"THIS IS A NEGATIVE REVIEW. emusic has a lot going for it - it's cheap, the selection of songs is good if you like older, hard to find, or not-so-mainstream music. The problem is - SPAM. I have had a few accounts with emusic, and for each one I created a new email address. I did not use those email addresses for ANYTHING but emusic, and now (less than a month after I signed up for emusic) they all receive several spam emails each day. I signed up for emusic to download music, not to learn how to please my woman with a larger member or to make millions from home. emusic is apparently not ashamed of being the cause of all this spam. They disclose in their privacy policy that they give out your email address to what they term "trusted third parties...so that they can promote their products and services and those of their affiliates and partners." Clearly emusic's standards for who they trust are meaningless. emusic allows to you opt out of these disclosures, but that should be the default. You should have to opt-in to this information sharing program. The privacy policy goes on to explain that once your information has been sent to their "trusted third parties," your information is now guarded by the third parties' privacy policies - in other words, any information that emusic shares with it's "trusted third parties" might as well be posted all over the internet for everyone to exploit. I really enjoy the emusic service - they provide great content at a very low price with no digital rights management on the songs. BUT, I can't endorse any company that distributes its member's emails to spammers. If you must use the emusic service, create a free web-based email account and expect to receive spam on it."
"I signed up for the 75-download per month $20 plan. Though the service lacks copies of much of today's popular music, if I wanted to listen to an overplayed track, I'd turn on my radio instead. There are a lot of great tunes available on this service, especially from independent artists. You just need to search for them, which can feel like a chore."
"I signed up for a free trial with 50 free downloads. The selection of songs is horrible. I only found 20 songs I wanted to download. The sound quality is terrible.
During the the free download period, the site noted that my membership was to become effective on December 20th. So on December 19th, at 10:00PM CST logged in to cancel. At 10:07PM the site changed, my remaining free downloads vanished & my credit card was billed for 1 month. I cancelled my account anyway, before the 11:00PM CST deadline, but that did not remove the credit card billing. Emailed customer service, & they just said you have 1 month of service with XX downloads. You can not call anyone at the company to complain to. This is just Fraud. Don't sign for the Free trail, it's not worth the charge they will apply to your credit card."
"SCAM SCAM SCAM
Total Scam! The site promotes "2 week free trial." and 25 song downloads for free during the trial. I downloaded the songs which were very poor quality (several hiccups and a huge background hiss), then cancelled that same day- with confirmation of cancellation.
The site continues to bill my credit card each month and there is no way to reach anyone at the company."
