this is to let people out there know of my shopping experience with vintage detroit collection ("vintage'), especially for canadian residents who support the detroit red wings and like to wear/use DRW gear. i'm steven and i reside in southern ontario, canada.
originally i had purchased a blank DRW jersey and was set to have it crested with DATSYUK -13 with coolhockey.com who are based out of north york, ontario. because i ended up having issues with CH's cresting work, (specifically the player name lettering which was asymmetrical and of which CH was unwilling/unable to fix) i ended up sending a blank DRW jersey to vintage detroit, based on the research that i did. while the whole situation took a long time, it was a learning experience for the better. there are customization companies out there that are good at what they do, others, not so much.
i explained the problems i had with CH to vintage and immediately upon dealing with customer service rep jim hughes from vintage, i felt that i was dealing with the right kind of people that could get the job done right.
if jim as a customer service rep was a hockey player, i would nominate him for the following awards:
-masterton trophy (dedication)
-conn smythe (knows how to close deals, mvp customer service rep) because he did an unbelievable job with replies, usually answering within hours the same day - if not the next day. answers provided were detailed explanations. no question was ignored. furthermore, he welcome anymore questions that i had with enthusiasm, always willing to do whatever it took to provide meaningful answers.
jim even sent me artwork of what the cresting was going to look like prior to vintage doing the job, to make sure we were both in agreement with what the final product would look like.
jim made sure throughout all 3 cresting jobs, that everything concerning the orders and shipping was looked after properly.
given that vintage did a great job with the datsyuk cresting, i ended up having an yzerman and subsequently a lidstrom cresting job executed with vintage. given that the red wings use vertical arch lettering, it requires each letter to be cut specifically in a manner that matches up symmetrically to the name being produced. vintage specializes in such work!
