However, I switched to a month-to-month because money started to get tight, and then when I tried to cancel before the next payment, they took my money anyway and did not give me a refund. However, the tutor was great. It is just not the customer service in the end. They need to work on a better termination phase. "

"Even after opting out of auto renew payments I was still charged for 2 months over the summer totaling to $800 even though my app clearly states that I declined auto renewing. When contacting their office for a refund our request was denied and we didn’t even receive a credit for the 2 months charged since they expire at the end of the month. After writing reviews I was contacted by they’re financial department and was scheduled for a meeting and received a full refund for what was charged."

"My first interaction with customer service was outstanding - I spoke with Katie from either Oregon or Washington state (I forget which one!). My kindergartener was struggling a lot and we needed help. While our first tutor was a lovely person, she wasn’t the right fit for us. When I called customer service again to discuss my options, the person I spoke to (I think Jordan was his name) was also extremely helpful and understanding of our situation. He quickly took action and got us a new tutor right away. After some challenges getting connected due to illness and other factors, we finally met Ananda. She has been beyond exceptional since the first moment we met her. We are at a 6 hour time difference and she makes the extra effort to stay up late to work with my daughter. And my now first grader is THRIVING because of Ananda’s help and advice to me as her mom. I highly recommend Varsity Tutors. To any potential students, don’t be shy about switching tutors (I was at first) to find your fit. Customer service wants to help!"
