Good dealership experience, poor paint quality

"I'm happy about the experience at the dealership, including the customer service of the staff. However, I wanted to make sure that the dealership was aware that my 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser was delivered to me with microscratches in the paint. These microscratches are present across the entire body of the vehicle, on every painted service. This is completely visible, especially in the sunlight, and utterly unacceptable for a brand new car from a factory.

I would assume that whatever car washing process (automatic or manual) that the dealership is using in order to clean the car prior to delivery to the customer is what is causing this issue. I wish this could have been corrected before I took delivery of the vehicle. I'm really disappointed and now I'm wondering how much money I will have to spend to get rid of these microscratches in the paint.

One and Done

"This otherwise satisfying experience was seriously faulted by their bizarre "security" procedures. While the parts associate was very helpful addressing questions about parts I had purchased from their website, the requirement that I prove that I'm the buyer by producing both my credit card and driver's license was ludicrous. Imagine that I'm the owner of a small repair shop and I've ordered a part to install in my customer's Toyota. While the time of a low-level employee isn't very valuable, I must leave my place of business to retrieve the part personally at West Coast. I can't send my employee. (Just plain unreasonable!) What are these guys afraid of? However, even more unreasonable is making a photocopy of my license, which I did not consent to. This procedure presents an unnecessary risk of identity theft. A look should be sufficient, and of course I'll know where to direct my attorney if any such problem arises. While I do own four Toyotas presently, I'll certainly meet any future parts needs at Toyota dealers who aren't so protective of their own security that they ignore the privacy and convenience of their customers. As the title indicates, One and Done. "

"They had the part I needed on the website. Easy to find and purchase. I chose store pickup instead of paying shipping. They informed me via email when it was ready to pick up in store, a few business days later. Took only a few minutes to pick up my parts and go. Friendly helpful guy at the counter. Would do it this way again for sure. "

Pick-up/Online Orders

"Pick-up/Online orders should really have a separate line at the shop. Waiting for folks to hash out details about their in-store purchase can really take up a lot of time while someone is just there to pick-up their already purchased item. The whole point of a pick-up system is to allow for a quick process. Having to stand behind another customer while they're taking a seemingly endless amount of time to figure out what it is they're trying to buy is one thing, but the person behind the register can clearly see me, and could've easily asked if I had a pick-up or asked the customer mulling things over if they were OK with someone else being helped while they thought things out.
Secondly, if there's a policy on having to have your stat ID and the card with which you purchased your pick-up/online order, don't put that on the shop employee to alert the customer for the first time. The toyotaparts site doesn't mention this at all and luckily I happened to have that, but typically having these checks on an online order isn't something you want to spring on people once they get to the shop.
All told, I'm probably not going to be coming in to buy anything unless there's really no other choice. Even then, I bet I can make it a few days and wait for the order to deliver instead of me having to pick something up.

"I ordered oem parts through autoparts.toyota.com. From the options provided, I selected West Coast Toyota of Long Beach for pick up. The parts were in within a week. Easy pick up with ID and the credit card. Parking was easy. Staff were friendly and professional. Overall a good experience."

Great Customer Service

"My internet order had one incorrect item for my vehicle. My fault. I would not have known had not the counter man called me. Nobody does that on an internet order. He saved me. I was very impressed. I’m pretty sure it was the male I picked the order up from. I did not get his name. Tall male, white with gray hair wearing glasses. Can’t thank him enough for caring about the dealership’s customers. Well done West Coast. "
