"On Tuesday October 24, 2006 I placed my first order with Zipzoomfly (Z3727077). It was for an “in stock” item. I noticed Friday October 27 that it was still in “processing” even though it the company policy states that “most orders require 1 business day processing time and are shipped out the following day (weekdays only).”
I called that Friday and left a message. The message was returned and the rep that assisted me said that because this was a special order item it would take 2-3 additional days to be sent out and that I could expect it in the later half of the next week (week of October 26th).
14 days after I placed the order it was still listed as being “in processing”. And I was never given a warning or explanation for the delay.
So in the pluses category I have Zipzoomfly is good because:
(+)They had the merchandise I needed in stock for a good price (so I thought).
(+)They returned my first call the same day I left a message.
And in the minuses category I have:
(-) They apparently don’t have the item in stock (Lying about merchandise to attract business is actually illegal in some states).
(-) When they couldn’t comply with their own shipping policies they didn’t notify me.
(-) An item that I ordered in October when I wanted/needed it was never even pulled for shipping before I cancelled the order in November.
(-) Customer Service Resolution was not accurate/effective.
(-) My email sent to customer service was not addressed in the timely manner as stated on the website as “For general customer service questions, email us at ****@****. Please allow up to two business days for a response. In addition, please avoid re-sending emails, as this will only tie up our system. Thank you for your patience. Please note that we do not offer any technical support or technical sales assistance.”
(-) Zipzoomfly’s requested cancellation method of the internet was not functional. After 14 days without any progress in the processing of my order or a reply to my attempts to resolve the issue using the channels that were listed at zipzoomfly I cancelled the order by phone. Although there was never a reply or confirmation (email or otherwise) the order was cancelled at the end of the business day
I do around $25,000 of internet shopping every year. Of that $15,000 is for products that zipzoomfly would typically carry. Companies I have ordered from within the past two months include directron, mwave, new egg, techforless, SVC, tigerdirect, and ecost. I tried zipzoomfly because it appeared to have an excellent customer satisfaction rating. Luckily, I ordered something small to see how they handled that, before committing to a large order. My personal experience has been so exceptionally poor that I spent the time necessary to record the facts so that others don’t have to have the same bad experience I did.
