"Recently went to Value City Furniture for a dining room table. Bought an American Signature Grand Regency Table. After picking it up, bringing it home and putting it together, we discover literally hundreds of holes and tiny splits all throughout the wood. When we went back to the store, we discovered that all of the American Signature products had these holes and splits. We were told it adds to the character of the piece. A few tiny holes might be "character", hundreds are horrible. I recommend people NOT buy American Signature, especially in a dining room table. It can never be uncovered as these holes would be impossible to clean if a spill got into them, plus it looks terrible!"
"I recently visited Value City store off of Hall Road in Michigan in search of a reclining sofa. My husband and I found one we wanted. We had decided on the fabric protection. We decided we didn’t want the extended warranty, and were to the point of paying.
As the sales person handed us the bill, which included the extended warranty we didn’t want, we were told the sofa was back ordered for a month. We were only told this when we insisted on finding out the delivery date before handing over a credit card. If we hadn’t insisted, the sales person would have had us pay first before telling us the sofa we wanted was back ordered. This seems to be an exceedingly shady practice to me.
The sofa, if not available, should be marked, or the sales person should have known about it before we went through all the details. We even asked about taking the floor model and was told that wasn’t possible. Why they want to keep unavailable furniture displayed is beyond me, with the current economy no one is going to want to purchase a product they will have to wait more than a month to receive.
Be careful if you go here and don't give your credit card till you know they actually have the product they say they have."
