should have not volunteered that information and told them the second set was the broken one, but I was too honest for them I guess. So all in all I paid $30 extra for an unbroken saucer. That is not good business and not the kind of business I deal with. I told them to take me off the email list and I will not being business with them again. They could care less. That said, the Harry Potter Tea Set is beautiful, much nicer than I expected, and she will love it. It is too bad the customer service is so poor. The information about returns on the website makes it sound like they have a good policy, in reality they do not."
