"I provided two 120 minute tapes to be transferred, 2 DVDs were made, each with 16 minutes of content. Had to wait three weeks for poor service."
"I wanted to get rid of my slide projector and the slide trays, etc. I culled the best slides that I wanted to preserve and took them to Costco to have them changed to digital. I got a data stick with my transferred slides. Results are not high quality. Some are blurry. Some are too dark. I emailed Yesvideo and they responded that everything is automatic, blah blah, blah.
I got out my projector and compared the slide images I sent them with the pictures they sent back just to make sure. I asked other's their opinion. We agreed the quality of the images on the data stick was not even good.
So, if your goal is to reduce space and you are not looking to keep the quality, this service is for you.
I should have figured that for less than 5o cents a image I was not going to get high quality images."
"We spent a LOT of time going through boxes and boxes of family slides, selecting the best ones to share and carefully putting them in order. Sadly, the DVD and "cloud" slides produced by YesVideo were of poor quality and out of order. They did not follow the order that we carefully selected. Worse, they didn't bother to use the "focus" knob. All I can assume is that they fed them into a batch scanner and called it good, without taking time to do a minor amount of care with each. They did not need to be photoshopped, but they did need to be focused! Probably would not try any other medium with them again. Disappointed!"
"STAY AWAY. I have been a DGA director for over 35 years. I say this to let you know that I certainly know how to time my footage. I sent two VHS cassettes to be transferred. The total video on these cassettes was under 2 hours. After a month, I received my order with an added charge for going over 2 hours. I called the company to explain there mistake. Natasha, the person I talked with was of no help. I asked for a supervisor. I was told none was available but a person named Brittany would call me within 48 hours. 5 days later and no phone call. These people don't care about customer service or about ripping you off."
"Claimed they shipped my reel. I KNEW KNEW KNEW it wouldn't be there. KNEW it. And it wasn't!
1970s reel of my mom who died alone in a nursing home due to covid19. Only video of its kind.. GONE"
"So glad I checked the reviews first! All the reviews were bad! - So glad l didn't do business with Yesvideo. Shame on this company."
"I would give ZERO STARS if it was a choice here. I spent almost $400 in 2016 getting my dad's old 8mm films transferred to video and establishing an online account. Yes Video merged with Google and since I hadn't logged in "...at least once per year" they totally deleted my account without contacting me. I didn't get ANY email contact or warning about this. Now my childhood videos ( and a LOT of money) are gone.
Irresponsible, poor customer CARE (they apparently don't care)...
NOVIDEO."
"I sent in a VHS tape to be converted to DVDs. I had ordered five copies, because I wanted to give them as gifts to some of my relatives. I was told that the DVDs could only contain 2 hours of tape, which was fine, because my video was only about an hour to an hour and a half. When I watched one of the copies, it stopped at 35 minutes... I thought it was a mistake with one copy, but it turns out they only put 35 minutes of the tape on there for all of the copies, NOT even close to the two hour limit. I then wanted to watch my VHS tape to see how much was really missing from the DVD copies, but they CLEARED my VHS tape, erasing my ONLY true copy with the whole video. The video had memories of my father who passed away, and YesVideo deleted them! Those are memories that I will NEVER get back. So, PLEASE save yourself the trouble and do not use YesVideo!!!! "
"For $261.78 expected more expertise, lost so much clarity. "
"I sent several 8mm and 16mm films to them via Costco for digital conversion. Almost ALL the digital video is in REVERSE. That is, people diving backwards from the pool OUT of the water back onto the pool deck, swimming backwards, etc. After a dozen phone calls including speaking to the manager several times, who - in turn - allegedly spoke with his production manager, I was told "the movies cannot be fixed, they were SHOT BACKWARDS." To people reading this, I kid you not. This MINDLESS statement blew me away. I tried explaining to these alleged video conversion experts that in the days of FILM it was IMPOSSIBLE to shoot a movie backwards. PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE, since film is a record of time passing in front of the camera. CRICKETS on the other end. Obviously, the film had either not been rewound or rewound improperly! Very common back when people had home projectors.
