"I hired a company "LATTA PAINT AND FLOOR" in the Birmingham, Alabama area for paint work in a house I had just purchased at the time. When Kristian Latta (owner) came out to my home, he sat on my sofa after painting for a few minutes. At this time, my 18 pound dog jumped up on the ottoman in front of him. He then reached his hand as far back as he could and struck her on her rear, causing her to fly from the ottoman and crash into the sofa head first. He then made a repulsive comment about what he had done that I can't post here out of concern that the review will be removed.
Because of what had happened, and how unstable he clearly is, I posted my 1 star review, and waited a year later until I moved out (and he didn't have my address) to post the text on my review. I recently was randomly thinking about my awful experience over this previous weekend, and decided to look up, “LATTA PAINT AND FLOOR” on Thumbtack, and found that the text of my review had been removed. I immediately called Thumbtack on Saturday 05/16/2020, and was advised by an automated system that they were closed on the weekends. I called them back first thing this morning, and was advised by rep Samantha that because the text was posted after the initial one star review was posted, the review team automatically comes in and removes the text from the review.
It should be noted that I had also spoken to reps at Thumbtack about this incident prior to the phone call this morning, and AT NO TIME did anyone ever say I had a, "Time Limit" to post the text on a review. I then demanded to speak to a supervisor. A supervisor named Alan came onto the phone. You could tell in his voice that he didn't care one bit about the situation. At one point he said that his hands were tied, and that there was nothing he could do. He was very heartless about the whole thing. This company will do whatever they can to keep making money. This even includes protecting animal abusers who call themselves, "Pros". I would strongly recommend that you find other avenues for hiring true professionals to come into your home and perform services. Especially if you care about your loved ones. It's obvious that this company connects people with the worst of the worst of companies."
"I gave them plenty of occasions to fix the lie. They let a client (probably a scammer or fake account) talk about my business.
He left a 1-star review after he lied about hiring me.
He said he "hired" me, and he never did, I never got paid I never even knew his name I just told him I wasn't doing the type of work he required
But thumbtack trusted him and with no prove confirmed that I was "hired by him" (that is not true and when asked them to show me prove they said they don't need any) and consequentially he was able to review me one start!
When I never had any interaction with him other than telling him I couldn't do his type of job.
(and thumbtack was able to read out correspondence and confirmed to me he was not the type of job I was filtering with for my leads!)
Not only they made me automatically pay for his lead because he lied about the type of job and made me spent 30$! But they allowed a person I paid 30$ (a fake person) to rate me over a service I never gave!?
and I spent 1 hour with your customer service to be told it was okey he can lie about me I need to answer him in the review, and they didn't want to delete the fake review (nor give me back the money obviously, but that is their standard business)."
"This used to be a great company, building up their business by having a functional online platform, fair prices and good treatment of professionals, very unusual in their industry and obviously a huge breath of fresh air! After they grew, they very gradually became greedy and corrupt. It is one shady move after another in pursuit of freeloading money from professionals. Prices for their services have increased about 5 times in the last year or so, I don't think we have had even 10% of that of inflation in our ballooning economy. Their latest scam, they change your travel service preferences without your permission so you get many irrelevant and unwanted emails. When you go back in to change everything to your own original preferences, they try to force you to do some promotion thing and essentially get on a auto-subscription set up even if you don't want to. They are going straight down the toilet and I have stopped using them for a while now already. There is no nice way to say it when a company tries to take advantage of its customers in these ways: Greedy, worthless and doomed!"
"The 3 complete incompetent losers sent to us via Thumbtack knew less about painting than I did. I ended up investing 6 minutes doing it the old fashioned way (Google search, lol!) like I should have to start with and found 4 companies ranging from good to exceptionally competent to choose from. I trust my own discernment process much more that a web company looking to make money off of reselling services of fools who can't market for themselves. Lesson learned!"
"I used thumbtack pro. Im A license master Plumber in Texas and turns out Thumbtack lets anyone scam people by promoting handyman as licensed contractors, plumbers and electricians. So if your a license professional you will compete against low life unlicensed personal at least 5 competitors. I brought this up to thumbtack and instead of fixing it they canceled my membership. Its a scam. If you want cheap labor and poor quality Thumbtack is you source!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"I am a contractor and I've been using Thumbtack for about 6 months and I am pretty happy with their services. Great thing about them is that there is no membership fee and you only get charged credits which you have to buy from them , you also get to pick on how many you want to buy and price per credit is reasonable. You definitely have to be patient, in the beginning you will have to send a lot of bids which in most you will not even get a respond, but some will and out of those some eventually you'll get a job. Once you have couple of 5 star reviews you'll get more and more jobs. I and and small buiness and I have signed contracts with Olive Gadens, Red Lobster, Commercial multi until buildings and residential customers. Before you accept any lead it is good to check if a phone number is provided after accepting a lead so you can call that customer right away and schedule a free in home estimate."
"Installed Siding, did exceptional work, Also installed new roof, again very professional. Definitely recommend to anyone. No corners are cut done right. In addition they work with you as well. If anything your not satisfied with they fix it immediately, some small things I wanted done they didn't even charge me. That was awesome! Most contractors nickel and dime you for extra thing they don't. "

"We hired R. Faticone Painting to paint our bathrooms. There were paint drops left on granite and used white grout around the brown granite and lite brown walls. We have to figure how to correct that. He was on time and friendly, but we would not rehire."
"Review for Contractors who use Thumbtack.com, Only use them in the spring, and be very picky with your bids. Most of the thumbtackers are stragglers or one and done. After you run out of your first supply of credits, you should complain about the customers and Thumbtack will give you 15 free credits. Only do customers that are very close to your business. I can only warn you about how bad these customers are. They are going to be very difficult, be prepared to say okay to there difficult and ever changing demands. Hopefully you can get some weeklys and bi-weeklys, good luck but remember only use Thumbtack in the spring and you will also have to charge more than you usually do. You will probably only win 1 out of 5 bids and that will cost you about $25, so you better hope it's not a one and done job. "
