"Time & date: 6/14/2019, around 7:30pm
Store: Beach/Westminster
Register: Second from entrance at the guitar section.
Employee involved: a white male looking like a white female due to his long blond hair.
Synopsis: Several hours before, I purchased Yamaha electric acoustic guitar for $849.99 with a salesman named James Gilliam. I got a pleasant experience with this salesman as I did before with Tom Edwards, with whom I purchased a Yamaha piano for more than $2,000.
This time, however, with the Yamaha guitar, I had some questions and came back to the store for help. When arriving at the store, James Gilliam was not there, I tried to get help from the above-mentioned blond hair guy, who was being then engaged in a chat with a white customer, being aware of my being there waiting for him. I had no other alternative than patiently waiting… and waiting. Finally, probably aware of my awkward situation, the white customer stated his intention of terminating the lengthy chat. Notwithstanding, the salesman ignored the customer's intention and seemed to want to prolong the chat, intentionally, as if to keep me waiting as long as possible. The lengthy chat eventually ended. However, instead of taking care of me, he ignored me and took care of another customer who came up to the register after me. As a last resort, I got help with another salesman named Richard Valenzuela at a nearby register.
I'm not clear whether this salesman's behavior resulted from an ill-educated mindset or from tacit racial discrimination.
