"I really, really don't like Walmart. Lunch inside a public porta-potty has more appeal than a shopping trip to Walmart. Many years ago, a foul mouthed associate adorned in a blood splattered apron, reeking of rotting fish made a rude remark to my wife. My teary eyed wife located me in the customer service line where I was returning yet another defective Walmart product. We paged the manager, explained the situation and asked him to accompany us back to the meat department for an apology. No go. It's against store policy. I abandoned two carts of goods worth $300 and headed for the local HEB. Add extraordinarily bad customer service to the cheap, imported products and you've defined the Walmart experience.
The on-line store has all the charm of a visit to Walmart without the rotting fish aroma. I recently came across a GPS unit at an unbeatable price. Ship-to-store was out of the question. I do not go to Walmart; ever. The allure of a low price with 97 cent shipping caused a neuron misfire and I ordered the product. The package was shipped quickly; way too quickly. The external packaging looked like it had been used for pectoral muscle exercises. It was squeezed toward the middle from both sides; three inches or more on each side. The internal box containing the GPS was bulging like it was about to give birth. Massive amounts of tape were holding the lid closed. The unit was further encased in a clear plastic molding that I now refer to as the placenta. This explains the low price. The item appears to be a factory second because of defective package engineering. Fortunately, for me, the GPS unit was undamaged. I consider myself lucky, but not lucky enough to risk another order from this site. "
"Awesome...great price, product as expected, shipping tracked and on time. "
"Walmart.com is a pathetic excuse for an online store. I ordered a $1000 TV from the site, the order was confirmed, shipping was guaranteed by the Christmas, and a $1000 hold on my debit card for the purchase price. Hours later, my order was canceled with no explanation or apology, and when I went back to the site the TV was listed as out of stock. The $1000 hold placed on my account was not released for nearly a week. Not only that, but when I used the 'find in a store' feature, it was obvious that many of the store addresses were incorrect (Google maps was able to find the real addresses) and while the item was listed as in stock at 6 different stores, all but one I learned were actually OUT OF STOCK when I called the store. Walmart will never be competitive in the digital age unless they learn to show their customers enough respect to NOT falsely advertise, and to NOT hold customers' money hostage. "
"This is my first order from walmart.com and the last one, yeah. I will keep ordering from amazon in the future. I bought a few books with stickers, great books even if they have no stickers, but kids love stickers, I thought great gift from Santa for kids in our building. Amazon had them in stock but without stickers, at walmart.com it was mentioned everywhere, CAPITAL LETTERS! in description, in my shopping cart, in my order page, in my invoice inside the package """WITH STICKERS""", the picture of the book had a seal "stickers included", all books I received had no stickers. I passed the deal on amazon and paid $9 for shipping just to get these darn stickers. Nobody emailed and let me know about any changes, or perhaps they just don't care what and how they advertise. I just could get free shipping and an extra free book on amazon for less. No, I do not have time to do returns or place new orders at this time. huh walmart... thanks"
"This is my first time ordering from the Wal-mart website, I honestly chose it because of the cheep price and nothing else. Anyway, I ordered the Platinum edition of NGE and because I wanted to watch it as soon as possible, I chose 2-3 day shipping to home. Well, the order arrived 9 days later (including a 4 day wait for processing), kind of long I thought, but it did arrive in pristine condition and now I'm a pretty satisfied customer!
So would I recommend Wal-mart, probably not. the shipping is much faster on Amazon, so I'll continue to order most of my stuff from there."
"Walmart.com is extremely BAD. My order became backorder after I paid. They are prompt enough to bill my card but shiping is FOREVER. Customer service ignored my first inquiry. They just made up excuses and want you to spend money on your stuff. Any little benefits or free stuff is just for show. The worst online store EVER."
"Copy of letter I sent to Wal-Mart. Yet to get a repl.
My wife and I had a rather unpleasant shopping experience in the pharmacy department in your store on Saint Lucie West Boulevard, Port Saint Lucie Florida on November 28, 2009. We are infrequent Wal-Mart shoppers and want to know why we should return.
We have never used the Wall-Mart pharmacy. We have our prescriptions filled either by a required mail order or at Publix or CVS. I have a rather good insurance plan and only pay a co-pay. I had two prescriptions for my wife and decided to go to Wal-Mart as I had to go to an adjoining store.
I left the prescriptions at the pharmacy at approximately 12:45 PM. They took the information from my insurance card and I was told to pick up them up after 2 PM. We returned at 3 PM. The clerk retrieved the order and told us it was $81. I told her that there had to be a mistake because I knew that the drugs were generic and that with my co-pay it should be only $5 each. I gave her my insurance card (again) and about 10 to 15 minutes later she returned and asked if we had another insurance card. I told her that’s the only one I had and I had used it for years at both Publix and CVS without any problems. I then asked her for the prescriptions back. She threw it us and walked away. They had clearly never contacted the insurance company and had no idea of what to do.
