"I would not use TimTechs again. I ordered a mid-level Nokia cell phone that showed as "in stock, usually ships in 24 hours". Heard nothing for ~3 days (including over a weekend, to be fair). Then the status of my order changed to "shipping in process". No more word the next day, so I emailed them. They responded quickly saying the item is out of stock and they hope to have it in 1-2 weeks, what do I want to do. They said they "had been trying to contact me", but somehow they never reached me despite having my phone number and email address.

I replied asking them to keep the order open for now, then changed my mind a few days later and emailed them to cancel. They replied saying no problem. Then I see a charge for the amount of the phone show up on my credit card, dated the day after I placed my order. When they didn't even have the phone in stock! And the whole week between placing my order and deciding to cancel because they didn't know when the phone might be in stock, their web site still shows that model as "in stock".

They were apologetic, and I did get a refund within a few days after I complained that they had charged me. But, they've claimed that the problems are due to a "temporary technical problem" with billing. I don't believe it, because a year ago I ordered a different low-end Nokia from them and the exact same thing happened. Web site shows in stock, I placed order, got charged immediately, then find out they don't have it in stock and don't know when they can get it.

So, they haven't ripped me off, but they've charged me twice for phones I ordered that said "in stock" on their web site but they actually didn't have the phones, and then I had to ask to get a refund. Also a complete waste of my time, I'm not going to gamble on whether a phone on their web site is truly in stock or not.

"I purchased a Samsung Omnia i900 cell phone from http://www.timtechs.com. This phone is advertised on one of their web site pages: http://www.timtechs.com/samsung_sgh_i900_omnia_unlocked_prd365.html.

One of the claims made for the phone on TimTechs site is:
Quick Connect
Waiting for downloads is history with EDGE and 3G HSDPA connectivity. What Timtechs fails to advise or warn is that the phone is that the 3G and HSDPA features will not work in the U.S. market, since the phone is made for the European market.

My first indication of the above is that the phone was shipped to me from Hong Kong, not from Newark, DE 19711 United States, the address listed on their web site, and that the phone was not called Omnia, but Player Addict, and that the only manual shipped with the phone was in FRENCH. No English language manual was included.

After numerous email exchanges with TimTechs I was told:
"Please be advised that as per our terms and conditions, we often supply phones of different versions and from different areas. This is due to the fact that our phones are imported. If it were to be an American model then this would have been stated in either the product title or the colour option selection. Therefore it is not the case that we have shipped the wrong phone. This would be where the UTMS band differences be..."

In reading their "terms and conditions" I see no reference to what was mentioned. In any case, this information is well hidden on their web site and nowhere in the product information does it state that the phone may be made for a different market, or use different frequencies than those used in the U.S.

When I talked about returning the phone, I was told that I would be charged 20% or more restocking fee, which in this case amounts to more than U.S. $80.00, plus other charges for various things.

Bottom line, I paid $400 for a phone that won't work as advertised in the U.S., and TimTechs will not respond.

"Bought from these guys. They have a problem sending the phone to an address different from the payment address. Its understandable, but my credit card lists the second location as a verified shipping location. Oh well. They'll have to contact you to verify, but their hours are so messed up, I don't know if its pacific, eastern, or even a chinese time frame. But they will try to call you once everyday, just make sure you catch that.

But getting the phone was very quick (after clarifying the address). Shipped from HongKong via Fedex, got to me in LA, California in 2 days. Bought a c901 black, and it came in perfect new condition (international version). They open the package to check that the phone isn't a lemon, and reseal it, it's written somewhere in the faqs.

I also thought I had a problem where they didn't include a cable in the package. I emailed their customer support, and they emailed back in 1 day. Pretty good service, and turns out that the c901 doesn't come with that usb to computer cable. My research found out the same thing.

Overall, a very satisfactory purchase from these guys. Probably will buy from them again, if their price isn't too high.

"First time buying unlocked mobile phone over the net (Blackberry Bold). TimTechs got recommended highly from the Crackberry forums. Compared its prices with the other recommended sites, and they are either cheaper or around the same range. What sets the store apart is that they have a US presence. I had trouble with Fedex delivering my package and called the store. Someone answered, and gladly helped me sort things out with Fedex. Also the delivery is very timely. I'll order from them again, but next time I'm praying Fedex won't screw up."
