but i was very impressed. especially with their selection. then after the order was placed i was even more impressed with how quickly it shipped! Amazing... same day!

"I've ordered from Zappos about ten times now, and each time has been terrific. The layout of the site isn't the greatest, but I can easily find what I'm looking for with a search and know the precise availability of a product.
I've found the pricing to be a bit sporadic, sometimes you'll get a decently priced item but a lot of the time you're paying more than MSRP. I guess they have to cover their bases with all the free overnight shipping upgrades.
They claim to take back returns 365 days a year, but I haven't tested them on that yet. I did however return a pair of shoes I had for six months just laying around in my closet (I was stubborn and wanted them to work). I wore them a couple times but ultimately ended up returning them. The return process was quite simple, you do it all online.
I'll shop around a bit to compare prices, but if I need something the next day I would definitely order from Zappos."
"Ordered a Humminbird 1157c gps for $1823.40 online 04/06/2009 a Sunday. Got a call from Zappos on Monday to call and confirm order.I think this is the upgrade for more money call. so I call Zappos ready to cancell the order.Can't rember the mans name but he was realy nice. Said they check all big money orders just to be sure. I needed the gps by friday for install. now I have lost 1 day. Ask if I could upgrade shipping and was told they would ship it next day for free.I got home Tuesday at 4:10. UPS driver was at my door with my package in his hand. THANK YOU ZAPPOS Ron "
"Disappointing at best. After seeing Zappos highlighted on the TV show, The Apprentice, I thought I would give them a try. Despite their website, which lacks visual appeal and is quite dense with information, their selection of shoes is OK. They lost a sale, however, when they did not have a size I needed, so instead of buying two pairs, I only purchased a pair of $200 Cole Haan Oxfords.
An hour after I made my purchase, as I was attempting to see the status of my order, I noticed that the $200 price of these shoes had now dropped to a sale price $137. When I sent an email highlighting this fact to their customer service, I was told that they would not honor the reduction in price because they do not follow "industry standards" for price matching on different colors of the same shoe. I find this confusing at best and dishonest at worst. What retailer offers different prices on different colors of the SAME exact model shoe?
Now I know one.
Today, Zappos had the chance to earn a new customer who loves shoes. They blew it. I will return the shoes I ordered, at their expense, and hope that they quickly adopt a better business sense. They tout their "amazing customer service and unique shopping experience". I can certainly attest to the latter...it was a "unique experience" and one that I will not repeat with them. Especially when they are so many other choices. I wonder what Donald would say?

"Zappos is probably the best online store I know. They have great prices, but the thing that makes them great for me is their SUPER FAST shipping - even with free shipping. I usually receive anything I order from them (even clothes - I thought once they started selling more than shoes the shipping might change) within 2 days - if not the next day. They ship from Kentucky. I wish Zappos will continue to add to their merchandise (become another Amazon) but keep the super fast shipping. Zappos is the first place I shop for apparel online."
"I ordered a pair of volleyball shoes. Being a VIP member, it was shipped FREE with next-business-day delivery. Although their policy says that in order to receive it next day, the order placement deadline is 1pm PST, I received the order next day despite placing order at 4pm PST. Bravo for fast shipping.
For delivery, UPS did some goofup, showed package delivered at front door, but I couldn't locate it. I called zappos, they immediately initiated a trace with UPS, and offered to ship me a replacement product with the trust that if I receive both, I will return one of them. I told them I can wait a couple of days for UPS investigation since I was not in a hurry and there's no need to send a replacement immediately. Fortunately, within 2 hours, the UPS driver came back, I came back from office to meet him, and he said he had left the package in my patio. This is still a mystery to me, that the package was not in my patio in the morning, when the UPS website showed it as delivered at FRNT DOOR. I am just happy I received it finally.
In any case, I am extremely pleased with zappos customer service. I will definitely buy from zappos.com again."

