"Asked why I didn't receive my order when I requested it 2nd Day air, and got it 6 days later, I wasn't really **** until that it is she passed the blame onto someone else when they clearly were in the wrong.... the only thing I did wrong was not read the reviews of the site prior to purchase"
"I purchased two of metal cased 7 ports USB hubs (Model Number USBG-7U2ML) from USBGear.com in 2010. I knew one port on one of them stopped working shortly after. A couple of days ago, I smelled burned chemical and saw orange light flashing through one of the open ports of the USB hub. I plug off all the USB devices and opened the case. I discovered that there are two black burned marks on the board close to the two ports. I also noticed that the inside of the top cover shows a black burned mark. If the case was plastic and paper is left close, the house could have caught a fire! I would not buy from them again. "
"I wish I had read these reviews before ordering. Their web site is awful, order updates don't post, days taken to response to an e-mail, then when I requested the order to be cancelled, got a nasty threatening e-mail in response that claimed oder was shipped already, and they consider me a fraudulent customer. When I responded to, supposedly, another customer support person, I received a phone call from the nasty Rene.
It will be interesting to see if I ever receive the item, and if it does, or does not perform as advertised
The negative reviews express my experiences with them as well.
This company, or at least the owners, should not exist, and do a dis-service to on line purchasing.
Deal with them at your own risk, and only if you want a bad experience.
I certainly will never again."
"I am just going to reiterate what many more before me has already said.
I purchased a 60ft USB extension cord, leery if it would actually work, but I was sold by USB gear's own statements of performance. I get the cabe and guess what, it doesn't work. I can't even get Windows to recognize my unit being connected, let alone transfer any data.
I request a return, I ship it back UPS (paying myself). Weeks pass, no word, no refund. Email them again asking what is going on, no reply, email them again 5 days later, and I get a response that that the refund has been issued -25% restocking fee.
This is indeed clearly stated in their return policy, but should that really apply on items that are not working as advertised? I think not!
All in all, a horrible online shopping experience, I would not recommend them even if they were the ONLY place on this planet that carries what you need. You'd be better off finding an alternate solution to your problem."
"Horrible Experience!
I ordered an item on Jan 21,2011 and still to date have not received the merchandise. They were quick to take the money out of my account $49. Today I find out that finally they sent it, via UPS to make matters worse. I hate dealing with UPS, it was like adding salt to an open wound. I applaud retailers that use USPS to deliver their merchandise to customers. It gives the US Mail a chance to survive. UPS is just not my choice of carrier to do business. I avoid companies that deliver through them. REALLY! Anyway, I think USB Gear took their sweet time in filling my order. This is the first and last time I order from them EVER!!! Bad customer service and there is even a disclaimer at their bottom page of their order tracking page stating that "the customers are many times wrong" which I understand. But it just shows their arrogance towards customers.
Stay Away from these companies.
USBGear.com QCUSA. Part of COOLGEAR Family"
"This item was advertised as a DIN-mount USB hub, however, it does not come with DIN-mount brackets. I called customer service and they unapologetically advised that I'd need to supply my own DIN brackets (and that they don't sell them). I told them their product description was misleading and they should change it--the CSR said I should email customer service to tell them so. WTF?
Despite other purchases from the *Gear.com family of vendors, I'm disappointed with their misleading product description and apparent lack of concern regarding it.
Thumbs down."
"This was my second order. Both times fast shipping and products exactly as advertised."
"Bottom line: Avoid this site.
Long version: Any time an ecommerce site is part of a vague, nebulous network of sites, I'm suspicious. Honestly, I'm impressed that I even got my order, considering the company is based in Florida. I recommend avoiding the site though, due to their 15% restocking fee on all returns. Plenty of other sites out there without that restriction. Shipping was unreasonably expensive too.
And I just checked - every single one of the positive reviews of this site was made by an account that was registered the day the review was posted, and has no other reviews. That seems awfully suspicious to me."
"WARNING: This is owned and operated by a one-man shady businessman out of Clearwater, Florida going under the names: "usbgear.com, cooldrives.com, usbmax.com", and several others.
After two business days after ordering my rush 2-day shipping, I received weird tech support email showing that my order was out of stock; and, wont be available 3-5 business days. No apologies, nor sincerity, nothing. Their website shows pretty much everything as "In Stock"... while most items are NOT.
It wasn't very surprising when I called the support phone number, that the person who claimed to be "the owner" sounded extremely unprofessional and rude (talking over me, etc), actually kind of slimy character ...not somebody I'd ever want to do business with.
I guess that's why Amazon.com screens all their resellers. If Amazon doesnt trust them, I probably wouldnt either.
It's sad to see companies like this get away with such poor service for so many years. Hopefully, people do web searches before ordering from this guy. If money had transferred hands, I would definitely report the way this person does business to the BBB."
"The online order tracking is a joke. It provides no information. I have made several calls to the number on their website. No one has called me back. I ordered the USBG-50x extender on 4/1/2010. It is now 4/16/2010. No cable, no answers from the company, the only thing that they have done is take my money ($54.78) and refuse to talk to me. I am giving them until 4/20 and then I am calling my credit card company to claim fraud and get my money back,"
"Terrible service! You can't contact them! My order had defective items, plus they only shipped half of my order. But you can't contact them. Their phone gives you a recording saying you MUST use the online system to report problems, but they ignore it. DON'T ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY!
UPDATE: I have spent several hours responding to a thoroughly irritating worker there named Rene. She provides no useful information and doesn't answer specific questions, which she ignores. Instead she complains that I don't know what I'm doing. These guys have a 25% restocking fee, even if the products are defective. So if there is any problem with your order, even if it's their fault, you will lose 25% of the order, plus the original shipping, plus the return shipping.
In summary: useless customer service people, defective hardware, high restocking fees."
"item is what we requested. however, if shipping 2nd-day air means delivery 5 days later because of weekend and/or holidays, seller should say so when order is placed or shipping is selected. to charge for 2nd-day air when it will not be delivered in 2, or 3, or even 4 days is poor service."
"Coolgear USB to serial port adapter was recommended to work with specific machine shorthand writer and software. Easily ordered; fast delivery, and product works as described. Very satisfied. "
"FANTASTIC!!!! Item works like a charm. Price was right and the shipping was insanely fast!!! I will definitely buy from them again!!!"
"Very satisfied with USB Gear. Prompt shipping and delivery. The product (USB hub) works like a charm. Definitely will buy stuff from USB Gear again...
