"I would highly recommend them as a company that takes care of their customers. I have made three orders from them in the last 3 months and they have all shipped out the same day. The first order had a problem in which they shipped the wrong drive (wrong size, the model number had 750 in it, and the person pulling it saw that instead of 750 GB). But they contacted me before I had received it, and told me the problem and arranged a solution. The latest order was an emergency one. My server raid controller died and they shipped me a new one overnight, even though I was about a half an hour past the cutoff time. They are defintely my 1st choice when ordering on the internet. "The good:
Lowest price at the time for the particular item I ordered (Seagate 500GB PATA HD). Free, fast shipping. Coast to coast shipment sent same day of order and arrived within 3 days. Fairly good e-mail correspondence (see note below). Received confirmation & invoice immediately after placing order. Received shipping notice and tracking number at the end of the business day.
The bad:
Incredibly poor packaging. This was an OEM drive which was shipped in a standard, cardboard box. While they did place an air-pillow on top of the drive, there was no other protection or padding in the box whatsoever and the drive was free to float inside. Sure enough, my package arrived with a nice dent & puncture in the bottom. Thankfully, the drive tested out ok and is still working normally. Comments from people on other forums reiterate the same packaging issues. Lack off or no protection for hard drives is just inexcusable. Try RMA'ing a drive like that and see how quickly you get denied into oblivion for "inadequate packaging".
Not really a problem per se, and probably just my luck, but, shortly after I placed my oder, the Murphy's Law of online purchasing kicked in and the item cost dropped an additional $5. Having already reviewed their policies and seen comments about it from other people, I knew they didn't do price adjustments, so I figured I would just quickly cancel and resubmit my order. The only problem was, before I could even begin to do so, my order had entered a non-cancellable/processing state. Now, that would be a really good thing if it meant that someone at eWiz had actually started processing my order that fast, and at 3 a.m., but, since it seemed somewhat unlikely , I sent them an e-mail to verify (calling wasn't an option as the office was closed), but never received a reply. Not a big deal by any means, but an all out lack of response is worth mentioning in my book. I am, however, receiving their promotion e-mails which I never opted in to.
This was my first "test" purchase with eWiz and I would likely do business with them again, as well as rate them higer, if they were to improve their packaging. Saving a few dollars is definitely not worth the time and hassle of having to RMA items because a retailer doesn't adequately protect their shipments. "