I will NEVER again entrust ANY work to YesVideo because they are CLUELESS.
After I wrote the above review, I read more of the other reviews and they reminded me ... there was a period of about 3 weeks during which YesVideo had NO IDEA where my movies were. After I'd first gotten them back at Costco, taken the disc home and seen the videos in reverse, I sent everything (including the original film) back for redo. AGAIN, YesVideo was absolutely CLUELESS! I was almost in tears. These 16mm movies were from 1944 when my uncle had just returned from WWII! I thought they were permanently LOST!
AS ANOTHER REVIEWER WROTE: COSTCO, ETC. PLEASE TAKE NOTE. This contractor is worse than harmful to your customers and YOUR good names!"
"Deleted my videos with no warning. Abysmal customer service. Costco should not partner with them. Attention Costco: you should NOT partner with YesVideo."
"Don't use yesvideo! They put my videos on their cloud a number of years ago, had no trouble ever viewing them, but recently when I checked they were gone and I fear I'll never get them back.
Do a simple google search of "yesvideo", the countless number of negative reviews and bbb complaints should be good enough to point you in another direction. I wish I'd known beforehand."
"I ordered digital access, which they only make available for a short time. When I finally received an email to create an account, my videos were already deleted so I couldn’t access them. The exchange emails were USELESS. They basically said the same exact thing in each email and didn’t really read mine to see what the actual problem was. Still have no idea how to access my digital videos. So frustrated. Don’t go with this company if you want a good experience. "
"I found an old home movie, 8mm film, in my father's belongings. I decided for Christmas to get the film converted to DVD. I took it to Walmart on Black Friday. They outsource to YesVideo, where you get the DVD and are able to share the video on their Cloud. Walmart screwed up. The girl who took my order didn't know what to do and put it aside. A week went by and I received no notification from Yes Video that they received my order. I go back to Walmart, they say that because it was Black Friday, it would take a little longer for UPS to make their deliveries. I give it another two weeks. Nothing. I go back to Walmart. They find my film in a drawer. So they mail it and they tell me that they will pay for all costs. Meanwhile, Yes Video sends me no notification that they received the order. In addition to contact with Walmart, I am also contacting Yes Video. First, it takes their customer service 3-5 days to even respond to your complaint. Then they ask for the order # --- everytime because they cannot keep things straight.
What happens next --- my order was processed and delivered back to Walmart. I had to call Walmart to find out because Yes Video had no knowledge of my order! So, I got the DVD. However, that was in January. It is now the end of March/beginning of April and I still have no access to the video on their Cloud. Everytime they send me a link, it goes to the main page of my account, where it tells me to "Place an order". This service is wretched. They do nothing to go out of their way for the customer and it is as if customer service is toying with me. Horrible service and it is still not resolved.
This was suppose to be a Christmas gift. Now it may not even be an Easter gift."
"If you are spending over $1,000 to transfer family treasures to digital, a big part of the sale is the permanent online access. I transferred my slides, pictures and film in September 2018. I was able to access my material online several times. Now with the holidays past I am looking to do more editing and sharing. I log into my account (Feb 24, 2019) and there is nothing there!!! It is all gone!!! Wow Costco / YesVideo that's really great!
If that's not bad enough, then I see on the site that I won't be able to access the site an my material (had it been there) after April 2019 because its moving to google photos. I HAVEN'T RECEIVED EVEN A SINGLE EMAIL ABOUT THIS CHANGE. YOU DELETED ALL MY MEMORIES AND YOU ARE MOVING YOUR SERVICE AND YOU DON'T EVEN REACH OUT TO YOUR CUSTOMERS ONCE? YOU PROMISE PERMANENT ARCHIVE AND DVD EDITING AND THEN YOU RENEGE? SHAME ON YOU, COSTCO / YESVIDEO. I'LL BE CHECKING LEGAL MEANS FOR A VIOLATION OF YOUR SERVICE TERMS."