I spoke to someone in customer service and an assistant store manager. I told them what transpired and that the people in the pharmacy department could use a course in customer service. The assistant manager asked us if we wanted her to take the prescriptions over and see what the problem was. We told her no and that Wal-Mart needs me more than I need them.
Before I retired I was part of a very highly visible state agency that prided itself in the way we treated our clientele. Poor treatment by my staff would have resulted in a phone call to state officials and a written reprimand in the employees file and an effect on the employee’s annual review.
We took the prescriptions to Publix and in less than 15 minutes we were on our way and the total cost was $10 for the two.
I read that Wal-Mart is looking to upgrade its image and bring in a more upscale clientele. Before you can attract an upscale clientele you have to learn how to treat them. Price, especially to a more affluent clientele, is not the only draw. My wife and I are willing to spend a few extra dollars and be treated properly. As I said before – why should we return to Wal-Mart?
As an aside: one reason that we don’t shop at Wal-Mart more frequently is that every time we’ve shopped there for groceries is that there are always items that are out of stock and we wind-up having to go to another supermarket. I stopped going there for Mobil 1 motor oil as they were always out of stock. What good is a low price if you don’t have the item?

"I have ordered online with Walmart at least a half dozen times. The item always arrives when stated and if I decided to return it for any reason, I just take it to the store...no mailing to be hassled with."
"Bought Transformers blu-ray big screen edition online and did site to store. had to wait a few days before it got to the store. went to store and saw sign for site to store pointing to customer service desk. lady said i had to go all the way back to the store to pick it up. (walmart loves to send ppl all over the store to get things for marketing reasons....) go to the area but no one was there. pressed on a pad to notify clerk and i waited a good 10 mins. the manager of the store actually ended up assisting me. (his photo was on the wall with all the employees of the month) got the package. just bubble mailer... at least i ended up getting what i ordered!"
"I used Walmart's gift registry to order baby shower gifts for a young couple I know. It was very convenient, but the ordering program needs a little work as my first attempt didn't take. I ordered two items that were online specials. It turned out they shipped from different locations so the recipients got them separately. One item was delivered promptly, the other took over a week longer. Both seem to have been delivered in good condition."
"This is my 2nd order from Walmart.com using the free shipping option "Site-to-Store". I like this option because I can pick it up when I want (after getting the email that it's ready for pick up). I don't have to make sure I'm home to get it, sign for it, or just have it just left by the door for anyone to steal. The down side is shipping can sometimes be a little slower. If I was in a really big hurry I might choose another option. But I'm used to ordering items with 7-10 day shipping so it's not a big deal for me.
When I went to pick up my item, I had to wait a short time for someone to process & get the order from the back but not enough to get upset over. The associate helped me get a heavy item into my car which I really appreciated.
The best thing is you can get some really great deals on end of season stuff that's no longer in the store & don't have to pay hefty shipping charges."
"I decided on the Garmin eTrex Vista HCx for my handheld GPS, they had the best price, and had it at my door within 4 business days.
If unsatisfied I can return it hassle-free and sans-shipping costs since my local store is just over a mile down the road.
My only complaint, was the packing / shipping box was a bit larger and light on filler so the product was able to shift quite a bit - luckily the retail box was sturdy enough to take abuse."
"I purchased a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XSi 12.2 MP with 2 lenses. Fast shipping and a great camera!
My second online order from them, no problems with either one. Very Happy!"
"I placed an online order (Site-to-Store shipping, which was the only available option, red flag #1) for an iPod Touch, only reason I ordered online, it was like $10 cheaper than the store itself and came with a free accessory kit. When ordered, it said 7-10 days shipping. I was semi-ok with that, I mean I got some free stuff, right? So I ordered it. 3 days later, my accessory kit comes in, shipped by FedEx. Today is now the 23rd, and I'm still sitting here without my ipod. The thing about Walmart and Walmart.com, is it's 2 different companies, they cannot let you take stock from the store, you have to wait on YOUR product to come in. Also, after you order, they give you an estimation of roughly 16 days from your date of order. 7-10 days my butt!! My ipod's status has said "In Transit to Store" from a location about an hour and a half away since yesterday at 7:34am. Trying to call the store and getting someone to look for it is like pulling teeth, all they ask is if you "got an e-mail". If you can afford to wait and wade through red tape, go ahead and order from them, but if you're like me and most others, and want something faster than what you can get it from Hong Kong, STAY AWAY!!!"
"I ordered two Nintendo DS games from Walmart.com because they had a good two for $30 deal at the time. I received the items as expected."