"I ordered 2 patagonia shirts for my fiance' on Thursday Jan 22 (internet). I requested regular free shipping (4-6 business days). I saw a Zappos box at my front door on Saturday Jan 24. I couldn't believe it - the shirts were sent second day air and delivered on the weekend. Great transaction."
"I have been an avid supporter of Zappos since they started and have made multiple purchases (over 20 for 500-1000.00 in three different accounts just in the last three years) and until very recently highly recommended them to a broad constituent of clients and associates. ZAPPOS IS OVER. The orders over the last few months for several people I have spoken with have been incorrect, overpriced, mis-shipped and delay shipped. Now, my personal chaos with the now ABYSSMAL SERVICE.
I tried to to get resolution from the company for the problem on the last order, (the last four have not been properly fulfulled). After repeating my request for order correction and notification several times over more than three days (for an order requested overnight) in nearly two hours of calls (two to the extremely egotistic and obnoxious person claiming to represent zappos customer service but apparently reading from a script, stating over and over that the warehouse and call center were at two different locations - so? Fix it!) and after listening to the rep talk in circles but never actually listen or provide anything near a customer service oriented statement or solution, when I requested escalation, prior to losing my cool (I am a conflict resolution specialist and have inordinate patience), she claimed to be from a higher department and the only escalation person in the company. She stated that she worked directly with Tony (the owner). I requested that she notify me of a convenient appointment time to speak with him. More talking in circles. More rudeness. More ridiculous commentary. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. I’ve gotten similar, but actually better service from J&K Camera, a Bronx sham. Seriously.
The indignant little rep who refused to address the customer, the issue or escalate with any respect whatsoever, then called back to state that my business was not required and if I didn’t like it I could write a letter. I had already written a complaint letter online, on the website after I had requested escalation and resolution three times and then twice requested a call back from a specific superior. No customer service response of any kind was forthcoming and the email was never responded to. My guess? She deleted the letter. She is after all, the head of customer service, she claims.
I did a little online reading and apparently several people have become uncomfortable enough to write in, blog and comment online about the rising prices, lowering service and delayed/unpredictable shipping, in addition to other changing policies since the founder left it to Number 2. My guess is that they will last a couple more years and fold (even a terrifically bad business can stay afloat for a decade or more) unless they make some serious operations changes, like actually have oversight for obnoxious reps that destroy business by treating loyal customers horribly.
In addition to my complaint not being addressed, my order not being corrected, my billing remaining incorrect (necessitating BBB and Consumer Affairs complaints as soon as I have time), the same rep disabled my account so that I cannot properly collect the information required to make complaint or further request for correction. NORDSTROM NOW HAS BETTER PRICES WITH UNQUESTIONABLY GOOD SERVICE AND SHIPPING.

I have ordered from them a dozen times. They always ship on time or earlier. And they often upgrade the shipping free of charge.
There was only one time that I had to make a return, and it was absolutely a breeze. Return shipping is free and tracked, and everything.
I now buy all my shoes there. Shoes is usually something you want to try on before you buy, but with Zappos and their fantastic policies, you can shop with confidence. And once you know your favorite brands and size, you usually know what to expect."

"Ordered a pair of shoes online on 11/23/08 (a Sunday) and received them on 11/25/08 (Tuesday). The shipping was free and I was upgraded to next day air, which was a very pleasant surprise. Apparently this is a somewhat common practice so that's very good news. The shoes were a bit expensive (about $5 more than Nike's MSRP), but I was unable to find them anywhere else cheaper. I searched about 8-10 shoe stores in my area (Finish Line, Footlocker, Sports Authority, etc) and no one had them - and other online merchants were more expensive. The way I look at it, I got them for MSRP plus $5 next day shipping. Fortunately for me, the shoes fit perfectly. While I had a bit of trepidation about buying shoes online (due to size issues and possibly having to send them back) I would definitely look to Zappos first if I need to buy shoes online again. "
